"There is no us," you said to Pietro, tears forming in your eyes. "There never was. There was a fantasy. A dream. That we could be together. That you would be faithful to me. That you'd care about me and my feelings."
"I do," Pietro said. "It was one time. It was an accident and it will never happen again, I swear."
"No. That's not fair to me. I shouldn't have to worry about whether you drank too much to remember you have a girlfriend. Or worry that some girl who flirts with you, will make you forget about me."
"It won't happen again. You can't just break up with me."
Summary/Request: Requested by anon: Hey can you do a quicksilver x reader where the reader falls asleep on pietro an it's just a lot of fluff and cuteness??????????
Notes: a) Wasn’t sure if you meant x-men Peter or Marvel Pietro since I usually associate ‘Quicksilver’ with Peter and then Pietro as just Pietro, but I assumed you meant Marvel, so sorry if I got that wrong. b) more from Pietro’s point of view since reader is asleep. c) little bit of an AU where y’know he doesn’t die.
It wasn’t uncommon that you curled up next to Pietro, after everything that had happened there was a comforting in knowing that he was there and that he was alive. It was, however, uncommon for you to fall asleep against him. Usually you got tired and had the awareness to go to your room and get into bed, rather than stay where you were.
But today you had been more exhausted than usual. Perhaps it was that you were still recovering from a pretty bad cold or perhaps it was the fact that you’d all had to deal with another evil person attempting to destroy everything. But you’d been so exhausted that within ten minutes of curling up next to Pietro you’d fallen asleep.
Not that he was complaining.
It was nice; the warmth of you pressed against him, the little smile that pulled at your lips hopefully due to a good dream, the softness of you against him. Just having another person there, someone other than his sister that trusted him enough to fall asleep.
You were lovely on a day to day basis, kind and funny, pretty...but even asleep he was drawn to you. Found his eyes tracing the contours of your face. God, you were cute. He didn’t even think he’d be alive after everything and he was and now added onto that he spent half his time with you. Adorable and sweet and far too good for anyone.
He wouldn’t even care if you started drooling on him, you were that lovely, that good a friend. If only it was more than that.
Summary/Request: Requested by anon: Would you ever do a Pietro Maximoff/plus size reader or OC where she is confident and hugs everyone but him, because she's in love with him and gets quiet when he's around? Maybe he gets jealous of how she gives affection to everyone except him. Thank you.
You don’t hug Pietro. You hug Wanda, Steve, Bucky, Sam, Tony, Natasha, Bruce, even Vision...but you don’t hug Pietro and it’s started to really get to him. From his point of view he thought there was something wrong with him. Obviously there was something about him you didn’t like...which really upset him considering he thought you were pretty and tried his best to flirt with you to let you know he was interested.
On your end is less about dislike and more about liking him too much. You were a confident adult; you’d long since she’d any self-consciousness you had about your large thighs, wide hips, and soft stomach, but your confidence and exuberance around people you saw as just friends didn’t translate over to those you had an interest in. You got quiet when you liked someone, really quiet, pulled back from them, overthought every action. You didn’t hug him because you were sure he’d know you liked him if you did and you were sure that the speedster wouldn’t return those feelings.
The feelings that had you laying awake at night dreaming of a world in which he would like you back, in which you’d hold hands and cuddle, go for dates, fight side by side.
After months Pietro finally had enough. Finally had enough of brooding over it in silence not knowing why you didn’t like him, why you hugged everyone but him, why he was such an outcast from your friendship. How was he supposed to hope for more when you wouldn’t even give him basic friendship?
You were eating your breakfast when he came speeding in, a silver blur before he was suddenly sat in front of you with a mug of coffee and a bowl of cereal;. “Why not me?”
“What? Pietro?” You didn’t understand the question without its context and you stared at him confused but also nervous. That familiar feeling in your stomach that happened when you were around him, when you were under such careful attention from him.
“Why do you hug everyone else and not me? Am I that horrible that you don’t want to go near me?” It was accusing, angry, upset, and you hadn’t even realised that by treating him differently you’d upset him, made him think you disliked him.
“Pietro, it’s not like that...” You rubbed your hands across your thick thighs, nerves making them feel clammy. This conversation was too close to the truth that you’d been trying to hide and you were absolutely terrified that you’d mess it up and letting something slip that shouldn’t.
“So you don’t hate me?”
“No, of course not! I...” really like you. You stop yourself from saying it. You don’t want to deal with the rejection that might happen or even the possibility that your life could change completely by him liking you back. If he did you weren’t sure how you’d react.
“Then...why don’t you hug me? You hug everyone else...” He’s just confused now, not upset, he believes you when you say you don’t hate him, that it’s not about him being horrible or repulsive, but he still doesn’t understand.
You realise that you don’t have any other choice than to tell him the truth. If you avoid it it’ll still be a question hanging in the air, if you lie you’ll feel guilty, the truth is the only option as horrible as the prospect of telling him is.
“Because I like you more than I like them. Because it’s not just a friendly hug when it’s you...” You shrug, avoiding his eyes.
He knows he’s blinking at you, mouth agape because of all the explanations as to why you refused to hug him that was the one he hadn’t even thought of. You...you liked him...you more than liked him.
It takes him a few moments to compose himself, to gather his thoughts, to come to terms with the idea that you like him as more than a friend, more than an acquaintance, that you’re interested in him.
“You don’t have to avoid hugging me because of that.”
“I...I didn’t want you to know, I know you probably don’t feel the same way and I...I didn’t want to make it uncomfortable.” The sort of uncomfortable that you are now, as you shift in your seat and roll your shoulders back and forth.
“I do though.” You look up, brows furrowed, mouth open, “I like you and...that’s why it bothered me so much.”
“Oh...well, I suppose I can start hugging you now.” You smile at him nervously. He likes you, not something you’d planned on, but not something you’re unhappy about either.
