In the last Olympian Percy’s says there were 40 demigods that went fighting into battle of manhattan and later on the ares cabin joined so they weren’t even counted in that 40.

And in the end of the book Percy’s says there were only about “20 odd” demigods that survived and made it back to camp.

Roughly half of the whole entire camp perished in battle of manhattan.

And I’ve done the math and figured out who all the veteran characters are. Most of these are all characters mentioned both before and after the battle of manhattan and some of them were introduced in HoO but said to have been at camp since the titan war. These are the only known true survivors of BoM and it adds up to about 20. This is all of them. None of them are unknown. Do with this what you will

Can you imagine them all going back to camp together in only of those Delphi strawberry busses when they came in four busses. All of them together in a tiny bus grieving their lost siblings together.

Percy Annabeth And Nico went on a wild goose chase after Rachel who had just highjacked Black Jack and that’s how they got back to camp they weren’t on the bus.

Malcolm was all alone and might have believed Annabeth died out there in the streets somewhere or in the Empire State Building. (He’s elated to find her alive at camp later. But god that was a scary couple of hours on the bus thinking he’s all alone now)

Malcolm sits with Butch and Pollux because they’re the only other campers on the bus without siblings. Butch just because he happens to be the only known iris kid at camp and Pollux because he lost Castor in battle of the labyrinth.

All the others sit with their siblings. Or what’s left of them. Entire large cabins that used to have 10-20 kids on average now reduced down to 1-3 kids. Some died. Some joined Luke and probably died soon after.

Edit : And since I’ve seen some Titan army hate in these comments for no reason here’s something else I should have said.

If they joined Luke but somehow survived they were probably wrongfully murdered by the gods for rebelling or brutally punished somehow like Alabaster Torrington. So many titan army kids perished too. Don’t forget them. They fought for a noble cause. They didn’t die for nothing. They were just kids with dreams of making things less shitty for everyone. They suffered just as much if not more than the camp halfblood kids all at the hands of the gods and the titans and even other demigods that were higher up on the Olympus hierarchy. Nico, Ethan, any kid who’s not a child of the big 12 were not treated as equals at camp back then just because of their parentage or lack of powers or unique or scary powers. A lot of titan army kids were from minor gods who suffered because of the big 12 and their children. Camp halfblood wasn’t so nice to them in fact pretty cruel and rude and mean just because of that stupid hierarchy. Of course they felt hurt and fell into Kronos’s trap of trying to make things better. Of course Luke being their counselor at camp cause Hermes takes in all the minor god kids saw all them suffering and tried his best to help. Of course Luke fell into Krnos’s trap as well. and I refuse to tolerate any hate or misunderstanding of them.

headcanon that the demigods sons of Ares act like the most performative males in existence, but they arent performing, its just that his dad is the protector of women so they will cry and complain to the gods over their half-sisters' period cramps and how unfair they are

luke castellan — had to figure out some way to feed the demigods in kronos's army. probably looked at the cost, went "that's stupid, i have a sword", and robbed the store at sword point instead.

ethan nakamura — luke's bread-stealing accomplice.

clarisse la rue — now that she's in college, yes. she's not happy about it, and even less so when someone (sherman) tells her she sounds a lot like percy when she gripes about it.

sherman yang — clarisse keeps him updated and he likes to annoy her about it.

travis stoll — yeah, but price is an illusion to him. anything can be free if he tries hard enough.

connor stoll — only because travis sends him letters from college bragging about how he hasn't been caught yet.

thalia grace — she was a tree.

will solace — has too many responsibilities as head counselor to even consider bread prices.

reyna ramíez-arellano — new rome has a far more stable economy than the rest of america and their bread is unrealistically cheap and/or free depending whether or not it's magically sourced.

bianca di angelo — lotus casino for 70 years then straight into military academy. no time for bread.

silena beauregard — camp half-blood provides food magically.

charles beckendorf — too busy looking at silena.

HALLOWEEN HEADCANONS

Silena organised a group costume between her, Beckendorf, Clarisse, and Chris

Went as Dorothy and spent days bedazzling her ruby slippers

Clarisse agreed to be the Tin Man so she could carry an axe around everywhere

Chris went as the Scarecrow

Only agreed to it so could help Silena keep track of Clarisse

Beckendorf got stuck as the cowardly lion

Everyone who teased him ended up with malfunctioning weapons the next day

Connor dressed up as a spider to scare the life out of Malcolm

Has almost died many times because of this

Apollo and Artemis dress as the other

Zoë refuses to go anywhere near Apollo when he’s pretending to be Artemis

Will not dress up no matter who asks

Frank and Hazel do a Princess and the Frog couples costume

Frank transforms from a frog back into a human whenever Hazel kisses him

Drew is one of those people who just wear a corset & skirt in the colours of the character and call it a costume

Annabeth plans out costumes for at least six months in advance with at least 10 backups in case something goes wrong

Percy has two costumes: one for trick or treating with Sally, Paul, and Estelle, and the other one for a trio costume with Annabeth and Grover

Jason planned out loads of trio costumes with Piper and Leo when they were at CHB together

Calypso genuinely doesn’t understand Halloween no matter how many times Leo tries to explain it

Sherman adds as much fake blood as possible to his costumes

Miranda gets Sherman to use environmentally friendly fake blood

Grover either does a very cheesy couples costume with Juniper or a trio costume with Annabeth and Percy

Chiron, Mr D, and Argus do a trio costume decided on by the campers

Rachel makes her own costumes from scratch and is recruited to do everyone’s face painting

Octavian makes fun of people for dressing up when everyone knows he showed up to the Senate meeting fully dressed as Apollo the year before

All of Malcolm’s have some kind of political messaging/ or dead authors. Has to explain his costume every year
