I have strong opinions on media that would be made Better with Polyamory! Here are my top 5:
5) The Princess Bride. I hear you say, "But the point of the movie is that Buttercup and Wesley's love is the most pure! The most perfect!" I think that Inigo and Fezzik's love of Wesley AND his love of Buttercup is what ends up saving the day. Sure, they're friends, and men should be able to be friends without sexualizing their relationships all the time. Also, I think Wesley should be able to rough house his boyfriends, and I think that the love they all share in escaping the stories they were trapped in by various circumstances and riding off into the sunset together is significant! Their love transcends just sexual or platonic, or even romantic! They're a family. They're a polycule. They're an adventuring party.
4) X-Men. Wolverine deserves multiple lovers, and I think particularly movie Scott and Jean would benefit from an adamantium marital aid.
3) Scooby-Doo. I think a lot of the tension in the Scoobyverse is Daphne being forced to just date Fred and getting frustrated that he's ignoring her. Daphne and Velma should be allowed to kiss. Fred and Shaggy need to be closer. This would finally mix up the "let's split up and look for clues" pairings. Improved!
2) Lord of the Rings. It's much more fun to fight alongside your boyfriend/boss AND to fight to get back to your sweet Rosie Cotton. I don't think monogamy is the only relationship style in Middle Earth. The time before Frodo jaunts off into the afterlife and they are a hinge throuple are when I think they are living their best lives. Samwise Gamgee has more than enough love to go around.
1) Teen Beach Movie. Obviously, these are teens. We're not talking about their intimate lives. The romantic chemistry of these 4 people is insane. They all are perfect for each other. The movie involves them all falling for each other in different ways, and yeah, they're awesome friends and 2 separate couples by the end. HOWEVER, watch this movie with polyamorous biromantic plots in mind, and it makes it infinitely better, in my humble opinion.
(If you can be respectful to polyamory in your argument against these or for other properties, I am willing to hear you out. Otherwise, just scroll, please!)
Honorable Mentions: Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Ice Age, The Barbie Movie, and Wicked.
