"To accept ourselves as we are means to value our imperfections as much as our perfections."
Be wise, go kind, live fully
-Dzogchen Ponlop Rinpoche
Words I strive to live my life by.
POSITIVE WEDNESDAY: Don't let your desire to be perfect overtake you, just be you! 🌻
Hero?
It is said that everyone is the hero of his/her own story. You are the hero of yours and I am the hero of mine. We all live as central characters in our stories. And we all are flawed, imperfect in our own ways and deal with our problems.
Now, I think that's the reason, why we all love seeing our heroes on the screen, in politics, in corporate world to be less perfect as well, because in that way we can resonate with them. Seeing their flaws and imperfections which are similar to us gives us some kind of satisfaction and hope about ourselves that despite of being ordinary we can do wonders in our lives. If the hero is too perfect or cleaned we lose interest in them, we carry on with their stories only when they resonate with us, when we can find ourselves to be alike.
Isn't it true?
Most of us have seen The Lego Movie, where the protagonist Emmet, an ordinary individual simply won the heart of cruel Lord Business with his wise words and stopped him from causing destruction. Seeing such a ordinary human being doing wonders (making extraordinary strategies, believing in himself, winning the battle) makes us delightful and carry on with the simple animated movie, which propagated the idea "everyone is special in their own way, we just need to believe".
The success of many autobiographies and memoirs is also related to these reasons where writers highlight their problems and weaknesses and we again vibrate and echo with them as we engage ourselves with their work.
Each one of us is flawed and imperfect and when we find others to be similar, we feel gratified, relaxed, praised and connected to the world.
WE all are heroes, we should learn to embrace our shortcomings and celebrate them like we celebrate our heroes !
Me on a daily basis honestly. Thank you NCT for these masterpieces.
