Slow down
Summary: just Loki and thor being two panicking idiots over their sibling
Loki should’ve never agreed to this, it was both dangerous and a risk to take you with them but you had begged and begged till thor felt bad and convinced Loki to take you for a couple of days.
It was all fine and dainty until you got put in a smart wheelchair, they had wheelchairs in Asgard but they were heavy and not for smooth movement by the rider.
"I’m so fast!" You yelled.
"THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT!" Loki cussed his brother who was running after you as you speed on the chair around the building.
It took ten minutes to get ahold of you, by the end you were so pumped that thor felt slightly bad for for stopping your fun.
Everything about Midgard fascinated you, you weren’t just a sick person, people gave a damn about functioning adults with sickness such as yours.
"Why is that man getting lead around by a dog?" You asked staring at a stranger going on about his day.
Loki glanced to the man wearing shades and using a cane "He’s blind and that animal is his service dog"
You blinked confused "What does that mean? Like the dog helps him go places?"
"Yes and a bit more"
"Can I get one too?"
Thor excited by the suggestion recommended getting a horse which was shut down immediately by Loki because you’re not walking around everywhere with a stallion following you.
"Aww come on, please!"
Loki pinched the bridge of his nose and sighed "Perhaps something smaller…and clean"
"Yay! Can we go on the elevator again! I want to press the button to the highest floor"
They surely had their hands full.
You wanted to try everything…EVERYTHING.
"I want to try that food from the moving cart" You pointed at a hotdog stand.
"Absolutely not, you don’t know what they have in these you could get sick!"
"I’m not gonna get sick-" You sneezed and the fun ended just there.
Although you didn’t get your hotdog your brothers humored you enough to take you to a local joint and let you order whatever you’ll like… no matter how greasy it looked.
"I love it here! Can you bring me here again? Please!"
Thor chuckled and Loki shook his head.
"If…you don’t end up getting sick from that disease disguised as a burger"
Loki held her in the highest regards and trusts her judgement more than anything, but maybe not about this

Loki was the clever one, the smart one who had a silver tongue so smooth he could talk himself out of the most dire of circumstances. Thor was the strong one, a head made of rocks and a body of steel with a determination that never faltered. They were two sides of the same coin, consumed by the arrogance of their own greatness, and perhaps for that reason led to this day.
It was quite a normal day for the dark prince. He dined and then ventured to the heart of the palace where the most precious and powerful books were kept, as well as someone who knew how to use them. Most of Asgard regarded her as the Keeper but the most elite of Asgard’s elite knew her as Loki’s.
She was a powerful magic user with strength enough to rival even the strongest of the Valkyries but she was also kind. She became the prince’s best friend when they were both mere children, acting as his confidant and a pillar when he and Thor began to grow apart. While there were many who speculated as to whether they were secretly together but it seemed though all their interactions were platonic enough.
The dark corridor was quiet as Loki walked along. He hummed to himself, content with the peacefulness that always settled over him as he made this journey. Yet a sudden moan broke through the silence, stopping him in his tracks. It was only then, when the sound of his own footsteps ceased, that Loki could hear the wet slaps and the chorus of groans and whines that indicated that she was, in fact, not alone.
He scoffed and turned to leave, she could have at least sent word to him if she was expecting company. But a loud moan of ‘Thor’ made him freeze. Loki’s eyes narrowed, he wouldn’t dare. The deep rumble of Thor’s voice confirmed his suspicions a moment later.
The door to her private chambers slammed open, revealing the now frozen couple to Loki’s furious gaze. His best friend in the entire universe, the one person he could wholly trust, sat atop his older brother, who he had complained about more times than he could count, both of them completely naked and covered in sweat.
“Really?” At least she had the decency to look even the slightest bit ashamed while Thor smiled broadly, sitting up so he could hide her chest against his own. “Him? You could do so much better.”
“Brother! Do not fret, I read your little friend like the queen she is!” But Loki did not look at him, instead his green eyes remained locked on her.
“How long?” She swung her plump legs off of her lover so she could fully sit on the mattress, taking only some of her sheets to cover herself and the rest left on Thor.
“Almost a year.” Loki’s brow raised as the feeling of betrayal washed over him. “We didn’t mean to keep it a secret! It’s just, one day Thor came to ask me for advice and one thing led to another. It was convenient for both of us, we trusted each other and we grew up beside one another so we kept seeing each other. But-“ She looked back at the blond god with a smile that Loki had never seen her wear before. Thor took the hand closest to him, placing a loving kiss on the back of her knuckles.
“But we fell in love.” The pinch in Loki’s dark brows faded as he watched the pair. Thor’s leg was pressed against her back, her free hand sitting on his calf, the fingers of their joined hands intertwining, it was obvious now. They could not bear to be apart from each other, even when being confronted.
Loki huffed a small laugh through his nose, drawing her attention back to him. “I should have known. You have been happier as of late. But I am quite surprised that the oaf kept it from me for so long.” Thor growled playfully as you bit back your giggles.
“Well brother it seems that I am the sneaky one now and my dove here will attest that I have quite the silver tongue.” He yelped as she smacked him on the shoulder, knocking him flat onto the bed. Yet his smile never faltered, in fact it only got wider. She was precious to Loki, she was an untouchable treasure that he wished to hide from the world in some vain attempt to save her from its horrors but he could never think clearly when it came to her.
But apparently, Thor was the level-headed one here. He curled his large body around her softer one, not trapping her but instead giving her a comforting touch as she looked up at her best friend. “Yet you kept it from me for so long. Do you not trust me?”
Thor was the one who answered. “We both wished to tell you but she was worried that it would shatter your trust in her and that it would destroy any positive relationship you and I had. I also wished to keep our love private so it could blossom without Odin breathing down my neck. I do intend to marry her, brother, but I wished for her to choose when without any pressures from others who have no business telling us what to do.” She nuzzled into his touch with a shy smile, her eyes burning bright with love.
Loki sagged into the armchair across from the bed, his head falling between his shoulders. “By the gods I am an idiot.” There was a rustle of fabric and then, out of the corner of his eye, she appeared, wrapped in her sheets, placing a hand on his shoulder.
“You saw what you wished to see, simple as that.” He chuckled and looked up at her.
“I certainly did not want to see that.” But she just looked back at Thor who was now propped up against her headboard, one of her many quilts covering his body, his gaze already fixed on her.
“Then maybe knock next time.”
The princes were two opposite, unstoppable forces, both complementing each other in the best and worst ways but she was the unmovable object that slowed their rage and tempered their hate. Yet maybe, Loki thought, he needed to improve her tastes.

DO NOT REPOST FOR ANY REASON, REBLOGS ARE WELCOMED AND MUCH APPRECIATED.
It was almost impossible to tell what exactly was drawing you closer to sleep. It had been three days in the prison cell and winter was drawing closer. You were freezing cold, exhausted, and thirsty beyond belief. In the time spent here since your unfortunate kidnapping only five people had come to use your “gift”. They never spoke, never introduced themselves or said thank you once they’d been healed, they simply came and went. Once a day, a woman would bring you food, usually some sort of broth and a torn chunk of buttered bread. The woman never spoke just like all the warriors who would visit, she kept her eyes trained on the length of your hair or on your cuffed hands. With your wrists chained to your waist you couldn’t feed yourself alone, in the first two days the woman hadn’t noticed or maybe hadn’t cared but recently she had taken to helping you eat. It was a little embarrassing to be fed by someone else, even mother hadn’t helped you eat like this at least not since you were a baby. Despite the embarrassment you were far too weak to refuse the help, the food helped a lot but without sleep it was practically useless and you refused to fall asleep here. If you were asleep you were vulnerable and you wouldn’t be any wiser if some warrior came by while you were out. So you stayed vigilant, never closing your eyes for more than a few moments, always waiting even though you weren’t exactly sure what for.
The woman who comes to visit and bring food was a sharp contrast from the warriors you usually met. The warriors were always dirty, caked in blood and dirt, their clothing always dark and made of thick fabrics or plated with metal. They always wore their sheaths but their weapons were always missing, likely to keep you from trying to take them. The woman however was clean. She was never coated in blood or dirt and her nails were well kept, lacking the dirt many of the men had beneath them. She was pale, long copper red hair pinned out of her face by beautiful maroon pins designed to look like intricate twigs or horns. Her clothing was very practical, warm and protective, dark maroon colored leather over a black, wool-lined tunic and trousers donning protective leather guards in the same maroon shade and leather wrist gauntlets looped around her middle fingers protecting the back of her hand. She was one of few people you’d seen wearing red, you could only gather that the color signified a higher status but you couldn’t begin to understand why someone of a higher status would be coming to feed you. In the beginning the woman almost seemed afraid, utilizing the wider slot in the cell door to slide the tray of food through and taking a few steps away to monitor you. She still hadn’t opened the door and came into the cell like most of the men did, she managed to feed you through the bars even though it was quite a reach and very inconvenient.
Today was different, when she came by the tray seemed to be fuller though you couldn’t tell what else was on it from your place on the floor. The woman pressed her palm to the locking mechanism of the cell door, it emitted a red energy similar to that of the man who relinquished your freedom and the lock clicked, the door opening with ease. She grabbed a chair that had been hidden to the side of the cell and brought it in with one hand, the other balancing the tray of goods. She set the chair across from you and took a seat, playing the tray in her lap. While the tray contained the regular cup of broth and bread, it also had a small bowl of steaming vegetable stew and a goblet that you pray is full of water. She started with the stew, carefully spooning it to your mouth in silence. It was far more delicious than you had expected and the warmth it brought was more than welcome. After feeding you a chunk of bread she carefully lifted the goblet to your lips. For a moment you were cautious, you’d never had alcohol but you know it causes dehydration and at this point wine might figuratively kill you. The moment the liquid hit your tongue you could tell it was water, your hands jerking up to try and hold the goblet tugging on the shackles in the process, you tipped your head further gulping the water down hastily. You almost didn’t notice when the woman laughed, more like giggled at your haste. You pulled away from the nearly empty goblet and looked up to the goblet.
“What’s so funny?” You whispered, voice gruff from days without speaking.
“You are very eager. It’s a nice change.” Her accent was thick but her voice was gentle all the same.
“I haven’t had water in some time…” you looked down to the cuffs encasing your wrists. Her eyebrows furrowed but she remained silent, continuing to feed you.
When you finished the food, feeling more full than ever before if that was even possible, the woman didn’t stand to leave.
“What’s your name?” You asked. And she almost hesitated.
“Wanda. And you’re Y/N.” She replied.
“Are you the same as that man? Loki?”
“Our magic comes from different places. He and I are not the same. He is much older. I am sorry for what he did to you. I assure you he is just as much a prisoner as you are.” She stood from the chair. You scoffed.
“You’re never a prisoner when you do others bidding so willingly. He isn’t powerless. He did this to me because he wanted to.” You were almost angry.
“I cannot make you understand.” Wanda shook her head and used her power to open the door, removing the chair with her.
“Wanda-.” You stopped yourself. It was a stupid question but she turned to your regardless.
“You can let me go, you have power too, you can undo this and set me free!”
“I- I am sorry but I can’t. There are things here that you do not understand.”
“Then help me! Help me to understand please. Please Wanda.” You were begging, groveling at her feet regardless of the fact that you didn’t have a choice.
“I cannot speak of such things in company, I’m sorry. I’m so sorry.” She left quickly, struggling to remove the tremor from her voice.
The room was silent and cold again. The smell of burnt lantern fuel lingering in the air the way it always had. The silence was almost healing to your aching heart, this is the way it must be and you’d have to grow accustomed. Laying down as much as possible, partially in a bed of your own hair, you allowed yourself to fall asleep. It consumed you, your body more than exhausted from just trying to defend itself from the incoming trauma. The sleep was dreamless but fulfilling, you would have slept for the rest of the week if the slamming of the cell door hadn’t woken you.
Your eyes snapped open, bleary from sleep, you struggled to focus on the man entering the room until he was close to your face. John Walker. His face was bloodied and his eye was swollen shut, he stumbled, falling down next to you only to turn his head and spit blood onto the cell floor a foot away. While you had been taught not to take pride in others’ pain, you couldn’t help but be glad he was hurt so severely, it meant he was only here to heal. Without a word he snaked his hand to the back of your neck, scooping your hair closer to him roughly from its base. There were several braids still tied into your locks from previous warriors and each time one got in his way John gripped it roughly, nearly ripping it from your head as he threw it away from him. You struggled to stay silent, refusing to give him the satisfaction. He roughly began to braid a chunk of the hair, albeit very badly but the magic didn’t discriminate, the green energy wrapped around his injured face and body as he worked. John gasped when he finished and the green energy disappeared with a small gust of wind, leaving him freshly healed under the remains of the blood.
You breathed out a sigh of relief when he stood, expecting him to leave the room, instead he kneeled back down into your space and grabbed your jaw, smashing your cheeks with his fingers as he squeezed.
“If you ever - and I mean fucking ever - heal Laufeyson I swear I will kill you.” He was furious.
“I don’t get to choose” you barely mumbled out.
“Well you better fucking figure out how to hold it in princess because if I ever fucking hear even the slightest whisp of a thought that maybe he came to visit? I’ll treat you like the meat your really are, slice you open and use you up like god intended.” He threw your face away from him and stormed out of the cell, locking it quickly.
You were speechless, unsure if the feeling on your jaw was from the heat of his palm or the developing bruises. There was no way of knowing what happened, how John became so injured or why you’d die for saving a specific person. It’s impossible to prevent someone from using your hair to heal themselves, especially given the spell Loki had placed on you, the only way out would be cutting it all off but there wasn’t a sharp object in sight and no one ever entered wearing their weapons. Once or twice you heard the men argue over relinquishing their sabers and daggers to the guards at the door of the prison complex, they always gave in and you never heard anything more.
From what you could tell, you were the only prisoner they had. This wasn’t completely surprising, though you’d never understand the point of having an entire prison building to only house one person, you always just assumed they killed those that cross them instead of going through a judicial system. It was difficult to admit that the isolation of being alone in a cell and used without control wasn’t what broke you the most, it was the lack of people. The isolation of knowing there wasn’t a si glow other person in the building in a somewhat similar position to you. There would never be someone on the other side of the wall, hoping for an escape or a quick death in the same way you sometimes find yourself hoping. This was it. You barely had a side in this, standing completely alone with this curse as the Vikings rejoice in ravaging your mind and arguably your body. Letting out a breath you carefully lay back down, concentrating on your fingertips that look so much different than they had just a few days ago, dirty and broken in some aspects. Exhaling you tried to force yourself to accept the facts and to find a middle ground, hardly a solution but some twisted fantasy you could hide in for safety. Moments later something cold graced your hand, thinking it’s part of the chains you don’t look until it happens again.
A small lizard carefully nudged at your thumb and for the first time, you smiled. It was a tiny little thing, it’s head far too big for its scaly body. It was so pretty, with shiny dark green and blue scales. You turned your hand over, opening your palm as an offering to the little guy. The lizard climbed on without hesitation, settling down to use the heel of your palm as a pillow.
“Gotta keep warm huh little guy?”
The lizard curled its tail into itself, relishing in the warmth your hand provided in the cold winter. Moments later the lanterns in the hall outside the cell doors were burnt out, the same way they are every night, leaving the room to be lit by the small window near the ceiling that led outside. The same window the lizard probably entered from. The extinguishing of the lanterns seemed to be some sort of cue for the lizard, who quickly left your palm and ran towards the door. You expected it to leave, to scuttle through the bars and live the rest of his life warm on a rock in the woods with a little baby lizard family, but he didn’t, he stopped at the gate and seemed to poke his head out to look around.
It was strange behavior for a lizard, something not totally unheard of but slightly uncanny and you couldn’t help but watch. Once the lizard had deemed the hall safe, he ran over to a clearing before you. You offered your hand to him again but quickly pulled it away as the lizard began to glow a brilliant green. The green glow spread to encompass him, turning to a sharp energy. Just as quickly as the lizard had come into your life, he disappeared in a mirage, turning into a rather large dark haired man who quickly clamped his hand over your mouth as you gasped.
“sh, sh, sh, it’s okay I am not here to harm you.” He moved into the light as he spoke in a hushed whisper.
It took a moment for your memory to catch up with you as you stared into his blue eyes. He removed his hand from your mouth slowly.
“Loki?!” You tried to scoot away from him, limited by your chains as you struggled.
“Calm down it’s okay, it’s okay” he held his hands up to show he wasn’t a threat.
Despite his harmless façade, you knew better than to trust him, settling to keep a close eye on him from afar. Loki slowly lowered his hands to the clasp of his cloak, slipping the metal apart to remove the thick material. Lifting it for you to see both sides, he turned it in his grasp, shuffling closer on his knees to settle the cloak around your shoulders. You held eye contact as he fastened the clasp, he wasn’t trustworthy by any means but the warmth of the cloak was far too enticing to not be a little grateful.
”I never wanted this to happen to you, I had no idea they would leave you in such conditions.” He cupped your cheeks, despite your agitation, closing his eyes and muttering as he healed your wounds and bruises.
He sat back with crossed legs, resting his wrists on his knees as he looked you over for any other injuries Walker may have caused.
“If I had predicted he would take his aggression out on you… I can’t apologize enough I am deeply sorry. I do believe he has learned some type of lesson.” Loki vaguely confirmed the origin of Walkers injuries and threats, attempting to make conversation.
”You hexed me.” You whispered.
”I had as much of a choice as you did in the matter” he shook his head.
You scoffed, bringing his attention to you as opposed to the stone he’d been concentrating on. Loki’s eyes looked incredibly distant, almost distraught as they dulled, face paling even further is at all possible with his ghost-like complexion. He couldn’t form the right words, unable to explain.
”I didn’t have a choice.” he whispered, turning his gaze to his left arm.
Loki pulled the laces of his forearm gauntlet, untethering them to remove it and lift his sleeve. He stretched out his fingers and exhaled, exposing his inner forearm to your gaze. The skin at the crease of his elbow appeared to be volcanic rock, pulsing as it feathered out to blend with his tone. Archaic Futhark runes seemingly carved into the stone overlapped into the flesh, glowing a brilliant blue as it pulsed along with the spreading veins.
”I didn’t have a choice.” He emphasized.
”You’re a prisoner too? They praise you as if you’re a God”
“Not in many years. These runes-“ he ran his fingers across the carvings. “They hold me captive, similar to your chains, inhibiting my magic. I am but a puppet. There are moments when the abrir of the runes weaken, allowing me to perform petty tricks for a short amount of time.”
“That’s how you changed forms? Became a lizard?” You questioned, becoming more comfortable as he shared.
“Yes. But I cannot hold it for long, although weakened, the spell has a form of security that is always enabled. When I perform magic or divulge information that is not in favor of the puppeteer, this stone spreads, burning through my veins. It may encapsulate my entire being with time.”
”You’ll become a statue.”
”Indeed.” He nods, pulling his sleeve back down but neglecting to replace the guard.
“Why? Why choose you and not someone like Wanda? Or any of the other sorcerers in the city?”
”I’m afraid my story is far too complicated to answer such a simple question. I am not a sorcerer, they didn’t need one. They wouldn't be able to help.” he paused.
”I cannot free you, I’m sorry. But I can ease your strife in these conditions. With time you may earn better accommodations, some leniency with the council.”
The heavy creak of the prison’s doors sounded, torchlight flashing against the walls in the distance as footsteps approach, accompanied by muffled voices.
”Leniency? Loki, they will drain me dry here, I cannot survive with leniency!” You whispered harshly.
”You have to.” he whispered back, reverting to his reptilian form and taking his leave as the men in the hall neared the cell door.
Leaving you with a thousand questions and a dark shadow to settle within.
Pairing: Loki x teen!reader (platonic)
Summary: Peter brings you to the Tower for a tour to take your mind off your parents’ divorce. When you meet Loki, he helps you come to grips with your feelings over the situation.
Warnings: divorce; not proofread
A/N: Requested by my name twin @laurenandloki. Hope you enjoy!
(strikethrough means I can’t tag you; message/ask me to be added to a tag list)
Peter was a really good friend, you thought as you arrived in Grand Central Station. You didn’t really have very many of those, and the young hero was the only one you trusted with your recent, upsetting news. He’d even let you crash at his place that first night when your parents had told you, and you couldn’t bear being at home. And then again when your dad collected his things and took them to his new apartment. It almost felt like if you weren’t there for all of it, it wouldn’t happen. Unfortunately, that wasn’t true and when you had to go back to your home, it was noticeably emptier.
You were really going to miss him when the two of you graduated later that year, but at least you would be away from your worries then.
Even though the whole point of this trip was to not think about it, it seemed there was no avoiding the tumultuous thoughts. Your parents were getting a divorce, and there was nothing you could do about it.
Being the angel that he was, Peter had invited you to the Avengers Tower for the afternoon. He’d promised you a tour and everything. You’d been a bit nervous to accept; didn’t the Avengers have much better things to do than entertain a disgruntled teen? But, Peter had assured you they were all fine with it. Glad, even. Any friend of Peter’s was a friend of theirs, he’d quoted back to you.
So, set up with a visitor pass and falsely bright smile, you entered the Avenger’s HQ. It was big, much bigger than you’d even expected. So big you were stunned to the point you couldn’t even think of another word to describe it. Peter chuckled at your gaping, playful nudging you as you stepped into the elevator with him.
“You like?” he asked pressing one of the many buttons.
“Peter this is... It’s... Holy shit it’s awesome! I can’t believe you get to come here all the time.”
Both of you were laughing now. To most of the world, Peter wasn’t anybody special. Anyone who had taken note of him were told he was just Stark’s genius intern. However, as one of his closest friends, you knew his best kept secret; Peter was Spiderman. You were more than a bit surprised to hear that at first, but you couldn’t be more proud of him. Considering his good nature and kind heart, you supposed it made sense.
Unfortunately, the fact that he was a hero meant he had to train, which in turn meant he was quickly whisked away from you once you reached the heroes’ floor.
“Shoot, I’m sorry,” he apologized, facepalming. “We were supposed to have more time, but with the trains running late and all-”
“Peter! Don’t worry. Either way, this was really sweet. And the change of scenery is good.” You looked around at the room quick, then gestures to the sitting area. “I’ll just sit over there and get a start on my homework.”
“Ok, if you’re sure...” Your friend still seemed hesitant until something, or rather, someone caught his eye. “Oh! Mr. Loki! Over here.”
The god indeed come over, and you immediately became flustered to be in the presence of an Avenger. Well, an Avenger you didn’t have science class with. You knew most people favored the burly, blonde God of Thunder, but you felt like they were all overlooking Loki. In your opinion, the magic you’d seen him doing in footage of battles was worlds cooler than whatever storm powers Thor had. Not to mention his overall air; he moves like a shadow. There was something about the younger god that resonated with you more. And now, it seemed you’d gotten your chance to meet him.
You chuckled a little at the nickname he had for Peter, elbowing your friend in the ribs. He snorted and playfully shoved you back.
“Yeah, it’s fine. It’s just that I have to go train, but I have my friend with me today. Do you think you could keep them company until I get back?”
“Ah, well, my schedule is clear,” he agreed. “Go, spiderling. Your friend will be safe in my care.”
With a thank you to Loki, a promise to be back soon too you, and a wave at both, Peter was off in the direction of the gym. Left with the God of Mischief, you sniffled a bit awkwardly.
“Greetings, little mortal. I am Loki of Asgard, and it is quite lovely to meet you.”
He extended his hand, and shaking it, you introduced yourself. “I-it’s an honor to meet you.”
“Oh, you flatter me,” he blushed. You could imagine that with most people paying attention to Thor, Loki wasn’t quite used to the attention. Plus some people never did get over the Battle of New York despite the Avengers clearing his record. He seemed almost as awkward as you. “Ehehe can I offer you something? Perhaps some tea or coffee? And Stark always keeps the kitchen well stocked if you are hungry.”
You squeaked a bit at how casually he mentioned the billionaire. Somehow, this all seemed so much more real coming from a superhero you didn’t see on a daily basis. “Must some water is fine, thanks.”
“Coming right up!”
While he was off towards what you presumed was the kitchen, you took a seat over on the couches. Setting your bag on the ground, the soft cushions beneath you did little to soothe your nerves. As your leg bounced with anxious energy, you reached to pull out a your math workbook and a pencil. Your hand was shaking so bad that you fumbled with the backpack’s zipper. Suddenly, wet drops were falling onto your pants. You desperately tried to wipe away the onslaught of tears, but found no success.
Left all by yourself in an empty-feeling Tower, your thoughts had gotten the better of you. Your parents were really going through with it. There was nothing you could do to convince them not to get a divorce. Of course you wanted them to be happy, but couldn’t they be happy together, as a family?
“Oh, little mortal! Are you alright? What is the matter?” You hadn’t heard him come over, but Loki was on the floor next to you. “I am sure I could get Peter out of training for the day, if you would like.”
You shook your head no. “T-that’s not it. I’m sorry. I’m fine.”
“Take it from me, hiding your emotions does no good.” He took a seat on the couch next to you. Embarrassed, you held in your tears, even as he sets a comforting hand on your shoulder. “Would you like me to go get the spiderling? Truly, it is no trouble. Or perhaps you would rather go home? Or even to call your parents?”
At that you began to sob anew. Carefully, Loki wrapped you in a hug, letting you cry on his shoulder. He encouraged you to let it all out, so you did. It felt good. Once you’d calmed, you mumbled another apology, but he just said there was no need, offering you a tissue.
“Little mortal, you are clearly in distress,” he gently began, rubbing your back as you hiccuped. It was brotherly and made you feel safe. “It seems to perhaps have something to do with your parents. Is... Is everything alright at home?”
“N-no. They’re getting a divorce.” Some more tears leaked from your eyes. Loki nodded, letting you talk. “They haven’t gotten along in a while, but I didn’t think... I wish I’d been a better kid. Maybe if I were less bothersome, they’d be fine.”
“Now, little mortal, I must assure you it is not your fault. Not at all.”
“No?”
“No. You are not responsible for your parents’ actions. Even something like this, you could not make them get along! Sometimes people just do not. But it is not your fault they couldn’t.”
You mulled over his words. You had been trying to be better for them, but it clearly didn’t work. You thought you just hadn’t been good enough, but maybe Loki was right. You weren’t entirely sure, but it was, if nothing else, a comforting thought.
“How can you be so sure.”
“See, you and I are quite similar, actually. My parents did a lot of, ah, questionable things,” he shared. “And for a long time, I thought it was my fault. That if I was better, they would have acted differently... loved me more. But in the end, it mattered not what I did. They were set in their ways. So I beg you, little mortal, do not carry that weight. It is not your fault.”
You sniffled a bit. “I can try, but no promises.”
He handed you another tissue. “That is all I ask.”
“Thank you, Loki.”
“I am more than happy to help. In fact, I am here anytime you should need me.” You smiled at that, giving another thanks. “You are welcome. Now, please do not keep your emotions in any more either, yes?”
“Yes. You’re right; it feels better to let them out.”
Loki’s gentle smile became even brighter. “Ah, spiderling! You have returned.”
“Yup,” Peter replied, jumping over the back of the couch and landing on your other side. “And I- Hey, you good?” he asked, taking in your appearance.
“No.” You smiled again, looking at both your friends. “But I’m going to be.”
Together, you set off on your tour of the Tower, feeling much lighter than you had in ages. Because you really did believe what you’d said. With friends like these, you were going to be just fine.
Second - I was wondering if you could do one where Loki witnesses reader having a huge argument with their father qnd brother and y/n reminds him of himself and later finds y/n sitting in a park alone, crying and he can't help but comfort them. they build a friendship (preferably a platonic relationship between loki n reader, reader age range 19-21, Y/n kinda sees Loki as their big brother if that's okay for you. you could do romantic connection between those two if you're more comfortable with that.) and loki went with the avengers on a huge mission and they come back without loki. y/n overhear a Convo saying loki's dead and they are upset about it. one year later, Loki knocks on y/ns door and a lot of fluff happenssss. <3 I've been feeling very lost recently and literally need that kind of fluff fic. 😥
Hi dear, first of all I hope you feel better soon my dear and I hope this helps. I'm not used to writing gender neutral character but I tried to be as careful as I could so apologies if I made a mistake, feel free to correct me. Also I made the relationship between loki and y/n purely platonic so I hope that's okay. I just can't imagine him as brother even if I'm writing from others perspective 🥲
Loki X GN!Reader - You're my best friend
"When will you learn y/n? For god's sake you are in your early 20s now officially" Tony yelled at you, ever since he adopted Peter after may died, Peter became the child your dad always wanted, he was smart, a genius like him, a superhero. Everything you were not, everything you'd never become "I'm sorry dad I was just trying to help" you said meakly and ran out his room, you were helping Peter with his project when you accidentally knocked over the prototype he made for his college project, and Tony was furious, you ruined his favourite son's hardwork.
You had to leave the tower and run somewhere, no matter what you did, you just never felt enough for him and it has started to take a huge toll on your mental health. You felt incompetent during such times, your dad always picked Peter over you. You ran towards the nearest park and sat down on the chair, then you cried your heart out.
"Hey kiddo, can I sit?" You wiped your tears and as you looked up you saw loki, you'd sometimes bump into him in the tower but since you were not an avenger you didn't really got to see him much
"Suit yourself, I do not own this bench" you crossed your arms and he smiled at you. He saw Stark yelling at you and he felt as if he was taken down into the memory lane, same situation, he have been through it, feeling like you're not enough is the worst feeling in the world, Odin always picked thor over him and he hated it, even when he tried to do everything according to his father, thor would still get praised while he got scolded. Later he found out that he was adopted and it made sense but your situation was the opposite of it.
"I know how it feels y/n" he scooted closer to you and he wrapped his arms around your shoulder to comfort you, as soon as you felt the calming touch you sobbed even harder "It's alright, let it out, cry as much as you want, I won't stop you" he caressed your head and you cried for good five minutes, he didn't say anything at all while you sobbed, just held you affectionately.
"Feels lighter?" He asked you and you looked at him "A Little" you mumbled and you placed your head down on his shoulder. Who would have thought that out of all the people loki would be the one comforting you? You didn't, he was so misunderstood and he didn't speak much to anyone and nobody ever cared for that either.
"Will I ever be enough Loki? Will he ever be proud of me?" You asked him and he shook his head in no "For him ? No y/n you would never be enough for him, he would always find something to complain about, he would find excuses to berate you but just because he's your father that does mean he's right all the time, You are talented and, sweet and one of the most kindest midgardian I have ever met, do not misplace your worth in his words, never ever put your worth in their opinions sweet y/n, opinions are just that, words, they are not facts"
He smiled at you as he finished his little speech, his mother said that to him once and it helped him, now he wanted to help you the same way "Wise words from a wise man" you chuckled between your tears and he put his head down on yours "Thank you loki, I just wish sometimes he would see me you know? That he would notice me"
"I know and it never goes away, the feeling stays but with time, you'd grow and realise that you were not brought into existence to please other people, not even your parents, if they're not happy with who you are, just learn to ignore everything they say and you'll see that their words are so meaningless as soon as you stop caring about them"
After that day, your bond with loki only got stronger, he became your best friend, everytime you had a problem, doesn't matter what kind of problem, he would be there for you, You liked someone but felt nervous to tell them? He would help you figure a way out, you wanted to go watch a movie but had no one? he would be your partner, some random person annoyed you? He would gladly opt to murder them, though you didn't allow him. Soon he became your closest friend, you shared everything with him and he did the same.
He also had a conversation with stark and made him see how much of a bad father he was to you, your relationship with him also started to get better because of him. Loki sworn to always be there for you but it changed one day, it changed when he didn't return from a mission, everyone got back except him.
"See you in few hours y/n, I'm excited to watch that movie about that wizard kid with you" he told you before he left, he smiled so widely, he seemed calm and happy, but he didn't come back to you, you lost your best friend and he was gone just like that, you'd never get to spend time with him or hear his voice encouraging you or watch him gigglinng as he'd watch tom and jerry re-runs "This cat is such a dumbnut, reminds me of thor" you smiled as you reminisced about the time you spent with him but then you broke down soon after, you lost your best friend. You'd never get to see him again, Why him? Why did he leave you?
A year passed but you never did forget him, how could you? he was your best friend, you can never stop grieving your best friend. Exactly one year ago you lost him, you missed him all the time but this day only made it extra awful, you still had pictures of you two hanging in your room, you'd watch his videos that you sneakily took on your phone and for a moment it would feel as if he was out there somewhere still looking out for you, still alive.
You wiped your tears as you heard a knock on the door so you got off the bed and opened the door "Hey y/n" you slammed the door shut as you saw him, did you really see him ? Or your mind was playing tricks on you? Are you going crazy ? "Y/n I know you're upset with me ...for dying and disappearing..but if you'd listen to me...I c-" he stopped talking as you opened the door and hugged him tightly, he looked the same as you remembered him. You can't believe this, he died right? "You died loki you died on me ..how could you do that?" He teared up himself as he heard you sobbing while you smacked on his chest with your fists
"I'm sorry I really am, I never wanted to trust me" he chuckled and you pulled him in for a hug again "Oh god I thought I lost you forever, don't ever die on me again loki, I have missed you so much" you mumbled as you held him tightly, it was nice to feel him around you again. You have missed him every minute since that unfortunate day.
"I'm here now, I won't go again I promise, I missed you too y/n, more than anyone else" he caressed your head and you looked at him "What happened to you loki, oh my I'm so stupid, tell me everything, I'm here for you " you grabbed his hand and you made him sit down on the couch, he was in his Asgardian attire "I wasn't dead y/n, I was lost in some other dimension, strange fucked up the mission, it took him a year to get me out of there, I know it's been a year since that day but it only felt like a month to me, but I did miss you immensely in those days"
"I'm going to kill Strange" you groaned and he pet your head "Easy easy, I guess they were afraid to tell you the truth so they lied, in case I would never return, they thought you'd make peace with it" he said to you and you nod in no "You're my best friend loki, I would never forget you, Please don't leave again" you sobbed again but he hugged you tightly "You're my best friend too y/n and I promise I would never go on a mission with strange" you chuckled as you heard him. Once you calmed down and realised that he was there for real and it wasn't just some dream or you were not losing your mind, you told him everything that has happened to you in last year. Everything he missed out on.
"I have someone now" you blushed as you told him and he smiled "they are nice? Better stay on their best behaviour because you know I won't hesitate to kill" he tried to sound intimidating but he just seemed adorable.
"We will see about that, it's good for now lokes" you put your head down on his shoulder and he held your hand in his
"I promised you something right, let's watch that wizard movie" he said to you and you jumped off the couch to put the first part on.
Your best friend was back in your life and you couldn't have been happier.
Thor one day thinking about how he is immortal and you are not and he loses his mind over it and starts crying. so he figures out a way to make you immortal too because ge can not live without the live of his life 🥺☺️
Sprinkled in a bit of mythology there.
Thor fluff | Idunn's Apples
• Thor is immortal, compared to you. He will go on to live about five or six thousand years; you will get old and weak in little more than seventy years. It's a bittersweet thing, because even during your short lifespan, you will get to see your lover accomplish great, incredible things. And you have no doubts he will stay with you until the end. You've made your peace with it.
• Thor, as it turned out, had not. One day you get injured, successfully landing yourself in a hospital after the dumbest thing - a simple car accident - puts you out of commission for several months. Even despite Tony's and Strange's combined magical and technological efforts, you have to re-learn how to walk after your spine simply shatters in several places.
• Thor never leaves your side. He's there for the sweat, the tears of painful physical therapy and the anger of not being able to even go to the bathroom on your own. He neglects everything - Asgard, his duties as an Avenger, even his brother's mischief barely manages to get a reaction out of him. When he thinks you're asleep, you hear him crying, whispering to you and to himself that he will not lose you.
• Perhaps, you have underestimated his stubborn streak and willingness to keep you around for longer than mother Earth had intended. Loki must've been feeling the same way, because under the huffing and eye-rolling, you can see the raven-haired Asgardian's respect for his brother rise. And you're absolutely sure Loki knows you're pretending to be asleep just so you can eavesdrop and find out the reason for Thor's sudden bouts of nervous energy these days.
• "We must steal the Apples of Idunn, there is no other way," Thor announces, and you hastily rack your brain for the mythological facts you read upon once Thor had joined the Avengers. "Father will never give one willingly, even if it is me asking. I am way beyond requesting permission and have no mind in extending apologies," Thor's voice is dark and quiet, like when he gets particularly invested in defeating a strong enemy.
• "We, brother?" Loki asks sarcastically but you know him enough. He's been sold on the idea long, long time ago. Anything to get under Odin's skin. "What's in it for me? I, for one, have no desire to go back to the dungeons," The concerns are valid. But, perhaps, if you can get Thor out of the room for ten minutes, Loki can be bargained with.
• You begin stirring, faking a yawn and cracking open your sleep-crusted eyes. Thor is at your side immediately. You smile up at him. "Baby, could you do me a favour and bring the tablet I forgot in Natasha's room? And maybe something to eat?" You flutter your eyelashes and press a kiss to the inside of his wrist. As predicted, Thor departs quickly.
• Loki cocks an eyebrow in your direction, indicating he understood the gesture. You exhale. "I can arrange a permanent residency for you on Earth. Our leaders aren't exactly happy with Odin, either, and are willing to reconsider the agreements, provided Thor stays. The Apple will guarantee that he does just that and... Both me and Thor can easily talk the leaders into writing your name into the treaties," You rattle off, not at all bothered by Loki's surprise.
• To him, you were just another human, a SHIELD lackey and a paper pusher. Perhaps, he didn't know how much Earth's culture depended on beaurecracy or perhaps he simply did not care; for once, you were glad that Earth's comparative weakness to other planets could be turned in your favour. Finally, Loki's grin makes an appearance. "My, my, you're full of surprises, Lady," He addresses you by the title for the first time.
• You grin back, equally ferocious and looking not at all weak despite being bedridden and covered in ugly scars. "The more Apples you get, the better conditions I will be inclined to request for. Perhaps, you may even be recognised as royalty beside your brother," You can't resist dangling the proverbial carrot in front of the Asgardian. You knew how people like him worked and you weren't virtuous at all; perhaps, you may even share the extended lifespan with Natasha or Tony or Clint. "If anybody can pull it off, it's you." No lies were told.
• "Greedy little mortal," He scoffed; as usual, the spikier was Loki's attitude, the more intrigued he was. Deep down you knew he wouldn't do anything that would put him in real danger and Thor - Thor was his father's favourite son and either way, he would come out squeaky clean. Speaking of Thor, he appeared just as the sly grins left your and Loki's faces.
• "Lady Natasha says your device is not in her quarters," Thor rumbles, placing a tray on your lap, frowning. You pick at the food, instantly losing the deviousness, feelings of guilt beginning to creep into you at the fact that you just lied to your significant other. Unfortunately, sometimes there was no other way.
• "Must've left it somewhere else, you know I am forgetful these days," You sighed, leaning into Thor as he began to ramble about having to take an urgent trip to Asgard, skirting around the details and making round eyes at an unimpressed Loki. Thor was a terrible liar, perhaps, even worse than Rogers - and that was saying something. Both brothers depart quickly.
• They come back in several days, both men exhausted and bloody, but Thor's grin is one of triumph. For the first time in months you feel genuinely happy, not at all ashamed of showing your excitement for your upcoming life that you can share with Thor. Once the blonde departs to share the news with his teammates, Loki slides back into your room with a sly smirk and produces a woven basket with eight golden, glimmering fruit.
• "Welcome home, your Highness," You laugh, picking up the phone to dial Nick Fury. Loki laughs back, giving you a mock bow, and departs too, to prepare everything necessary for the ritual that will make you essentially immortal. And, perhaps, your friends, too.
A/N: Hello! I’ve been really depressed lately and I’m very slowly coming out of it. Writing this helped me feel marginally better so I thought I’d share it.
Pairing: Platonic!Loki x reader
Ever since your accident last month, when Dr. Cho had told you that you’d be out of commission for four to six months, you had been in the compound's expansive library every day. You had always loved reading, had a passion for it even, but with all the missions and paperwork and protocol you hardly had time to pick up a book anymore. So you took this time to reinvent yourself. To read all the books that you had missed out on. Every new release, every new book added to a beloved series of yours, was now yours to read.
It was also in those early days of rediscovering yourself that you found solace in Loki, who also spent an ample amount of time in the library. He was technically the Asgardian ambassador because Thor couldn’t actually just get up and leave as he wanted now that he was king. It always surprised you to find Loki with a book in hand when you assumed he probably had mountains of work to do, but you didn’t say a word.
As the days and weeks passed you and Loki grew into a comfortable routine. You would stroll into the library with coffee for you and tea for him, you searched the massive Stark collection to find what you were looking for, and then you and Loki would sit on opposite sides of the couch and read your respective novels. Every now and then you or he would share a passage that you found especially thrilling but other than that, the only sounds were the sipping of beverages and the turning of pages.
Three and a half months after your accident you had an appointment with Dr. Cho so she could assess your progress level. You desperately wanted to get back to the field. As much as you enjoyed the library and Loki and all of those books you were getting a serious case of not only cabin fever but also the fear of missing out. The team, especially your boyfriend Steve, tried to hide it from you, the missions, but it didn’t work.
When Steve came back from missions, the adrenaline still coursing through his veins and smelling of gunmetal and blood you could tell. The sex was always better, he was in a better mood, but he also walked on eggshells around you. Not wanting you to pick up on his upturn in moods.
Unfortunately, Dr. Cho hadn’t cleared you and said you would be out for another three months MINIMUM. You had an early sleep, not bothering to call Steve who was on yet another mission. You didn’t want to bum him out. The next day you were too tired to go to the library. You could hardly lift your leadden body out of bed to go to the bathroom. The next three days followed in the same pattern. You would wake up, do the bare minimum required, and then go back to sleep.
You weren’t sure how many days had passed since your visit to the doctor but you lay in your bed in total darkness, almost full obscurity if not for the light of the full moon shining through your sheer curtains. You grumbled as you looked at the time on your phone, 2:15AM. Great, now you couldn’t sleep either. You were just about to take a sleeping pill when you heard a knock on your door.
“Go away.” You mumbled to whoever was on the other side of the door. You weren’t in the right headspace to deal with human interaction, especially if that came in the form of your literal golden retriever of a boyfriend.
You heard the doorknob turn and shot up in bed, but any argument died in your throat as Loki entered your room and softly shut the door behind him. He wore casual clothes, black sweats and a black shirt, with his hair tied into a loose bun. He had a book tucked under his arms as he walked towards the foot of your bed, his eyes showing concern as he stepped closer.
“Go away Loki.” You admonished as he came around to look at your face which was currently shoved into a pillow.
“Not until you tell me why you’ve been absent from the library for four days.”
“Dr. Cho said I’ll be out of commission for another three months at least.” As you replied to his inquiry, you realized that he was the first person you told. The truth had passed your lips for the first time.
“And?” He pressed, knowing there was more. Loki always knew when someone wasn’t telling him everything. It made him a very good diplomat, and an even better friend.
“And I just feel lost. I feel unmoored okay? Like there’s this huge weight on my chest that won’t let up no matter how hard I try to remove it. I haven’t felt like eating much less reading.” You divulged to him. In the past three months the two of you had grown close, you came to crave his silent presence, and this was the first time you realized just how much you missed your friend.
“Let me read to you.” He said, voice soft as he sat beside your legs on the bed.
“What?” You weren’t sure if you processed his request correctly.
“If you don’t have the energy to read, I’ll read to you, surely you still have the energy to listen.” He teased, cocking his head to the side. But in the teasing line, you sensed a strong amount of sincerity. Something you knew he would not reveal to you, to anyone, often.
All you did was nod your head in response and he crawled over your legs to the other side of the bed, sitting up and resting his back against your headboard. You scooted your head over so that it rested in his lap. You looked up at him, his angular jaw and onyx locks that slipped loose of the bun. Of soft raven lashes that touched his high sculpted cheekbones. Alabaster skin seemed to shine beneath the light of the moon as he opened his book.
He began reading in that beautiful accented voice of his and it didn’t take you long to realize he was reading you Asgardian stories of old. Fairy tales for children, translated from his language to yours. One of his hands rested on top of your head and his thumb brushed gentle strokes over your forehead as he talked of dragons and princesses. His was the last voice you heard before drifting off to sleep, at peace at last, your problems long forgotten.
