The whole pocket fish thing is the most glaring difference you'll notice between Ireland and America. Basically, you'll need to purchase a fish (ideally from a specialised pocket-fish shop, but any supermarket one will do) and place it in one of your pockets. It's an old Celtic tradition, and it will just seem strange if you don't do it.
