'Okay,' Robbie said, adjusting his jacket. He straightened. 'Actually, hang on. My hair doesn't look right.'
He started fixing it in the mirror, fluffing it and sweeping it to the side only to undo it and start again. He was careful not to smudge any of Lacey's hard work.
Callum watched on from behind the camera, a smile slowly curving across his face, but it was Phoebe, George, and Esther bursting into laughter that got Robbie's attention.
He looked over at them, then at Callum, noticing his grin.
'What?' he asked defensively. 'I'm gonna be on camera. I need to look my best, alright? Even if I'm dead or undead or whatever. It ain't shallow.'
'It definitely is,' Esther said with another snort of laughter.
'But it's okay,' George said. 'Stars are allowed to be as shallow as they like. As long as you don't wreck those clothes we made, take as long as you need to make yourself look pretty.'
'Shut up,' Robbie grumbled.
He rolled his eyes, then they drifted to Callum again. A slight raise of his eyebrows, asking if he thought the same. If he was judging him.
Callum tried to contain his smile, but it was already a losing battle.
'You look good to me,' he blurted out. His ace flushed, his eyes widening slightly as they darted to the rest of the group.
Esther and George had both covered their mouths to hide their amusement, while Lacey and Phoebe rolled their eyes, their patience already wearing thin. They had already been waiting to start shooting the scene for an hour between getting Robbie and Phoebe ready and setting up all the equipment. It was evident that the zombie makeup was starting to irritate Phoebe as she gently scratched around the hole in her cheek. Lacey swatted her hand.
Callum took a breath, brushing it off. 'Can we get on with it now?'
Robbie was glowing now. He waved his hands, cleared his throat and got back into position. As Callum moved back behind the camera, Robbie looked at him down the lens and winked, grinning.
'Roll the camera, director.'
