Pixar gave a small hints on Domee Shi's new movie and Peter Sohn on directing "The Incredibles 3" as working with Brad Bird again during a new episode of The Pixar Show.
The Wall Street Journal reported that Shi's new film is Pixar's first musical movie described as "A rebellion against the traditional Disney musical"

It’s a pretty cute romantic comedy, and the animation effects on the fire people looks great. It kinda struggles to make us not think of every other movie Disney/Pixar has put out recently. The city is too reminiscent of Zootopia (presumably so Disney could make a theoretical theme park land easily) and the themes and plot are very predictable. How many times are we gonna do generational trauma? It’s also another one of those things where thinking about it too much is gonna make the racism metaphor fall apart. About what we expect out of all recent Pixars: looks great, works fine, really needed more time to cook to actually feel like a movie and not a number on Disney’s revenue charts.
