"Thumper's your monster?"
(That scene in Monster's Inc, but with Flik and Dot.)
"Fine, my chair's more comfortable anyway."
Flik sighed and turned to leave the room, already calculating how much disinfectant he would need to ensure his bed was germ-free the next time he slept in it. Three bottles of bleach will probably do the trick, and I never liked the color of that bedspread much anyway...
His thoughts were interrupted by a yelp from behind. He turned around to find the tiny occupant of his bed, nicknamed "Dot" due to the spray of freckles across her nose, babbling incoherently as she pointed at something straight ahead of her.
Irritation flared in Flik's chest. First this little human invaded his sleeping quarters, and now she had the audacity to delay his unsuccessful attempt at sleeping for no reason.
"It's just a closet. Will you go to sleep?" he snapped.
Dot blinked, her blue eyes nearly eclipsed by her growing pupils. She quietly turned to the stack of papers on the blanket beside her, shuffling through them until she found the one she was looking for, then held it up for Flik to see.
Despite the alarm bells going off in his brain, he took a step closer to the girl and squinted to get a better look at what she was showing him.
It was one of the drawings she'd made while Flik tossed Fruit Loops into her mouth from afar. For an illustration done by a child, it wasn't half bad. He could tell right away that it was supposed to be a monster — a green, six-limbed creature with sharp teeth, crazy-looking eyes, and two antennae sticking out of his skull.
"Hey, that looks like Thumper," Flik said slowly, his mouth spreading into an amused grin at the uncanny resemblance to his rival.
Dot looked at her picture, then back at him. She blinked again.
"Thumper's your monster?"
