alright you mad lads it's time for a personal care thing that's probably pretty different from the normal ones you'd see
so i've been struggling with depression and anxiety for a while and get things like executive dysfunction and insomnia because of them. and, hell, i probably have even more things wrong with me too. my therapist is like 87% sure i have either ADD or ADHD, and there's probably a bunch more undiagnosed things too
so basically i can be really impulsive and childish sometimes, then slingshot to being way too mature for my age and suddenly not understanding social cues whatsoever and missing vocal and body language. so sometimes it's really hard for me to figure out how i can get out of a rut that i'm in.
but!!! i have things!! so uhhhh gear up for my little post abt things i do/have done that make me a little happier or feel a little better
-i buy stupid things that make me happy
they're never super expensive because i'm not rich whatsoever but they're just little and fun and stupid and i like them. prime examples of this are:
-a really soft stuffed rabbit from walgreens
-a light-up dragon skull that can hold things
-a fake succulent in a whale with a broken tail
-paper fan things that match my room
i hate routines. i hate doing the exact same thing every. single. day. but little small routines??? love them. 10/10. so a few little things i do most, if not every day:
-tea before bed!! god i'm like addicted to tea it's so good and warm and hhhhhhhhhhh o t l e a f j u i c e
-every morning i give myself 30 minutes before school starts to relax for a bit so i'll get at least a little free time
-scrolling mindlessly through tumblr can actually be really theraputic at times tbh. i do this when waking up and before going to sleep, normally.
oh god. yeah, i know, i know. i struggle with my hygiene so much, especially because of the executive dysfunction. as i'm typing this, i actually don't remember the last time i brushed my teeth because i just,,,,,couldn't make myself??? showering and doing laundry can be really hard too, so a couple things i do in the meantime are:
-use Febreeze (or another similar product). dirty clothes smell. trash smells. if you can't bring yourself to clean it up, at least make your room smell better.
-open windows! letting rooms air out can actually make you feel a lot better. airflow is underrated kids
-play your music out loud!! don't exist in a cave of darkness all day!! if you can't get outside to talk to people and be in the sun, pull up your blinds and dance around or listen to music or talk online!! don't isolate!!!!
-dry shampoo is my s a v i o u r . it's not a perfect fix, by any means, but is infinitely better than dripping grease all day. if you use it too many days in a row, it will slowly start to lose it's ability to clean really well, and can make an itchy layer on your scalp, so it's not ideal, but better than nothing. i use the Batiste coconut one :)
-gum can be really good just to get some plaque off your teeth. it's by no means the best (brushing with toothpaste is, obviously), but if you can't get up, chew some gum! it can also get rid of morning breath
-dedicate one corner to chaos. back home, we've got 'the corner of doom', where we just throw things when we can't be bothered or aren't able to put something away. having one spot to throw your things is better than leaving them lying around everywhere.
so uhh yea these are my tips,,,,,,anyways some of them might work for you, some of them might not. they're all good for me though so i hope they can help out!!
also if any of you want i can post pictures of some of my small purchases that make me unreasonably happy for what they are
