Made a painting for Lord Hermes & his wife Lady Peitho ( the goddess of Persuasion & Seduction , daughter of Ate ) , I've been thinking about them quite a bit lately and I wanted to give them something in return of sorts .

( Also sidenote I know the greenery looks really bad and the clothing folds are most likely very inaccurate but I tried and I hope that they like it :'] I did a good job with the wing I think )

I'm sorry this is late on my part, but I finally have the time and energy to do this. Unfortunately, I don't know Ancient Greek or Greek (for that matter) so the epithets will be in English for the most part. All of these I have either found on her page @Theoi.com or other sources I'll link below. Also, you're more than free to dm me any time you like for more informal talk about anything related to her or other deities in general worship.

Peitho

Honeyed, wine sweet words flow intoxicatingly from her cherried lips. Ever the charmer, she works her way through the room and steals the hearts of all those who meet her. Some for but a single night… A lover’s tender whisper inciting murder, she persuades like no one else. Trouble nips at her heels, but never catches her off her feet. Instead she talks and seduces her way out of it like always. Beautiful, mischievous Peitho… Never change.

⚚ The Kiss ⚚

A drawing of Lady Peitho & Lord Hermes, based on Franseco Hayez's " The Kiss " . I've been meaning to draw them for a while, really hope I could do them justice.

For those who maybe don't know, Lady Peitho , the goddess of Charming Speech, Persuasion & Seduction is sometimes considered the wife of Lord Hermes, an interpretation I'm really fond of . After all , Persuasion & Eloquence go hand in hand, right ? :3

I unfortunately had to sacrifice quite a bit of detail in this drawing, for example Lady Peitho's jewelry would usually be a lot more ornate and Lord Hermes would have constellations like Lepus on his cloak and there'd be more patterns on his hat , but I had already spent so much time on this & almost gave up on it twice so I really wanted to finish it , still very sorry about that though :') I'm not too happy with it but people were being really nice and supportive , so here you go <3

( funfact the dove ornament that's holding up the light blue drapery around Lady Peitho's waist is almost an exact recreation of a dove found on pottery art depicting her . And I gave Lord Hermes these little bandages around his fingers since I think a crafty god like him that's so involved in inventions and innovation pricks his hands a lot haha )

The dark blue cloak Lord Hermes is wearing is 1) inspired by night skies and his ties to astronomy 2) supposed to be a nod towards his mother Maia , who's one of the Pleiades , goddesses associated with the stars and rain & 3) heavily influenced by a painting by Adolf Hirémy-Hirschl called " Souls on the Banks of the Archeron " , which shows him wearing a very similar cloak . His wings are supposed to be those of a Peregrine Falcon, the fastest animal on earth.

For Lady Peitho I went with mostly cool tones & silver accents . Nonnus described her as being clad in silver, so I wanted to include it somehow, especially since it's one of the very few mentions of her. I feel like it contrasts nicely with her red hair , which I gave her as a nod to Lady Aphrodite. Peitho is usually considered her handmaiden, but sometimes she's an aspect of hers or quite literally the same goddess, so I thought it'd be cool to have them look somewhat similar. I've decided to also give her wings on her head , those of a dove :>

She's so so dear to me I'm happy I finally made a big illustration of her <3 I wanted it to look similar to the one I made of Lord Hermes . This started out as a study of one of Bouguereau's paintings btw !! ( I like how I did the fabric & skin , the rest is kind of eh but that's okay )

I draw her with wings because I believe her mother Lady Ate ( a goddess of ruin & recklessness , a descendant of Mother Night ) has bat wings :3 and I gave her some small pieces of silver jewelry, Nonnus described her as being clad in silver , and I interpret her to be a rather shy & humble goddess , partially because her mother was cast from Olympos, which tells me that Peitho grew up on earth as well and only ascended to the heavens after she started working with Lady Aphrodite as her handmaiden . ( Keep in mind this is all my own interpretation, we know very very little about Lady Peitho and even less about her mother . Plus , there's several interpretations of who her parents are , I just go with this one because it's the most interesting in my opinion !! )

Hello! I am interested to know how you worship peitho! If you don't mind, what are her colors, crystals, symbols, offerings etc!

I'm so happy to have someone who is interested in her😊! First off I think it's important to highlight the versatile nature of persuasion she represents/embodies. It's more than casual or mundane living like with marriage (usually, depending on status that is) and does historically dip into the political as she is very influential in that sphere and heavily a part of her domain. I worship her as more than simply the herald or handmaiden of Aphrodite and tend to highlight her status as a water deity as one of the Okeanids.

Peitho's place as a pure master of words and bending them to her will is like an art as easy as breathing. I tend to not give her a lot of offerings and put more of a focus on time spent with her or doing devotional activities if anything. Luckily though, there are historical symbols like doves and yarn/string/twine. Her company tends to be that of love/marriage deities, Hermes for their shared domain over charming/witty/eloquent and persuasive speech as well as Hermes' initial role in marriage during the honeymoon stages as well as theft, as well as Tykhe, Bia, and Nemesis.

Multiple other daimones have a high possibility for coupling together with Peitho in general so I think that would be a great place to start if you already have any of the above already in your daily life.

As for purely UPG associations, in my experience, she really adores cats and the color red and is ambivalent with the colors white and pink. Peaches, mangos, pomegranates (as an extension of the importance of Aphrodite with the last fruit), and mint are also her favorites. I don't personally have any mineral/quartz associations for her yet as I haven't gone out of my way to make that connection. Lastly for offerings stream/ocean imagery and seashells are good to go with (again, tying to Aphrodite and her parentage either to A. or Okeanos and Tethys).
