Monster Hunter World needs more monkeys! (Rajang is a good start…)
So I made one. This is Tambakuma. I used design aspects of Golden Lion Tamarins, Gorillas, and of course lions. The name “Tambakuma” comes from 3 words: “tam” comes from “tamarin”, “baku” comes from the Japanese word for “explosion”, and “akuma”, the Japanese word for “demon” or “devil”.
I Killed two birds with one stone for this one. I was challenged by someone to make a monster using the colors red, blue, and yellow. ONE WHOLE YEAR LATER, I decide to make it a monkey. Because we need more of em.
Do you like him? Let me know!
Anyways, here’s more info:
Name: Tambakuma
NIckname: “Explosive Beast ”
Classification: Fanged Beast
Location: Elder’s Recess, Wildspire Waste
Element(s): Blast
Ailments: Blastblight, Fireblight
Weaknesses: Thunder, Dragon, Water
Resistances: Fire
Immunities: None
More Info: Tambakuma are very large fanged beasts that live in mostly volcanic regions, though some have been spotted in other hot areas such as deserts. They are social creatures, creating troops of up to 10 members. The adult Tambakuma battles to become the undisputed alpha, whereas the younger Tamba (not pictured here) follow his/her lead. Aside from battles for the throne, These monkeys generally know how to get along. They forage for berries and hunt smaller monsters together. They aren’t the most fond of visitors, however. They’ll more than likely try to scare you off if you approach the troop. Stick around, and they will become aggressive…
While they haven’t displayed any complex team strategy when it comes to fighting, Tambakuma are highly intelligent monsters. The pads on their hands are infused with a special kind of flint, allowing them to create sparks with enough friction. They are not born with this feature, rather they infuse the flint themselves by using lava to glue it to their hands and knuckles. From there, these monsters dip their hands in lava and explosive powder, causing their very heat-resistant hands to heat up massively (sometimes their fur will even light on fire). Be very wary if the hand(s) begin to glow red, as their punches become explosive. While studies are still being conducted to verify this theory, it appears that Tambakuma troops have learned this “explosive punch” technique from observing local Brachydios. They even mimic the brute wyvern’s punching patterns. Regardless of its origin, this crafty beast is no slouch on the battlefield. Be on your guard, as you will be outnumbered…
