Request: Since you take requests can you make one where reader is new in school and meets Ponyboy and then after like a few months of being close he tells the reader that he's in love with them and then they share their first kiss together? Hope you like it! It was your first day at this new school and you were nervous as hell. The anxiety was compounded by the fact that you were also a freshman, and a young one at that. But most of the students just ignored you throughout the day. They had their own lives and friends to deal with. In fact, you hadn’t really met anyone by the time you got to lunch. You stood with your tray, looking at the throng of noisy teenagers sitting and eating with all their friends. Almost every place was taken, except a table near the back of the room. A few of the boys that had lots of oil in their hair were hanging around back there, but just one boy was at the table, nose in a book, randomly taking bites of a sandwich. “Do you mind if I sit at your table,” you asked meekly. His eyes glanced up at you, widening a bit as though he hadn’t been expecting anyone to bother him. Mouth full of food, he nodded emphatically before swallowing. “Sure!” “Thank you,” you smiled with relief, setting down your tray and pressing your skirt close to your thighs so you wouldn’t wrinkle it too badly when you sat. “You’re new here, aren’t you,” he asked, closing his book around a finger. “I think we’re in the same history class.” You offered him a hand across the table and he shook it gently. “I’m y/n. It’s nice to meet you…” He mumbled something under his breath, reopening his book like he was trying to avoid the question. It confused you a bit and you replied “Excuse me?” “My name’s Ponyboy,” he answered, though his voice was still hurried. You grinned wide at him as his cheeks grew red. “That’s a really nice name. I wish I had an interesting name like that.” Pretty soon, his grin was as wide as yours. After that, you and Ponyboy were fast friends. He showed you around town, told you about the Greaser/Soc rivalry, introduced you to his family and the gang. You did almost everything together, homework, studying, sometimes even dinner at each other’s houses, at which Ponyboy expressed nervousness because he’d never been to a girl’s house for dinner, let alone on that side of town. But your parents liked him just fine, seeing that he was a gentleman despite the grease in his hair. The first time Ponyboy grabbed your hand at the movies, you knew you were smitten. Certainly he had always been a good-looking guy, with those green-grey eyes so like the stormy sea, but it was that simple little intimate touch that made your heart skip a beat. You tried to keep the feelings under wraps, though you couldn’t help the flutter in your stomach when he smiled at you or when your knees knocked together when you sat close. You were so busy worrying that such a handsome and sweet guy like him would never like someone as silly as yourself that you never noticed that the smiles he flashed you were always accompanied by flushed cheeks at the sight of you or that all those touches you thought were accidental were anything but. It was a huge surprise to you then, when one night, leaving the library together with a few books, Ponyboy stopped you, looking fidgety and nervous. “Y/N, we’ve been hanging out for a while now, right,” he asked, knuckles turning white as he grasped the book in one hand, the other brushing through his hair haphazardly. “And we have a good time together, gotten to know each other pretty well, right?” “Yeah, Ponyboy,” you nodded slightly. It took you a moment to realize you were holding your book across your chest like a shield, hoping like hell he wasn’t going to try and rip your heart out. “Y/N, I… Well, I guess what I’m trying to say is,” he mumbled, running his hand across the back of his neck. “I’m in love with you, y/n.” All the air left your lungs in that instant and you struggled to breathe and think. Ponyboy Curtis was in love with you. The boy of your dreams, with his kind face and his gentle touch, for whom your heart had been beating for the last month or so, was in love with you. Suddenly, you realized your lack of response when you saw the crestfallen look on Ponyboy’s face. Not able to put together the words you wanted to say, you rushed forward and pressed a kiss into his lips. They were so soft and warm and you could feel yourself almost melting as he wrapped his arms around you. When you could finally think and breathe, you pulled away to give him a smile, barely able to contain your excitement. “I love you too, Ponyboy.”
