Your Eyes

Okay I know they’re super cheesy, but I thought of a good story to go with the song so bare with me. I recommend listening to the song while reading.

Your eyes

As we said our goodbyes

Can’t get them out of mind

And I find I can’t hide

He remembers it so clearly. Dust arose and flooded throught the planet’s atmosphere. Everywhere was chaos. Everything was chaos. The Arterian population was fighting desperately for survival as they knew their planet was beyond saving. They called as soon as they realized they were running out of rescue ships, so Voltron was on their way, urgently trying to save millions.

Lance was oddly grim. Usually, he was pumped and ready to save people for missions. But his face was cold as stone. He was stuck in a spiral of endless dread when Pidge’s voice cut through the coms.

“Lance, can you give me any visuals?”

“Huh-I-Oh-um, Planet Arteria is just up ahead. Should be about fifty more ticks.” Lance cleared his throat.

“You okay?” She asked.

“We alone?

“Just us, babe. Just us.”

Lance exhaled cooly.

From your eyes

“Lance! Pidge! I need you to the Southern Fronts and load people into the ships. Allura said we’ve only got about fifteen doboshes before it’s too late!” Keith commanded.

“Already here, Keith!” Pidge replied.

She and Lance quickly descended out of their lions, watching scared yet grateful people cheer for their arrival. No sooner than they arrived, Lance and Pidge were already loading people into the ship. Suddenly, a young Arterian woman’s cries echoed in Lance’s ears.

“Help me! My little boy! He’s stuck in out hut! Help me, please!” Her voice was clogged with tears.

“I’ll go.” Both Pidge and Lance said.

“No, Pidge, I’ll go.”

“Lance, I already have a plan. I’ll go.” Pidge retorted.

“But what if—”

Pidge pressed her lips against his. Lance relished every single second.

“Come back, okay?” Lance pressed their helmeted foreheads together.

“I promise.”

Pidge’s jetpack burst to life and she followed the woman towards her elusive hut.

When I looked into your eyes

“Is that everyone?” Keith asked.

“I think so.” Hunk replied.

“Doing a headcount now.” Allura added.

Lance’s head was in the right place. The people were safe and everyone had come out fine.

“Where is Pidge?” Allura finally asked.

His mind was in darkness now. The color drained quickly from his face when he realized the woman he loved hadn’t come back.

Why does distance make us wise?

Everything was a blur after that.

Lance knelt before a small patch of grass. He didn’t care that raindrops pelted the back of his neck. The rain hid his tears. He couldn’t face it. It was too much. It took him twenty minutes to fully face it.

The tears came in waterfalls. He watered Katie’s grave with his tears. He just stared at it, tracing the engraving with his fingers.

Plance ideas that make me very happy

•Lance flirting with Pidge in Spanish so she doesn’t hear the dirty jokes.

•Pidge thinking his Spanish accent is smooth and buttery.

•Lance calling her Katie when things get serious.

•Pidge enjoys being short enough to just face plant in Lance’s chest and cry.

•Lance testing out cheesy pick up lines in Pidge at first. They don’t work on her so Lance has to dig deeper. He makes a suave and gentlemanly approach with no cheesy pick up lines and he eventually cracks her.

•Shiro getting protective over Pidge because he’s her space dad.

•Matt getting protective over Pidge because he’s her brother.

•HUNK getting protective over Pidge because he’s her bestie.

•Lance having to force Pidge to stop video gaming for the night and sleep.

•Alternatively, Pidge having to force Lance to stop watching anime for the night and sleep.

•Both adoring dank memes. Their wedding song would have been “Never Gonna Give You Up” if Colleen hadn’t stepped in just in time.

•Hunk making their wedding cake.

•Coran actually marrying them.

•Keith is best man and Allura is maid of honor.

•Pidge not being a basic housewife and actually getting a career because why would she want to cook and clean all day? That’s too boring and sexist.

•Lance being okay with it and being like “Look at my wife! She’s a successful scientist! Suck it!”

•Pidge being nervous about being pregnant but doesn’t regret a thing once she sees the baby’s face. She may not be good with people but gosh dang it she’s going to be the best mom ever.

•Lance also being nervous about becoming a father but doesn’t regret a thing once he sees the baby’s face. He isn’t all that responsible but gosh dang it he’s going to be the best dad ever.

•All of their children clearly getting Lance’s genes and growing taller than Pidge early on.

•Lance slowly realizing that it’s not just outer beauty that counts. Yes, Allura is hot as a star and kind but Pidge is beautiful in her own right. Her mind is infinitely curious about the world around her.

I pull you in to feel your heartbeat Can you hear me screaming, "please don't leave me" 

Everything that happened before was more of a blur. 

“Lance!” Pidge had shouted. 

It was the only word in her head. The only word she could say. They could ask her how she was doing, and the only thing she could say in return was his name. She was doing how he was. Of all the times for something like this to happen, it had to be when they thought everything was over. They were back on Earth, dammit. They had saved it. Everything was supposed to be okay. Lance wasn’t supposed to get hurt. No one was supposed to get hurt anymore. 

Pidge’s hands were fists in her pockets. She wasn’t sure what they would punch. It’s not like that could solve anything. The chair in the hospital room was annoyingly familiar at this point. She’d spend as long as she could in here, even when they advised her to focus on something more positive for a while. 

She was there with him when he collapsed on the pavement. They said he caught something out there that his immune system wasn’t prepared to handle. He didn’t show symptoms until they got back to Earth. 

“I’m sorry,” said Lance. This was about the 100th time he had said this. 

Sorry he got sick. Sorry she skipped something to visit him. Sorry she had to see him like this. Sorry he had to stop talking so he could rest. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. 

It only made things worse. 

“It’s okay,” she responded. “ I didn’t have anything going on anyways.” 

Lance stared at the floor for a long moment. Then his eyes began to water, and just like that, they were spilling down his cheeks like a flood. “I don’t want to leave you. I want more time. I want to go on dates with you, real dates, and I want to invite you over for dinner with my family and go see dumb movies and eat too many peanut butter cookies and waste all my money on games we’ll play until we get sick of and— and I want to live longer. Of all the things I”ve been through, this— this can’t be the way that I go. It can’t.” 

Pidge couldn’t stop her own tears now even if she tried. She leaned over and buried her face in his side. The side of his hospital gown became soaked with her tears. 

“Pidge, I’m so—”

“Shut up!” she yelled. She raised her head to look at him, tears still streaming. “Stop saying you’re sorry! Stop feeling guilty about being in a situation you don’t deserve!” Lance had never seen Pidge so angry.  “You don’t deserve any of this! This is stupid! You’re so dumb and nice and sweet and cute and annoying and you’re going to live until you’re 100, damn it! Don’t you dare give up on yourself! I refuse to let you give up on yourself! You fought in a space war with me and came all the way back home and still saved the entire planet! THE UNIVERSE HAS TO OWE YOU SOMETHING FOR THAT. SOMETHING BETTER THAN THIS.” 

Lance tried wiping his cheeks with his hands but they just got wet again. 

“I love you, and you’re going to come home, and you’re going to do all of those things. Because you deserve it after all of this. If I have to make a cure myself I—” 

“I love you, too.” 

Pidge’s fingers dug into the sleeves of Lance’s jacket as it hung loosely over her shoulders. She had the same word on her midn again: “Lance.” 

He emerged from the hallway and wrapped his arms tightly around her. “Let’s go home.”

Plance Angst

Pidge's hazel eyes are on fire.

"I don't know what you think this is Lance! But I am NOT your backup!"

Lance stunned, "Katie I-"

"No! She holds her hand up to stop him. "You don't get to do that. You have been all over the place!" "One minute you seem to like me back and the next minute you are staring out the window at Allura like a lost puppy!"

She turns to storm off, but Lance catches her arm.

"Katie, please it's not what you think!" He pleaded.

Day 3 Pidgeshipweek: Sacrifice

Each day he sat there… watching her. As her last words continued to haunt his very core. 

“It’s too late Pidge… the virus it’s going to spread…”

“No… I won’t let it end this way. I’m going to route myself into the system and stop this.”

Her fingers raced against the control panel as a green light started to surrounded her. 

“Stop! Katie… if you enter the system you won’t know the difference between our world and that reality. You won’t be able to come back you–”

Her hand softly touched his face as her lips gently pressed against his. 

“I love you Lance… I’m sorry…” she whispered softy.

Her eyes closed slowly, as the green light engulfed her and her body fell limp. Tears ran down his face, as he held her in his arms.

“I promise… I’ll find you… I’ll bring you back…”

Okay hope you don’t mind as I write and draw out my angst Plance feels. I had this script sitting in my head for like a month and I was going to use it for another fan project I have in mind, but after seeing all the amazing art on the pidgeshipweek 2017 I felt I needed to give it my all.
