Germany is banning single-use plastic straws, cotton buds and food containers

The Cabinet agreed Wednesday to end the sale of plastics including single-use cutlery, plates, stirring sticks and balloon holders, as well as polystyrene cups and boxes by July 3, 2021.

I decided to stick some single use plastics to Ellen’s face. I wanted to show the impact that our actions have on our environment. I believe that if we had to carry around every single use plastic item with us in our daily life we would never use them again. Single use plastics such as straws, coffee cups, plastic drinking cups and of course water bottles. Each of these are destroying our environment and I feel that people do not take bigger actions to prevent this as they feel that it is not an issue that should concern them as individuals. I wanted to show the physical harm that one plastic straw has, and how they will never biodegrade. I believe that this is relevant to my project of visual noise/pollution as it binds both together. We are polluting ourselves.

Straws make pretty decent pencil and dip pen caps... I don't have the habit of using straws but sometimes ended up receiving one. Instead of throwing it away and being angry, why not make something useful out of it #plasticstraws

Scotland plans to ban plastic straws by end of 2019

Scotland is set to become the first UK nation to ban plastic straws, as part of plans to cut down on single-use plastics. The move follows the announcement that the Scottish Government is outlawing the sale and manufacture of plastic cotton buds, one of the most prevalent waste items found on beaches.
