In honour of publishing my 30th fic to Ao3, here are some of my works I'd like to recommend!!
Sara Kingdom has gone mad (maybe she's right?)
Whilst the Doctor, Steven and Katarina rest on Urbinia, Sara's life carries on. Until it doesn't. She needs to make things right again, she's not sure how she knows but its clear that things are not supposed to happen like this.
What was happening to Sara during Daughter of the Gods. An AU mixed with some character study.
Slipping through my fingers
'Barbara stumbled over to the Doctor at the central console. “Doctor, it’s- it’s Susan.” “What of her?” He harrumphed. “Can’t you see I’m trying to work!” He was polishing the center column with an antiquated handkerchief. “She’s… well…” “Spit it out!” The old man demanded, throwing the handkerchief down on the console. “Something’s happened- she explained some of it but I still don’t understand. A… renewal.”'
What if instead of the Doctor meeting new companions like Vicki, Katarina etc, they were all part of Susan's regeration cycle? This is unfinished but still in a place where I'm happy with it.
Distraction or Connection
'“I’ve been… travelling.” She muttered, “It’s hard to keep track these days.” “Not the type to settle down then?” “I don’t know what you’re insinuating.” Sara replied hastily, though she absolutely knew what he meant. “What about you then, how’s ‘settling down’ working out for you?” She threw the question back at him and he gave a coy grin. “Well, who’s to say I want that? I’m having fun, I’m not about to throw all t’at away.” “Oh, really? Fun sounds nice.” She’s half sarcastic, half serious. It had been a stressful time recently, maybe she needed some relief.' Needing a break from travelling on the Tardis, Sara seeks comfort in a familiar face.
Technically a crossover between Doctor Who and 1960s police drama Z-Cars. Sara is blissfully unaware that the guy she meets in a bar and spends the night with is an uncanny lookalike to Steven (he's a Z-Cars character played by Peter Purves).
The place where nothing is impossible
The Doctor had thought he'd known his companion well, but after this incident he's starting to doubt it. Steven is having a crisis, Dodo is stuck in a jam jar and the Doctor is sulking because they won't let him do riddles in peace.
The Season 3 Tardis team in The Mind Robber, with Steven having his face swapped with 1980s Blue Peter presenter Peter Duncan.
The World is Upside Down (The King has lost his Crown)
King Steven entertains an unfamiliar visitor to his court. He arrives one morning, materialising along with the dusky red sun of the planet Steven had come to call his home. He is not who Steven wanted, not at all.
Steven meets Delgado!Master meets the Third Doctor- chaos ensues. This one has spiralled and now Steven has a new situationship. I WILL keep updating.
The Final Verdict
'There was no running. There was no hiding. Time, and fate, had simply caught up to them.' The Doctor had no choice but to invoke the time lords and their wrath, Steven and Dodo would suffer for this neccesity for the rest of their lives.
The season 3 Tardis Team vs The War Games part 10, I apologise for my cruelty in this.
Fading out the summer of '69
Nearing the end of the 1969 summer trip everyone is looking forward to starting a fresh new decade. Val isn't sure how she can make a change, Peter helps.
This isn't Doctor Who but instead 1960s Blue Peter RPF, which I know doesn't interest many people but I liked writing it so I'll add it here in the hope that I can entice people into reading Peter Purves and Valerie Singleton fluff :)
Though the waves leap, soft shall ye sleep
The Doctor had, in that moment, been cold. Jamie couldn't blame him- he knew what that felt like. The Doctor and Jamie take a trip through a past of 'emptiness', the Doctor isn't so sure that word applies.
This was done for Twojamie week 2025: Home/Heart. 9000 words of a queerplatonic Twojamie Jamie character study. I have made someone cry with this (you know who you are) which says a lot about it I think.
The most beautiful theorem in the universe
'“Alright then.” Steven said, giving in to the Doctor’s barely concealed enthusiasm. “But you’re going to have to help me.” “I- I beg your pardon?” “I’ve just said I can’t get into it by myself.” Steven stated plainly though his face was beginning to blush red, “So… I need you- to tie me in.”'
The Doctor gets freaky about lacing Steven into a corset. Inspired by a Blue Peter episode where Peter Purves genuinely does get corseted. This is for all the OneSteven fans (me included) out there.
