Which musicians could be considered to be the most respected in the history of popular music? There are certainly many candidates who would have deserved such a title. I would suggest the Beatles are the best group for this. Of course, there are several reasons for that, though the most important one might be they rewrote the rules of the popular music. While many of their innovations got changed later on, some of them still are. For instance, they are rumoured to be those who established a form of an album as a unit. Each LP of theirs felt cohesive, they didn't just put some songs together and went to lunch. No, they found a way to make the pieces fit. I agree, this form they constructed does feel like a thing of the past, yet I think the streaming still follows that protocol.
