Five+ times Sherlock Holmes played the violin, and one time he did not.
Hi steph! This one was just a drabble so in a way this is complete..😅 I suppose this is the last one, unless I find more on my old hard-drive. Hope you enjoy this one too!
Also, I didn't know whether I wanted this to be in modern day or Victorian so it might be a little messy. You tell me, what it feels like to you
They had met at Cambridge.
In those days, Sherlock had been an island—a sharp, jagged piece of land that local shipping lanes deliberately avoided. He was the freak who could tell a lecturer where he’d spent his weekend based on the chalk dust on his cuffs, the boy who didn't speak unless it was to humiliate a peer or correct a professor. He wore his isolation like armor, convinced that the human heart was a chemical defect found on the losing side of an equation.
And then there was John.
John Watson had been the sun around which the university’s elite rotated. He was a creature of effortless privilege and devastating charm, possessed of a sharp, classical beauty—blonde hair that fell perfectly over a high forehead, stormy blue eyes that seemed to hold a permanent, secret amusement. Where Sherlock was all sharp angles and sudden, erratic movements, John moved with the fluid, dangerous grace of a panther in a tailored suit.
He was always surrounded. In the courtyard of Trinity College, in the smoky corners of local pubs, in the grand library halls—there was always a flock. Students, professors, women, men; they clung to his words as if he were handing out currency.
Sherlock had spent three months observing him. He told himself it was an ethnological study. A data-gathering exercise on the mechanics of unearned popularity. He would sit three tables away in the dining hall, a book open but his eyes fixed on the way John’s fingers wrapped around a cold glass of water, the specific pitch of his laugh, the way he would lean in close to someone, creating an instant, intoxicating illusion of intimacy.
"It’s just a socio-biological anomaly," Sherlock had written in his journal during his second term. "The subject possesses a high degree of facial symmetry and a voice frequency that triggers dopamine release in inferior minds. My accelerated pulse when he enters a room is merely a physiological response to an overcrowded environment."
It was a lie, of course. The first real lie Sherlock Holmes had ever told himself. His heart didn't beat faster because the room was crowded; it beat faster because John Watson had a habit of looking directly through the crowd, past the sycophants and the admirers, straight into the dark corner where Sherlock sat, and smile.
The first time John spoke to him had been in the dead of winter, beneath the stone arches of the cloisters. Sherlock had been retreating from a disastrous chemistry lab, his hands stained with silver nitrate, his mind furious with the slowness of his lab partner.
John had stepped out from the shadows, entirely alone for once. He hadn't used the loud, performative tone he used with his circle. He had spoken softly, his voice low that seemed to vibrate directly against Sherlock’s spine.
"You’ve been watching me for eighty-four days, Holmes," John had said, leaning against the cold stone wall, his light eyes glittering in the twilight. "If you want to know what I taste like, you only have to ask. You don't need to keep taking notes."
Sherlock had frozen, every synapse in his brain firing at once, a catastrophic system failure. He had tried to formulate a scathing retort, a brilliant deduction that would tear the popular boy’s ego to shreds. But John had simply stepped closer, close enough that Sherlock could smell the winter air and expensive clove tobacco on his wool coat.
John hadn't humiliated him. He hadn't called out to his friends to laugh at the strange, pale boy from Christ’s College. He had reached out, his gloved fingers gently brushing a stray lock of dark hair from Sherlock’s forehead, his thumb lingering against the skin of Sherlock's temple just long enough to feel the frantic, terrified thudding of his pulse.
"Don't look so frightened," John had murmured, a devastatingly beautiful smile touching his lips. "Your secret is entirely safe with me."

ASDLFJA:SDLFJ PEACOCK NONNY!!!! I adore all of these fics that you keep sending us, and you have a small following of people who are happy that even if you never publish these, you still continue to share them with us, even if it prompts someone else to write more <3

28k, mature, raising rosie together
Author’s Summary: An adorable (but unacceptable!) photo of Sherlock and Rosie on the Mail online, a stolen Picasso, and a slip of the tongue force John to re-evaluate his long held assumptions.
My Summary: I devoured this story in 2 hours, I just adore Sherlock’s devotion to Rosie in this. I also loved that John’s help with casework comes in handy, too! No mentions of eurus or mary.
Your recs are brilliant. Do you ship any other ships? If yes, any fics that you’ve enjoyed? :)
i shipped johnlock once upon a time, and some of the fics that i remember being really good are:
A Chemical Defect Found (On the Losing Side Remix) by AreteArt
A remix of missselene's "On the Losing Side." After Mary's death, John moves back into Baker Street. He and Sherlock stumble into a relationship, or something of that sort. Sherlock's rather giving when it comes to sex, but that doesn't mean he and John ever talk about it.

ugh this made me hurt so bad
2. Gordian by fresne (@fresne999)
On any given day, Sherlock might come out of the bathroom smelling like an Alpha on the hunt (Alpha #8) or an Omega in heat (Omega #9), a Beta brooding (Beta #3), or like no gender at all. The last one was his actual scent, which wasn't so much scentless as confusing. At least in an adult. If Sherlock and John were the sort of people to read Mills and Boon novels, they could have said that what occurred was because destiny intervened and set two destined lovers in their one true pairings' path. It was the lasagna.

Another proof that these two are always looking at each other even when they aren't.
Because how else do you throw and catch a pen like this?
‘The many times Sherlock talked to Greg in confidence’ or more widely known as ‘A minor upset in routine’
4-
It had been three days since the girlfriend incident and Sherlock had yet to leave Greg’s flat. John hadn’t put any effort into locating the detective in his absence which only seemed to upset him more. Greg was starting to get worried he wouldn’t go back.
Sherlock spent most of his day ruining the kitchen while Greg was at work. Finding various, uninteresting things to keep himself occupied but still three days later, drowning in boredom he refused to leave the flat. As the hours went by he was only getting more insufferable.
“Just go, Sherlock!” Greg huffed in exasperation, actually throwing his hands up in annoyance. “If you hate it here so much just leave, you could go anywhere and John still wouldn’t find you.”
“I don’t care about John.” Sherlock looked up at the ceiling sullenly from the couch, arms crossed childishly.
“If that was true you wouldn’t have come here in the first place.” He sighed and say back in his chair, rubbing a hand over his face. “Look, why don’t I just talk to him-“
“Absolutely not.” A glare was sent his way but Greg was immune to them by now.
“Im just saying maybe he is looking for you and actually can’t find you. You know he doesn’t think you’d actually stay with me for any length of time. Why don’t I just tell him you’re here and he can come make it up to you or whatever it is you want him to do.”
“If John we’re searching for me he’d have -obviously- texted before anything else. Which hadn’t happened.” He held up his phone and turned on the screen as proof there were no messages. “So clearly he doesn’t care and neither do I. I’ll just live here..”
“I said a day Sherlock not the rest of your life.” Greg shook his head firmly. “Just go back and talk it out, I doubt he even thinks you’re upset with him.”
“I’m not upset. I just find it very inconvenient that he wishes to take up the entire of the flat for himself and his ‘girlfriends’ so I’m giving him what he wants.” He turned away from him to make his point clear and Greg didn’t hear another word out of him the rest of the night.
——
Two days later John came to the door with a more annoyed demeanor than Sherlock had had the last week. Greg excused himself to the bedroom and tried his hardest not to listen in but it was inevitable.
There was a great deal of yelling at first that Greg couldn’t make out and then a long silence, not much longer later two pairs of footsteps made their way out of the building. He waited a moment or two before venturing out.
They were both gone as he heard as well as the few things Sherlock had brought with him. He shook his head somewhat to himself, not entirely sure what to make of it but glad he was finally able to clean his kitchen and know it would stay that way.
In the end of things he was glad that they ended up patching things up and hopefully he wouldn’t get Sherlock on his couch for anymore length of time. He really did rather when they were together and John balanced him out a bit better.
Later on the night he got a text from John that made him chuckle and put the event behind him knowing it was all okay just with that.
‘Thanks for making sure he wasn’t doing anything stupid. I owe you a few pints’

From @johnlocky:
“I loved working on this Podfic. This story gives us a glimpse into Sherlock and John's minds (alternating) as they first get to know each other. Awkwardness and misunderstanding, but also budding warmth, caring, friendship, tenderness and love are so palpable in this story. It also touches some of the aspects of Sherlock's psyche in terms of his ability to withdraw from feelings related to some of his cases, and you will be surprised by what's actually in his mind and how it all really affects him. Huge thanks to the brilliant @J_Baillier, this was a joy and honor to record.“

(Combining two prompts for this one because I might miss a writing day later)
Sometimes Sherlock was the one who read Rosie her bedtime stories and put her to bed at night, and sometimes it was John. They almost never did it together, but tonight, after John had given her a bath and gone upstairs with her, Sherlock had a sudden breakthrough on the case he'd been working on. He texted Lestrade and then ran up the stairs, eager to tell John about how clever the killer had been in hiding his crimes.
John had already finished reading Rosie's book; he was now singing a song to her, softly enough that Sherlock could barely make out the tune. He stopped in the doorway, unwilling to interrupt the moment, but when he had finished singing, John turned and beckoned him into the room. "Rosie doesn't want you to miss your goodnight kiss."
"And I wouldn't want to miss my goodnight kiss from such a wonderful little girl." Solving the case had put him into an ebullient mood. He crossed the room, making a mental note to tell John about the case later tonight instead.
John stood up from the bed to allow Sherlock access, and Rosie sat up, threw her arms around Sherlock's neck, and smacked him on the cheek with her lips. He kissed her nose delicately in return and then stepped back from the bed.
"Now you, Daddy!" Rosie stretched her arms towards John, who obliged with a series of three kisses.
"Hugs!" Rosie declared, and John wrapped his arms around her for a moment, and planted another kiss on top of her head.
"Now Sherlock hug!"
"I think someone is trying to delay her bedtime," John said, but stepped out of the way again to let Sherlock give her a hug.
She did try to prolong it, but eventually Sherlock pried himself out of her arms and straightened up. "Now that you've had extra hugs and kisses tonight, you'll have to sleep twice as long."
The joke was a bit over her head, but Rosie ignored it anyway. "Now your turn! You hug Daddy!"
Sherlock's smile slipped. Not a usual part of the bedtime routine, by far. He and John had certainly hugged one another on a number of occasions, but only in times of emotional extremes. It definitely wasn't a casual, everyday occurrence. He glanced sideways to gauge John's reaction.
John's eyebrows went up, questioning, as if Sherlock were the one who might object to Rosie's demand.
Sherlock turned to face him, spreading his arms. He wasn't going to pass up an opportunity to put his arms around John, even if it wasn't in the context he would prefer.
John stepped towards him and they embraced; John was warm and solid and entirely too enticing in his arms. Sherlock let himself linger perhaps longer than was wise, though in his defense he did feel the need to savor such a rare opportunity. But John didn't seem to be trying to pull away, either. He had his arms firmly wrapped around Sherlock's torso, his hands resting lightly on his back. The hug went on for several seconds, until Rosie called out, "Now kiss, too!"
Without thinking twice about it, Sherlock tipped his chin down. John tipped his head up at the same moment, and their lips pressed together. Had he been aiming for John's lips, or had it just happened?
It was a brief kiss, chaste, of course, though far, far different from any kiss Sherlock had shared before, and not simply because it was with John. It was if a small spark of electricity passed between them, though there was no carpet in the room likely to have given them a shock. Kissing John was simply...electrifying.
Perhaps Sherlock shouldn't have been surprised. He'd known he loved John; he'd known he was attracted to him, as well. He had not known how desperately he wanted to kiss him. How could he have? He'd never known kisses could feel like that. Weren't they simply something done for show, to signal that you were interested in another person? And yet that simple press of lips they had just shared, while a far cry from an intimate kiss of lovers, had made every nerve in Sherlock's body leap in joy.
As they pulled away from each other, John made a small sound, almost a hum, as if he'd just read something of interest in the morning paper. Sherlock scanned his face quickly, knowing it was a risk to stare but unable to help himself. The sound John had made had been pleased, without a doubt. Yet now his eyes were cast down, not looking at Sherlock, and he turned his body away quickly, bending forward to pull the blanket on Rosie's bed up, encouraging her to lie down. His voice sounded different, too, gruffer than it had been a few moments earlier. What did it all mean? John hadn't objected to the kiss, had moved automatically to offer it, had made a sound of enjoyment, and yet now did not want to acknowledge it.
Of course. Not hard to interpret at all, really. John didn't want to admit, perhaps even to himself, that he had enjoyed kissing a man. Sherlock had long suspected that John might be bisexual but in denial about it, and now here was another bit of evidence to support that theory.
He stepped away from the bed, leaving John to finish tucking Rosie in for the night.
"Night, Daddy!" Rosie trilled. "Night, Sherlock."
"Goodnight, my sweet little rose," Sherlock said, watching as John turned away from the bed. Yes, he was clearly embarrassed and regretted the kiss. Why else would he walk so quickly past Sherlock, headed towards the stairs?
Sherlock lingered for a moment longer, giving John time to get downstairs without him. When he finally judged it safe to follow, he couldn't stop himself from glancing into John's bedroom as he passed it by on his way to the staircase. They'd separated the space up here over a year ago, when Rosie had moved from a cot to a regular bed. At the time, Sherlock had entertained an elaborate fantasy of confessing that his feelings for John went far beyond friendship and suggesting that John did not need to continue to sleep alone upstairs. He could sense that fantasy trying to make a resurgence now, prompted of course by that brief, brilliant kiss, but he squashed it down. There was no sense in having a dream that couldn't come true.
