Let me present you one of my favorite recent finds in terms of fashion designer.

I saw the work of Cunnington & Sanderson a few seasons behind at Morozzo Communication’s beautiful showroom in Paris. I was planning to shoot this brand with other models wearing the clothes but never managed to find the time and opportunity to do those editorial shootings. So, finally, when my agenda gave a green light, I borrowed some pieces and took some photos with me as the model.

I just have to show you how beautiful their clothes are !

This brand has a strong signature. They work with exquisite fabric and build interesting volume. They use a lot of draping and layering. Styling and cut are the result of extensive research with the aim to reach that perfect silhouette. 

I LOVE this brand. Their clothes are slightly edgy but they are still very easy to wear. What do you think ?

Autumn is coming soon and I love the period when the season starts to change, when the leaves start to change colour and the temperature gets cooler. It’s the best period to be stylish. The weather is not too hot so you can wear a nice woolen hat and are not sweating the whole day, and it’s still not too cold so that you don’t have to cover everything with a coat and boots. 

This autumn look is easy to wear and very parisian, don’t you agree ? Photos were taken in Square Louvois, a lovely Parisian garden with a beautiful fountain in the 2nd arrondissement of Paris.

I wear:

Shoes from Pierre Hardy (old collection). Pierre Hardy is one of my favorite shoe designers. I have had these for years and I still love them. 

Hat from Atelier Theodore new collection. If you are looking for a similar woolen hat, but slightly more affordable, I love this one from Paul Smith too.

If you are like me and obsessed with rooftops you will like this place: Les Ombres. It’s a restaurant with a view. The price is at the high-end but I think is worth the money. Sorry I didn’t take any photo of the dish as I didn’t take out my camera or my iphone during the meal. Yes I do try to stop looking at my phone every now and then ! Virtual friends are fun but nothing compared to the beloved people that I have in real life. So I put away my phone and gave my time and attention to my better half with whom I shared the excellent meal. It was only when we finished that I asked him to take some photos, so here there are. I was wearing a favorite beaded top from Magali Pascal. It reminds me of Bali as I bought it there in their lovely shop in Seminyak.

Si vous aimez les rooftops (les bars ou les restaurants sur le toit), vous allez aimer cet endroit : Les Ombres. C’est le restaurant du musée du Quai Branly et il a une vue imprenable sur la Tour Eiffel. Le prix est plutôt élevé mais je trouve que c’est justifié. Désolée, je n’ai pas pris de photos du repas parce que je n’ai pas sorti mon appareil photo ni mon iphone pendant le repas. Oui, j’essaie de ne pas regarder mon téléphone de temps en temps. Les amis virtuels sont sympas, mais ce n’est rien par rapport à des gens que j’aime dans la vraie vie. J’ai donc rangé mon téléphone et j’ai donné toute mon attention à ma chère moitié. C’était seulement quand on a fini, juste avant de quitter le lieu, que je lui ai demandé de prendre quelques photos pour ce blog, voici donc le résultat. Je portais un top de Magali Pascal que j’adore. Il me fait penser à Bali car je l’ai acheté là-bas dans leur jolie boutique à Seminyak.

Marking this as one of my favorite outfits. The combination of simplicity but rugged was just right. I see my personality in this look. That’s how I often style my looks, with character and with a story. The story behind this is I was in a rushed that I have to think fast on what to wear. One thing is for sure, I have to wear my Superga. I’ve been eyeing to buy this pair for a very long time. And I just got lucky because when I finally decided, it was the last pair. I think this pair was really meant for me because I was saving for it. When things are meant for you it will be.

I think it has been a while that I haven’t shared my look, so here it is. Having worked extensively as a photographer recently made it a little bit challenging to find some time to shoot my own personal look. These photos were shot by my dear Eve from  Beaauuu.com (and edited by me) We did the shooting in 10 minutes ! It was just after lunch and we both had meetings afterwards.

The funny thing is, when we were shooting this look, someone yelled from one of the windows above our heads, it was a girl named Tess. She was asking if we were professionals, so I said yes, I told her that I am registered at a professional photographer. It was unbelievable, I felt like I was in a movie scene. The conversation lasted for 2 minutes just to exchange phone numbers. There she was in her pyjama on her parisian window on the 1st floor and there we were on the street, Eve and me, rushing to take my photos because we were both late for our next meetings. Yet, Tess and me did meet a few days later and I did take her portraits. Moments like this make me feel that I’m so lucky. I always manage to meet the right people and be there at the right moment. I’m touching the wood, I hope it will last.

I love this coat a lot. It is from a brand that I discovered a few months ago: Ekjo. Their style is timeless yet edgy, and they always use very high quality fabric. Without saying it out loud, I can feel that they care a lot about the production process, their items are made in France or somewhere in Europe. They have been around for more than 10 years, it is unbelievable that I didn’t know about them before. This cape coat is very stylish and yet so comfortable and easy to wear. I always get so many compliments when I wear it. It makes me stand out from the crowd without looking over-dressed or too “fashionable”.

This time I wear it with a thrifted dress, a pair of very cool Hudson leather boots and a vintage belt. I guess this look is pretty much the essence of my style. Timeless but edgy. I like designer cut and designer pieces so I buy exquisite pieces from time to time but I always mix it with old and vintage items. I try to buy secondhand as much as I possible but I do buy exquisite pieces from designers I love from time to time. It is my humble contribution to support the designer because I know that it is not easy to survive in the fashion industry.

UN MANTEAU CAPE

Ca fait un moment que je n’ai pas vraiment partagé mon look donc voici avec mon manteau cape que j’adore. Comme j’ai travaillé beaucoup en tant que photographe ces derniers temps, ça a été très difficile de trouver le temps pour shooter mon look personnel. Ces photos ont été prises par ma chère Eve, la blogueuse derrière Beaauuu.com (et ensuite j’ai retouché les photos moi-même).  On a fait un shooting express qui a duré 10 minutes maxi top chrono ! C’était juste après notre déjeuner et on avait des rendez-vous juste après.

Ce qui est drôle, pendant qu’on faisait ce shooting, quelqu’un a crié depuis une des fenêtres au dessus de nos têtes. C’était une fille, elle s’appelait Tess. Elle nous a demandé si on était des professionnelles, je lui ai donc dit que j’étais une photographe professionnelle. C’était incroyable, j’avais l’impression d’être dans une scène de film. La conversation a duré 2 minutes, on a échangé nos numéros de téléphone. Imaginez donc, elle était là-haut, sur sa fenêtre parisienne, encore en pyjama, et nous, en bas dans la rue en train de se presser pour faire mon shooting car on était toutes les deux en retard. On s’est quand même rencontrées pour de vrai quelques jours plus tard Tess et moi, et je lui ai fait ses photos de portrait. Des moments comme ça, j’en ai plein, et je me sens vraiment très chanceuse. J’ai l’impression que je tombe toujours sur la bonne personne et que je suis là au bon moment. Je touche du bois, j’espère que ça va durer.

J’adore ce manteau cape. Il est de chez Ekjo, une marque que j’ai découvert il y a quelques mois. Leur style est intemporel et en même temps très pointu. Je l’adore car ils n’utilisent que de belles matières. Sans le crier sur les toits, je sens qu’ils font vraiment attention à leur processus de fabrication. Quasiment tous les articles sont fabriqués en France ou en Europe. Ils existent depuis plus de 10 ans et je trouve que c’est incroyable que je ne les connaissais pas avant. Ce manteau cape a beaucoup de style, il est très confortable et facile à porter. Je reçois toujours beaucoup de compliments quand je le porte. Il me fait sortir du lot sans me donner l’impression d’être déguisée ou victime de la mode.

Cette fois-ci je le porte avec une robe que j’ai chinée dans un vide-grenier, une paire de bottines en cuir de la marque anglaise Hudson et une ceinture fine vintage. Je crois que ce look illustre parfaitement mon style personnel, plutôt intemporel avec une petite touche d’originalité. J’adore les vêtements des créateurs donc j’achète des pièces exceptionnelles de temps en temps mais je les mixe toujours avec mes vieux vêtements et des articles vintage. J’essaie de privilégier les achats de seconde-main mais j’achète aussi des pièces de créateurs. C’est ma modeste contribution pour supporter les créateurs que j’aime car je sais que ce n’est pas facile de survivre dans l’industrie de la mode.

Here is a look with the best pearl that I found in New York recently. I wrote an article about the trip here, I mentioned the place where I discovered this amazingly beautiful 100% cashmere long cardigan. It is made by Barrie, house of premium cashmere knitwear. They are the supplier to the most prestigious fashion houses, including Chanel who acquired the company in 2012.

I could organize the trip to New York with Eve from the blog Beaauuu thanks to the crowdfunding campaign I did in January, it was really amazing and we both found some really nice “pearls”.

After New York, normally Amsterdam should follow but in the past few weeks I have been thinking a lot about it and have been hesitating whether I should continue to organize a trip to Amsterdam next month or not. The thing is, I am still “working” on Rolling Pearl’s new concept (actually I don’t have much time lately, so it is more of “thinking” and “adding it to my already very long to-do list” rather than really “working” on it...) and this trip is supposed to be the kick-off of this new concept. 

So I am not totally ready to present you the new face of Rolling Pearl but the King’s Day in Amsterdam is only once a year, if I miss it this April I’ll have to wait for next year to experience it. I am therefore announcing that I will be organizing a trip to Amsterdam on behalf of Rolling Pearl. I will actually transform Rolling Pearl to become a community of “pearl finders”. This type of trips will be part of Rolling Pearl’s new activities. Here are the details:

TRIP: FINDING PEARLS IN AMSTERDAM

Dates: 26th - 28th March. Trip is open for women only. Number of places available: 3 (we will be 4 women).

Program:

26 April - Discover your fellow traveller’s hidden talents (yes, I only take fun and talented people !). Start to discover Amsterdam (especially if you arrive earlier), discover its food, coffee shops, hidden alleys, beautiful canals. Basically start realizing that you are in AMSTERDAM !

27 April - Amsterdam’s gigantic King’s Day annual flea market (we will hunt Amsterdam’s “pearls” and you will have me as your personal guide and personal shopper. We will find some treasures together. No bad purchases and 100% fun times. It is basically the only day of the year where the whole city is transformed into a gigantic free market, there will be a lot of festivities and the locals will all wear orange.

28 April - continue to discover Amsterdam, we’ll spend the whole morning to do some photo shoots with the beautiful Amsterdam as the backdrop. I am a professional photographer. Each participant is guaranteed to have some nice professionally edited images from Amsterdam. Trip ends at lunch time.

What’s included: EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME. A personal shopper and stylist to help you hunt for Amsterdam's best pearls. At least 10 professionally edited images, in high resolution, for each participant. 2 nights in a shared accomodation. If you are looking to have your own private room this trip is not for you. We will be sharing a room with 4 beds in a basic hotel in central Amsterdam. Breakfast included.

This trip is for you if you are passionate about hunting for fashion treasures, travel and photography If you are a blogger, this trip is an opportunity not to be missed.

What’s NOT included : lunch, dinner and snacks during the trip, your personal shopping and transportation to get to Amsterdam. 

Return trip Paris-Amsterdam will cost around 70 EUR by train (3,5 hours, you can get it here ) and 20 EUR by bus (7 hours, you can get it here). Meeting and departure point is the hotel in Amsterdam.
