Writing a fic. Here are the guys
Pearl: our main girl. Firefighter transplanted from a big city to a lakeside country town due to The Incident. very invested in personal and public safety, and genuinely baffled at how this place has survived this long - still endeared though.
Impulse: firefighter captain. dedicated to a lot of town reform, charities, and architectural side-projects. maybe slightly less dedicated to fires.
Skizz: firefighter. has managed to talk a fire out and will do it again. good friends with literally everyone in town, and will also indulge in impromptu therapy with people on the streets. chronically late.
Tango: firefighter. voted most likely to make fun of you for not outrunning a fire, or a bear. has personally failed to outrun both, which makes him an expert.
Zedaph: paramedic. he will not listen to anyone who says normal paramedics don't have experimental labs. is dating at least one of the firefighter dads but no one is clear on which.
Cleo: archaeologist/historian. friendly in a polite steam-roller type of way, and for this very reason is currently excavating Pearl's new backyard.
Joe: lives on a houseboat on the lake; can be found dangling off the stern jangling tunes on his various instruments to any passerbys. If he's not there, he's definitely somewhere, but it's probably the last place you'd look.
Grian: owner of the ware/green house of bits and bobs. looks at you blankly when you ask for something, but the item will ultimately arrive at your doorstep, albeit slightly bedraggled.
Gem: inheritor of the old castle further out of town. currently playing a strange game of HOA chess with her brother, and also setting huge swathes of forest on fire in "controlled burns"
Joel: Gem's brother, and utterly normal.
Xisuma: neither the founder nor the mayor, but treated with the deference as if he were. affably fields town complaints anyway, and therefore runs the best gossip mill in the region.
False: a cracked stone statue in the town centre fountain, still spilling water from her cup.
Scar: friendly to the point of suspicion. vehemently argues with anyone who brings up the local "Nessie" legends, even if no one brought it up. As said, suspicious.
