PEGASUS CUP - The (my) horse version of Cars' Piston Cup 🏆
The biggest horse racing/derby event in World of Horses!!!
It works like an average irl derby except theres no one riding the horses, they race by themselves, and the crowd are animals since its an animal only world.
So there are no multiple laps, unlike Car races,-only one. Well, a horse wouldn't survive that XD
!About!
-Only thoroughbred or cross thoroughbreds allowed: minimum 1/2 of thoroughbred blood
-Unlike Cars' piston cup, whose racers are almost always male, the Pegasus cup have many females racing aswell, M and F number of racers on a track are nearly the same
-Racers that have a bigger degree of professionalism, winning achievements and/or good pedigree and genetics may produce inheritors to continue their legacy and keep the cup alive as they retire (or even in their ongoing career); working as broodmares and studs. Racers that don't meet these conditions are mostly not allowed to produce inheritors for Pegasus cup.
-There is no cruelty. Sadly, real world horse racing industry is not very friendly. Irl, the horses start racing career as young as 1 year old, which's really young and theyre very prone to injuries. Its a very intense and unnatural training. And when they're done racing, they're discarded like an object, which is terrible
In my world, since it's peopleless, it works very differently...
•The racehorses, sired by other race horses, live a rather well balanced life and training. Their proccess is friendly and natural. The training begins at 3-4 years old and its all on their own pace. These thoroughbreds aren't forced to race if they don't want to, but most love racing!
•They wish when to stop, thought for the sake of health it's recommended from maximum 12-15 years. When they retire they're not discarded, they just keep living their lifes
•If they suffer an accident, like Doc did, they are not killed unless it's something extremely serious and uncurable. They receive proper care but sadly most can't go back racing
•The racers are raised mostly by 1 of their parents- sire or dam. Most pregnancies are surrogacies and romantic couple foals are rare. It's rare for 2 racers to become a couple-Normally they have a partner from other breed (like The King, he's engaged with a draft horse (Lynda)) or they're simply too busy to date. The King however worked as a stud in his racing years, he has many foals-something very common for succesful racers like him. Some choose to not procceed as stud/broodmare, they're not forced or anything.
I just wrote a new Pixar Cars one-shot. It's exploring what I think could possibly go on behind closed doors in the Piston Cup, and also dives into the psyche of Strip Weathers.

June 9th was the 18th Anniversary of the very first Cars movie and the beginning of the entire Cars franchise 😀
Unfortunately I wasn't able to make a drawing to celebrate the exact day of the anniversary, but now it's done so I can post it here too 😅
