His mom is this badass bisexual stone butch (the three golden b’s) ice road trucker from Canada, she is often on The Highway of Tears. She has picked up many women there saving their lives, a few actively rescuing them from direct harm or dieing of exposure from Starlight Tours. Ares picks up on this and goes to see her at a dive bar she's stopping at and precedes to get drunk under the table by her where after they hook up, that makes Mark
Mark is raised in his moms truck, its one of the ones with beds in the back and his cradle was a rigged hammock. He doesn't get to Camp until he's 14 because being homeschooled on the road helps keep monsters away, his mom doesn't know she banged a god.
Mark has more of the ‘protector of the small’ kind of Ares powers, his strength and skills boost if he's defending someone. The boy is as bi as his mom and was bottle-fed Respect Women Juice for as long as he's been alive. He also has a lose concept of gender norms; like he's very cis but was raised in a way that gender norms don't apply at all so he does as he pleases, he's also build like a wrestler so there is not much people can do about it. He is a little on the kinder softer side of Ares kids, but can more than hold his own with his cabin siblings. This is because he has more of the ‘Protector of Battered Women’ side of his dad’s domain. He’s really good with kids
He's also brown. Idk if he's Native or Indian I haven't desided but he’s definitely not white
