Lexa and Clarke’s Quarters in the Polis Tower
I became curious as to where Lexa and Clarke’s quarters were situated within the Polis Tower after realizing that Clarke’s room is directly under the throne room (x).
This is what I came up with:
1. Lexa’s quarters face due West. This theory is based on the following image of Abby and Kane watching the sunset from Lexa’s room in Season 3 Episode 3 while waiting for Clarke.
Yes, the couch is missing. But the chair that Clarke sits to draw Lexa in is visible (albeit in the wrong location) as are the easel and multi-shelf candle holder.
2. Clarke’s quarters face South. I base this assumption on two images:
In this still of Lexa standing atop her tower in Season 3 Episode 2, it is at the end of the day. The shadows on Lexa’s face indicate that the sun is setting to her right (the viewers’ left). If the sun is setting on Lexa’s right, that direction is West. Therefore, directly in front of her is where South lies.
In the same episode as the above photo, the camera pulls back from Lexa on the balcony. The light reflected on the windows on the tower’s left (Lexa’s right) further indicate that the sun is dipping towards the Western Horizon on that side of the tower.

“What is it?”
“A new commander has risen.”
Murphy, you cheeky lil shit
Look at Lexa...she mad.
How many candles are in Polis tower?
So we all know that Lexa has an obsession over her candles. I wondered how far it actually went. I did the math to find out how many candles there quite possibly are in Polis tower.
Polis tower = 1 hectalexa
1 hectalexa = 10 decalexas
1 decalexa has 4 floors. So a total of 40 floors.
40 floors X about 34 rooms/floor (looking at the image) = 1360 rooms
So we all know that Lexa loves a shit ton of candles in every room. If she had every room in the tower filled with an average of 32 candles (which is a typical amount for her) it would come to somewhere around 43,520 candles. God. Damn. Lexa.
