also, I think we could probably recognize that like… there is a difference between a game where you beat up a half demon alien cyborg or whatever, and a game partially funded by the US military that glorifies hyper-realistic military operations in a “middle east” coded setting, where everyone with brown skin is an enemy that needs to be gunned down. Like, those things are different.

for literal decades, US schools have policed the clothing of young girls and the clothing and hair of black students so meticulously it’s straight up harassment, but now that they’re being asked to enforce a mask mandate in schools, which, btw, is a million times simpler and easier to enforce than these absurd dress codes, they “can’t control students in that way” because they “value student’s bodily autonomy” stfu and tell us with your whole chest that you’re scared of the rich white soccer mom PTA head cutting funding and you don’t think women & black students deserve bodily autonomy.

“tumblr was just as bad!!!” yes there was stupid discourse on tumblr. however, tiktok allegedly has 1 billion users. tumblr, in 2018, had about 32 million active users. tumblr peaked in 2014 with 100 million users. even if we assume that tiktok is lying, more people, especially young people, have access to smartphones now! Therr are way more tiktok users than there ever was on tumblr. the pile ons and callouts and harassment i see on tiktok is a lot worse than what i witnessed on tumblr. this is a concerning trend we wouldn’t completely write off because “tumblr was just as bad” or “leave minors alone!”

TikTok seems like a real breeding ground for cyberbullying too with how easily identifiable users are. Not a lot of people even show their faces on tumblr.

We got bored of our front lawn so we turned it into a meadow and it is just my favourite thing! So many little creatures!

Just a little information on this:

We grew out the edges of our lawn, and out the back. But we mowed a pathway and a patch on the front lawn for the children to play.

We re-planted some native "weeds" from our veg garden.

We also planted a lot of bee friendly plants (some from seed and some once they sprouted)

The meadow is cyclical, once majority of the plants go to seed we mow it down and re-sow it to grow again.

We are just making this up as we go but after our first mow we are starting to see a bit of new growth. I imagine over winter it will not be very noticeable, but we've had so many lovely bees come to visit :)

during winter we mainly keep it mown down as nothing grows and the frosts get quite bad, but its spring now so we will be resowing and prepping it for summer soon!
