So I have this super intimate and nonsexual/nonromantic connection with a lovely human that is way beyond anything describable by words like romance or bffs or chosen family, so we toyed briefly with “quasiplatonic” but found that we prefer “quasipla” (”quazi-plah”) for short. We also find that like the platypus, our relationship is a hodgepodge of elements that don’t make sense to outsiders. Long story short, we smooshed “quasiplatonic” and “platypus” together to make “quasiplatty.” Ware in a quasipla relationship, and we are quasiplatties to each other. I literally just sent the message “Good night, platty!” for the first time and it makes me so happy that I wanted to share in case someone else wants to use these words too.
