Poly Primis Headcanons (Saturday)

Today’s Theme: Angst with a glimmer of hope!

There are some stuff that they face together. Trigger warnings--just to be safe.

Edward Richtofen

He rambles a lot and he’s worried that he may be annoying the other three. He’ll distance himself for hours to recollect himself and think about what he wants to say to them. That process takes even longer and he missed a few dates with the others because of it.

Now that he’s in a safer environment, he’s at risk at having panic attacks more freely. He’s paranoid that everything that he has now will soon be taken away and his lovers may still be resenting him because of his past actions. 

Hope: He’s comforted by the others, whether it’s one by one or altogether. They’ll seek him out, bring a warm breakfast to him when he finally wakes up, and try their best to assure him that everything will be okay. He has them and they’ll have him, flaws and all.

Tank Dempsey

He lets his anger take over him at times. There’s been moments when he snapped at the others when they tried to get close. He regrets it, but he doesn’t know if they could forgive and forget those words that he yelled at them.

He has PTSD. It takes him a while to calm down from those episodes; he isolates himself from the others so they don’t see how vulnerable he can get. He’s very certain that Richtofen will call him out on his weakness, Takeo will look in disappointment, and Nikolai will push him away.

Hope: They’re reading up on how to help him with the episodes: Richtofen’s making sure that he’s getting the right medication, Nikolai’s making sure that he doesn’t get the episodes frequently, and Takeo’s finding other ways to relieve him if he does become anxious.

Nikolai Belinski

He has PTSD. He will also avoid the others so they won’t see how upset he can get. He doesn’t worry about vulnerability, he’s worried about what he may do.

He mourns his wife every now and then. He loves the others, but he hasn’t forgotten her and how much he meant to her.

Hope: Richtofen and Takeo are helping him out on his episodes. Dempsey told him that losing loved ones is going to be difficult and that even they would be sad if their family member was mourning deeply for so many years. Nikolai’s doing his best to move on for them, himself, and her; it’s what she would’ve wanted for him. It’s what the others want.

Takeo Masaki

He’s always thinking about the path he was supposed to follow and how his ancestors are frowning down on him for choosing a more simple life instead of seeking honor and glory.

He’s not always sure about whether or not he can make his own choices. He has trouble about accepting his individualism as a whole.

Hope: They tell him that it will take time to adjust to a foreign belief, but it would be in his best interest to embrace it. He’s told that he can and has done so much that wasn’t for the Emperor. He has worth that cannot be measured and that as an individual, he can follow his own path without the overbearing influence that he grew up in.

Poly Primis Headcanons

I should be doing the requests that you guys sent, but @griffincastle just hit me with Poly Primis and I can't get up. Here's some headcanons though!

There's a lot of cuddling among them.

Sharing a bed is a bit tricky (Tank hogs up all the space, Nikolai is the tallest out of all of them, and Takeo and Richtofen prefer a bit of personal space), so they have their own beds if they want to sleep alone for once before joining anyone else.

Nikolai and Tank bond over outdoor activities (A bit of fishing, hunting, or cutting down trees for the chimney). They're rowdy, release a lot energy here, and usually open a cold beer afterwards and talk.

While Nikolai and Tank are away during those, Takeo and Richtofen take the time to do their own bonding (Cooking, going on walks along the countryside, tend to the gardens in the back, practice calligraphy (shodō), and meditation/yoga. The two are mostly quiet together, but they'll engage in philosophical/scientific conversations over tea afterwards.

When Nikolai and Takeo are together, they'll go to the small shops in the area to buy essentials. They take a while here to try out food samples and be a part of the festivities that the market is hosting. Takeo feels more at ease, letting down his usual, calm form. Nikolai is also the same.

When Richtofen and Tank are together, they'll spend their time sharing life stories over lunch or they'll be poking fun at each other as they bake dessert for the others. Tank is more calmer with Richtofen than the other two.

When Takeo and Tank are together, they practice their combat skills. This is their way of releasing stress; their favorites are using the punching bags, archery, lifting weights, and going 1 v 1 in the makeshift ring. They're not too harsh when dealing blows and if it ever goes too far, they'll use the safe word. There's no shame and they're good sports about it.

When Nikolai and Richtofen are together, it's a process of getting to know the other a bit more. Nikolai's trying his best to redeem himself after a long time of scrutiny towards Richtofen, so they spend a lot of time talking. They're usually playing cards over a beer and the atmosphere is a bit awkward. It's a work in progress, but they're taking baby steps over uncharted territories.

When they're all together, they'll spend their days swimming at the lake near their house, going on picnics eating meals from their country, watching corny movies or nature documentaries, hiking, playing board games, spa treatments, and staying up late outside having 'What is life' conversations.

Poly Primis Headcanons (Thurs)

Today’s Theme: Food Buddies!

Note: If I get anything wrong, please forgive me! This is for you @griffincastle!

Edward Richtofen

He’s been introducing his comfort meals to any of them if they’re feeling down. He’s gotten Dempsey into Roulades, Nikolai into Eintopf, and Takeo into Käsespätzle.

Takeo really wants to know the recipe to his Rote grütze. Richtofen simply says that he uses a lot of strawberries in it. 

He bought one bottle of Märzen since Dempsey and Nikolai were curious. They weren’t fans of it, but Takeo found it nice. They don’t know that since Takeo took quick, secretive sips from it.

Kartoffelpuffer is everyone’s favorite from Richtofen’s breakfast.

Tank Dempsey

Junk food is a must for breakfast. The others don’t know how to feel about that when Dempsey heats up pizza rolls and tells them that’s ‘breakfast’.

He pretty much wants a cookout every weekend. Nikolai’s on board about roasting stuff, but Richtofen and Takeo might sit this one out. They’re not big fans of eating outside in the summer heat.

He got Richtofen into eating his version of potato salad, Nikolai’s a big fan of the BBQ ribs, and Takeo seems to like the grilled chicken.

The others can’t deny that apple pie is the best thing they ever had. Richtofen, however, is keeping the pie concept but replacing the apples with strawberries.

Nikolai Belinski

He tries to replicate the stew that his grandmother used to make so he can share it with the others. Sadly, it’s been so long since he had it and the exact recipe is now a fuzzy memory that he can’t recall.

To keep his mind occupied from that, he’ll make the few meals he knows how to make very early in the morning for the others. Concentration is key to making his type of food comforting.

Richtofen’s a fan of the Solyanka soup on cold mornings, Dempsey can’t get enough of the Beef Stroganoff (He’ll bug Nikolai to cook it when he’s hungry and he doesn’t think that pizza can satisfy him), and Take praised him for the Potato Okroshka for the simplicity but delicious taste.

He doesn’t cook much, but it’s considered a real treat among them when he whips something up from out of nowhere.

Takeo Masaki

Takeo takes pride in making meals from his country. He wants everyone to know that it’s superior when it comes to taste and presentation.

Knowing that Dempsey’s not a fan of fish, he’s been making him other meals that he might like. He made the man Yakitori and that was all it took to get Dempsey hooked.

While Dempsey prefers both Soba and Udon, Nikolai prefers Udon and Richtofen prefers Soba.

He once made Kaiseki for his lovers to try and they found it very decorative and the small meals were nice to sample while Takeo talked about them. He doesn’t know when he’ll make it again or what other samples he can put together, but the others are eagerly waiting.

Poly Primis Headcanons (Sunday)

Today: Parenting

My favorite kind of parents xD. This is for you, @griffincastle! It was awesome to write about this ship for a week. Enjoy the headcanons that I wrote while I was eating Dr. Pepper flavored cotton candy!

Update: This was suppose to come out yesterday, but I found out that I’m going to be an aunt again and I went to celebrate! I want a nephew this time xD

Featuring the RiDe child, Joseph and the TaNi twins, Ayumu and Kostya.

Tank Dempsey

He’s playing sports outside with the kids. He’s getting them to be more active outside.

He spoils them more than the others combined. He’ll sneak candy in their room at night, PG-13 rated movies, and will take them out at the bar to see the wrestling matches. Ayumu and Kostya are the undefeated tag team champions.

He’s more careful with Joseph since the boy isn’t fond about going out to bar fights late at night. If Ayumu and Kostya are asleep, he’ll take Joseph outside to look at the stars.

Even though he doesn’t like the idea of being controlling, he will be an overprotective father when duty calls.  

Edward Richtofen

He takes his sons’ education very seriously. He’s proud that his sons are academically gifted and that they can solve large problems in just a few seconds.

He’ll take his sons with him during his expedition and they behave for most of the time, except Edward has to constantly check Ayumu and Kostya. The twins are prone to walking away when they’re bored so Edward feels relieved when the others tag along to entertain them. 

He’s surprised that Joseph took a liking to study more about being a scientist than Ayumu and Kostya did. He’s taking Joseph under his wing to train him.

He also bonds with Ayumu and Kostya. Despite the twins having a strict fitness schedule thanks to Takeo, the twins are fond of the sugary desserts that Richtofen makes for his kids.

He loves his sons and it makes him feel warm inside that his wish of becoming a father is now a reality. He’s proud of his three sons.

Nikolai Belinski 

He takes Ayumu and Kostya hunting when he and Tank decide to hunt wild game. Ayumu and Kostya are excellent at tracking and Ayumu has learned from Nikolai about throwing axes from far away. Kostya prefers close range when taking down bigger game, so Nikolai has to assist him.

He’s not sure how to really react to Joseph. Unlike the twins, Joseph is more reserve to his studies and doesn’t have an interest in anything that involves endurance. He’s trying his best to understand the boy that Richtofen would risk his life for.

Joseph is the only one that will ever learn from Nikolai on how to cook the Russian meals that his other fathers love so much.

Mess with the kids, you’re messing with an angry Russian. You better bring it.

Takeo Masaki 

He’s teaching his sons to embrace the unknown with open arms. He wants them all to know that they will not be shackled by traditions like he was when he was a child. He wants his sons to be who they are and that he’ll accept them as they are.

He is strict though with his sons. He doesn’t have any trouble with Joseph, but he is a scary opponent that Ayumu and Kostya will never disobey. Unlike the others, Takeo will make sure that the sons will know what they did was wrong and will make sure they never do it again.

He’s the one to least likely show his affections openly to his sons. Like his lovers, he shows his love when he feels safe to let his guard down. That’s why he loves taking them all out to hike or meditate to bond with them.

If anyone ever wrongs his sons, he will teach them that the enemy’s nonsense should not define who they are. He will see personally that the enemy doesn’t hurt them. He’s not okay with Ayumu and Kostya taking out their anger on someone (even though he doesn’t know that they’re already doing that behind his back).

Poly Primis Headcanons (Friday)

Today’s Theme: Date Night! Sorry that this came out on Saturday, but at least there’s two sets of headcanons today! This is for you, @griffincastle. You get double divinium!

Edward Richtofen

When it’s with Dempsey, they’ll spend it at the house watching a corny movie and drinking hot chocolate. They get most of their puns from here and they’re not embarrassed to share them with the others. It’s an inside joke on their part.

When it’s with Nikolai, they’ll go to the theatre. When he found out that Nikolai only saw one play back when he was a child, Richtofen took it upon himself to make sure Nikolai saw as many plays as he could. Richtofen also cites plays/sonnets to him.

When it’s with Takeo, they’ll go exploring. Hiking is a fun activity to do at night (The men are very capable to handle any dangers they may face and make sure to mark their trail as they go forward) and there’s plenty of good spots for a picnic. Takeo is usually the one that packs up the lunch while Richtofen packs either strawberry-sour cream cake or Black Forest Mini Pies for dessert.

Tank Dempsey

When it’s with Richtofen, he’ll take him to the strawberry field that’s a few hours away. The field has lanterns hanging above for late-night pickers and the lighting’s good for the two of them to eat handpicked strawberries with a bottle of sparkling white wine.

When it’s with Nikolai, they’ll go share a beer and eat burgers and fries as they catch up on the latest game. They’re fans of wrestling, both on the TV sets and on the bar floor.

When it’s with Takeo, he’ll take him to the beach a few more hours away from the strawberry field. It’s vacant at night and they’ll bring wood to start a fire, blankets, and their swimwear. This date was Takeo’s first time trying smores. Tank likes eating them as a midnight snack on a quiet beach with the warmth of a fire and Takeo next to him.

Nikolai Belinski 

When it’s with Dempsey, he’ll take him to their workplace to show him that he set up a homemade dinner for him. Dempsey nearly loses it when he finds out that Nikolai made him Beef Stroganoff.

When it’s with Richtofen, Nikolai will bring a bottle of that sparkling white wine that Richtofen adores and they’ll share a glass while they enjoy the company. He finds it funny when Richtofen tries to quote another play/sonnet while he’s pouring more wine. He makes sure that Richtofen doesn’t go too far by drinking the rest of it.

When it’s with Takeo, he’ll spend the night with him in his own bedroom. He knows that Takeo doesn’t get too affectionate unless it’s with one person and behind closed doors. He respects the man’s personal space and whatever Takeo wants to do with him. If they don’t get too intimate that night, he’ll bring Takeo close and lay down with him while the other man kisses him softly on his upper body.

Takeo Masaki 

When it’s with Richtofen, they’ll have a late morning meal in their gardens with the fresh produce that they were able to grow. Nothing too spontaneous; the two men prefer simplicity with good company.

When it’s with Dempsey, he’ll humor him with a casual game of football (Dempsey told him one time that he should take up football; a statement that was supposed to be interpreted as a joke). Dempsey regretted everything when he realized quickly that Takeo is exceptional in his own sport. They’re very competitive at the game.

When it’s with Nikolai, he’ll bring him to his cherry blossom tree to meditate. He knows that the man struggles with his inner demons so they’ll try to meditate when the temperature’s cooler and there’s no distractions from anyone, save for the owls hooting and their own steady breathing.

Elderly Poly Primis Headcanons

Edward Richtofen

When he’s with Dempsey, the two are enjoying each other’s company in bed as they reminisce on their youth. Edward can’t move around as much as he used to, but that hasn’t stopped Dempsey from spending time with him (even if the man still acts like he’s young and he should be going with Nikolai). They’re laughing at the puns that they thought were funny back then.

When he's with Nikolai, the two are playing Russian Bingo. Even if Nikolai can’t really see anymore (The glasses aren’t working), Edward is still giving him a fair chance by purposely losing so that the other man can catch up with him. 

When he’s with Takeo, the two still meditate and they still have philosophical conversations over tea (although Edward is laying off the sugar intake due to his health). Edward lets Takeo push him to the garden in his wheelchair and Takeo kneels down next to him to stay close in case something ever happens. Edward is just contempt that he can still meditate with him, even if the wheelchair feels like he’s cheating.

Tank Dempsey

When he’s with Edward, he’ll rub the man’s shoulders, arms, legs, etc. when the other complains about the aching. When he’s not doing that, the two are admiring each other, especially Dempsey. Dempsey’s aware that Edward doesn’t think of himself as attractive now and he thinks it’s his obligation to shower his lover with compliments and that he doesn’t care for the wrinkles or gray/white hair; he still thinks that Edward is lovely.

When he’s with Nikolai, the two are still hard at work, collecting wood and doing outdoor activities. Even if Tank’s hearing has been damaged after years of being close to explosions and Nikolai’s blindness is getting worse, that doesn’t stop the two from getting up early to go out into the woods. The only problem is Tank has to make sure that Nikolai doesn’t wander off. He thought about putting a bell on him, until he remembered that wouldn’t be possible for him anymore. He’s just making sure that his arm is looped around Nikolai’s to guide him.

When he’s with Takeo, they still train, but not as much since Takeo stated that Dempsey’s impaired hearing would be unfair when they spar. Since Edward can no longer walk with him, Tank accompanies Takeo on walks along the countryside. Although the mood is a bit mopey (Mostly from Takeo wishing that Edward could see the flowers blooming on the path or see the sun rising from the horizon), Tank does try his best to entertain the man with light conversations as they walk a little while longer in remembrance of what their lives used to be like when they were young.

Nikolai Belinski

When he’s with Edward, the man is doing his best to cheer up the man by making (or trying, at this point) him the Solyanka soup that he loves so much. If Edward’s hands start to shake frantically, Nikolai will feed him. Since he’s nearly blind, Edward has to be the one to direct him, but Nikolai sometimes gets soup on the man’s cheeks and clothes. He brings napkins and bibs (He doesn’t know that he’s making Edward wear the baby bibs that they had for their sons, but Edward is so hungry that he no longer cares) with him after that.

When he’s with Dempsey, the two are still drinking buddies at the local bar. They’ve been getting free drinks for the past 50 years by the owner, who’s thankful that the two have broken up a few nasty fights over the years they’ve been patrons. They’ve garnered respect and even in old age, the two are still going strong. If they do get in any brawls, Nikolai has to depend on Dempsey’s eyes and he makes sure to hear anyone trying to sneak up on them. That’s how their evening is summed up.

When he’s with Takeo, the two will be up late at night reading. Nikolai finally finished the stories that he promised that he would make for Takeo and he’ll listen as Takeo reads to him what he wrote. By the time Takeo’s done reading, he’s asleep with his head on Takeo’s lap.

Takeo Masaki

When he’s with Edward, he’s taking care of him. Takeo learned a lot from watching/hearing Edward about medical needs and since the one person who usually did that can no longer do such a thing, it’s Takeo’s duty to make sure he’s not in too much pain. He’s patient with the man and he’ll be firm with him if Edward tries to get out from taking certain medications. The scene is ironic in many ways.

When he’s with Dempsey, the two are resting under Takeo’s withering cherry blossom tree (They never got the chance to plant another one). They don’t talk since this is Takeo’s meditating place, but Dempsey likes to ramble about how he managed to get Takeo’s cherry blossom tree in the first place. In a way, Takeo’s grateful for Dempsey’s talkative personality; it was a journey when they were younger, but it’s a comfort to hear the man now. Dempsey seems to be the only voice that he hears now and he’s thankful that he’s not alone at the moment. 

When he’s with Nikolai, the two are slow dancing. It was rare for Takeo to dance with any of them, but with each day passing that could be his last, he wanted to experience it. It’s terrible for the both of them (Nikolai keeps stepping on Takeo’s feet on accident and Takeo has zero experience), but they’ve been getting advice from Joseph when it comes to dancing. Now that they have it down, Takeo wishes that he could’ve done this years earlier.

Together

They’ll listen to the music on the gramophone as they do their thing in the living room. There’s nothing drastic about it, they’re all enjoying the silence with the accompany of old time classics from their motherlands.

After Schlingel’s death, they all decided to get another dog for their own reasons: A guide dog for Nikolai when he wants to be alone in the woods, a dog that can keep up with Dempsey’s personality, a dog that can be patient/keep Edward company when the others can’t, and a dog that can walk with Takeo to do errands with so he doesn’t feel obligated to drag someone with him. They adopted Lotti, a purebred vizsla that tends to everyone’s needs.

They don’t go out as much as they used to as a group, but being indoors is enough for them. They still cuddle, though.

Their sons still visit when they can and they bring their children with them so Edward, Takeo, Nikolai, and Dempsey can meet their grandchildren. One can only imagine how happy they get when they see their grandsons and granddaughters. 

Edward seems to forget his joint pains because he gets so happy when he’s surrounded by them.

Dempsey’s ready to play and the grandchildren don’t seem to mind repeating their stories when Dempsey asks them to say them again but louder.

Nikolai’s glad that he can hear and hold his grandchildren. The fact that he can’t see his six grandchildren but he can hear their small, happy voices and hold them close to him brings the man to tears. No one judges the man for being too emotional: he’s seen many horrible things in his life, the one time something good is standing right in front of him, his vision just had to be gone.

Takeo teaches them all the lessons that he learned over the years and he’s proud that his grandchildren will carry on their legacy when it’s his and his lovers’ time to go for good. He knows that the kids will be living a bright future and that thought makes the man happy.

Lotti loves the grandchildren.
