Today we say goodbye to Costa Rica and end our most excellent adventure. We have experienced so much - it's hard to fathom the last 16 days: hiking through dense jungle, swimming in the warm blue ocean, observing an array of wildlife up close in natural habitats, snorkelling next to a sea turtle, feeding calves, zip-lining, meeting new people, learning to speak Spanish, trying new foods, flying on a 12 seater plane, waking up to the sound of howler monkeys, seeing sea turtles lay eggs by moonlight, spying on a sleeping pygmy silky anteater, sailing next to a pod of humpback whales, surviving scary night walks, taking a dip by a jungle waterfall, experiencing thunderstorms like no other, watching the sunset as bats flit about in the sky, relaxing in hot springs, staying in incredibly remote locations, listening to exquisite birdsong and spending time with some very old trees. All of this with the most wonderful travel companion - my better half. This is my face after hiking a couple of miles through beach and jungle in just my swimming costume and walking boots. Not in my wildest dreams would I ever have thought that I'd be able to do that - but I did! Nothing bad happened. I felt the sun on my skin, chatted, spotted different creatures and saw the most stunning views. I turn 30 this month and, while I'm frustrated that it took so long to feel this free, I cannot wait for more adventures.
