Cherik Rec List: Kink Meme Fill Edition

By request of @thepointofme, I decided to make a reclist of some of my favorite Cherik fanfics not on AO3. This will include a lot of unfinished WIPs, unfortunately, because most fills on the kink meme tend to be such, but they are all well worth the read if I’m putting them on here, unfinished or not, so I won’t be labeling them as WIPs <3

(Also, most of these fills are extremely wordy, so I’ve summarized the lengthy ones as succinctly as I can.)

Objects in Mirror Summary: Erik/Charles, pre-slash. AU in which, while Charles Xavier has just returned from Cuba, severed ties with the CIA and started setting up his school, Erik Lehnsherr is an entirely human engineer who's not remotely fond of mutants. Things are complicated when, in the absence of Hank, Charles hires Erik to build Cerebro Mk.2. 

Out of the Park Prompt: Erik/Charles, ensemble cast. Erik is a professional baseball player, and Charles is his clueless yet supportive boyfriend.

Little Birds (AO3) Prompt: Erik/Charles, ensemble cast. AU where they are birds. Yes, it just so happens to be my favorite fill on this list.

Interplanetary Incidents Prompt: Erik/Charles, background pairings. In a futuristic sci-fi setting, Erik and Charles are princes of their respective planets who have just been arranged to be married.

Blue Hotel Prompt: Erik/Charles. Charles and Erik are married, but going through a rough patch, when Erik finds himself teetering on the edge of an affair with his coworker Janos.

How Deep the Bullet Lies Prompt: Erik/Charles, previous Shaw/Charles. Count of Monte Cristo-inspired, modern AU. See full prompt for warnings.

Stage Left (AO3) Prompt: Erik/Charles/Moira, OT3, ensemble cast. Phantom of the Opera AU. + Companion fill below (AO3).

The Bawd and the John Prompt: Erik/Charles. Charles is a brothel owner and Erik, one of their best clients, is madly in love with him.

A Thousand Pages (Give or Take a Few) Prompt: Erik/Charles. Modern setting, rival bookshop owners AU.

Turn Me Inside Out Prompt: Gen, slight Erik/Charles undertones, team as family. Set during the original trilogy. Wherein the original First Class members are all de-aged to their 1962 selves in the modern day.

The Sexual Education of Charles Xavier Prompt: Erik/Charles. No divorce!AU. Charles and Erik seek out a young mutant who sprays them with her powers that induce them to have an uncontrollable amount of sex with each other. Erik, it seems, is full of sexual surprises.

Imagination Prompt: 5+1. Darkfic, mirror!verse.

Honey, They Took the Kids Prompt: Erik/Charles, post-divorce. A government facility kidnaps the children, and Charles enlists the Brotherhood’s help in getting them back.

Untitled Fill Prompt: AU where Charles is paralysed before the start of the movie, either from birth or in a childhood/teenage accident.

YES YES OF COURSE! THESE I HAVE. SO MANY OF (and of course I do personal recs! some might take longer than others tho bc of nicheness lol)

friend of my brother is my enemy (or something like that) <- this fic. Byler dosent get together but i think its the GOLD STANDARD of mike himself getting johnathan'ed. It does have a lot of serious and hard hitting conversaion topics but they way jonathan reacts... beautiful. so in character. i think of it every time byler gets jonathan'ed in any other fic.

and then these theyre already in a relationship but mike still gets the Pep Talk haha- If i find any more of either i will reblog with those!

So Adorable, It’s Sickening

The story of how good-boy valedictorian Cas meets and falls in love with bad-boy dealer Dean, with each chapter told from a different point of view.

Chapter 1: Brady doesn't care who his drug dealer screws, so long as he keeps Brady in the good stuff. Chapter 2: Cas knows this thing with Dean has to mean something, right? Chapter 3: Jess can see it: when Dean gets home in a really good mood, Cas comes to class the next day in a really good mood too. Coincidence?

Slightly after the android revolution, before android rights had spread across the nation, Connor is taken by Cyberlife and successfully wiped of his deviency. He somehow gets abandoned in the desert, unaware of who he is, where he is, or why there's a small push in the back of his mind telling him that he needs to be somewhere else.

Commentary:

I really enjoyed this one!! I love the added characters, they are so nice, i personally really enjoy getting to read Connor interacting like them and getting to know them better! I also enioy the whole strings thing going on, i already like soulmate like aus but this was a nice take that also made it not seem so obvious <3

6. Favorite fic (or one of them)? My favorite xmcu fic will always, always be A Place to Fall by ikeracity. <3

I love modern aus, I love the specific Cherik dynamic in it (emotionally closed off asshole Erik and curious well-meaning busybody Charles I will never get tired of you, I love you), I love the character backstories and worldbuilding, I love the ensemble cast (Avengers crossover ftw!! Plus Moira my girl ✨) and I LOVE the plot. It's so engaging and my ultimate favorite comfort romance movie script disguised as a fanfiction <3

9. What is the longest fic you’ve read? the stars incline us, but do not bind us by ikeracity & Pangea, because I've already recced White Nights here and I'm too lazy to check all the fics I've hoarded from the kink memes and Wayback Machine for word count. I actually haven't fully finished this one yet because I got distracted, but man does it hit all my favorite buttons (space AU, dub/non-con, Cherik :D)

14. What tropes/elements/scenarios get you the worst? WHUMP!! I love love love whump, and hurt/comfort! I will read just about anything to do with those if Charles is getting whumped. (see next question)

17. Any characters who you can’t stand to see in pain? It’s actually quite funny to me but I do not think I could ever read an Erik whump fic. I cannot stand the thought of him being hurt, he's been through too much - I want only a soft epilogue and eternal happiness for him ;w;

18. Favorite angst fic? If I could walk back to yesterday, I would by sareyen. At its heart, XMCU!Cherik is a tragedy, whether Charles is human or not.

Also, this heartbreaking little 4+1 kink meme fill that broke me :’)

22. Biggest turn-ons in fic? In general I LOVE praise kink and body worship, but other than that my kinks depend on the ship. One of my biggest Cherik turn-ons is comfort sex when Charles gets too in his own head, which I really loved in Out Of Your Mind by devilbearingtrouble <3

23. Biggest turn-offs in fic? Top!Charles/Bottom!Erik is not my cup of tea, lol. Also, dark!Charles.

30. Favorite porn fic? Sex and Telepathy by blind_author has a lovely and deeply insightful take on charles’ relationship with sex as a concept growing up, and his first time with erik, that has become my personal headcanon ❤️

That one’s fairly introspective, though, so I’ll also rec put your head on my shoulder by sweeney_t because Charles is adorable in it and I want that fic’s Erik so, so bad. Also the ending gave me HUGE brainworms for a sequel… which I hope they will make one day, so I should leave them a comment!

32. Favorite AU tropes? Ohhhhh man, it’s like asking me to pick my favorite food, when it all tastes delicious. I’ll read just about anything that counts as an AU, although my specific trope preferences vary from fandom to fandom. With Cherik I particularly love modern AUs, as well as the space AUs that were a staple of 2013-2016 fandom!

33. Least favorite AU tropes? I guess… horror AUs? I enjoy them on TV, but not so much in a fic. I’m also not a fan of western AUs. I am very much Anakin “it’s coarse and rough and irritating it gets everywhere” Skywalker about western settings 😅

36. Do you like crossovers? If so, favorite crossover? YES!!! On AO3 I’ve read a couple Doctor Who crossovers I really liked (despite only having seen one episode), and I LOVE Avengers crossovers. I’m a big fan of their interactions with Cherik :’)

My favorite crossover fic has to be Buffy’s Guide to Surviving in 1962 by pprfaith! It’s an OT3 fic about Buffy Summers ending up in 1962 and having a threesome with Cherik about it on their road trip, and it’s an absolute riot. I stumbled upon it by complete accident while surfing LiveJournal, and I’m very glad I did. What a gem. Buffy’s narration was too funny and I loved the characterization of Erik and Charles in it, which felt very First Class-accurate and made me laugh at several intervals! (Also, I’ve never seen BTVS so you don’t need to either.)

44. How fluffy is too fluffy? Fic can never get too fluffy for me! At least, not with Cherik. I thrive on their angst, but I also love them being saccharine and wholesome and adorable with each other :’)))

45. Favorite fluff fic? I have to rec another ikeracity fic for this one, because Order Up has been my personal comfort fic for years. <3

But since I’ve already recced two of her fics, I’ll also rec Twitterpated by zimothy! It’s absolutely precious, and I want 100k of the events leading up to it STAT <3

Markus muttered under his breath before meeting Connor’s bewildered eyes. “I have been for the past year, but thanks for noticing.”

Commentary:

This is the ultimate oblivious Connor fic and it’s super adorable and hilarious. It’s a 5+1 type of fic where Connor is oblivious five times and the one time he isn’t. Poor Markus is trying to flirt with him and invite him out on dates, but Connor doesn’t get a clue. It may seem a little out of character if you interpret Connor as someone who can tell when someone is flirting with him, but I honestly enjoyed it. It’s really cute.

Treble Clef by SerpentineTraveler

After the events at Hart Plaza, Connor has nothing to do. He's still very confused with emotions and he struggles under the weight of his actions. He eventually finds a love of music, first learning guitar from Hank, then starting to write his own music, eventually finding a job at a music store, called Treble Clef.

Commentary:

I loved this fic so much! I really like the idea of singer/song writer Connor :) also the songs are really nice (also some of my favorites) and give me the Connor vibe!
