I ask for few things in life. one of those things is a pool room.

I miss when backroom images weren’t almost ai
There's nothing like a fun evening to wipe out a very long day. 😊🎱
I didn't win, but I had a good laugh when a 17-year-old boy tried a slightly awkward flirting approach. It was cute, but he seemed like he came straight from his middle school 😅 (I'm not kidding, it was really too cute, but no…)
after discovering the electric state (graphic novel ofc) i realized that brutalistic post apocalypse is one of the theme that i really, REALLY loved since my teenage years!!
welp here's me making a list of other medias that shared similar environment vibe or story themes like electric state. TW FOR MEGALOPHOBIA!!
girls last tour
brutalistic buildings and post-war consequences eughhggh, also to me this is the most similar one to electric state, the kind of post apocalypse that's quiet and gives off this haunting feeling because there were so little humans in that world
stray
said to be inspired by kowloon city and it showed a lot in here
asteroid_ill's illustrations
i kept getting this artist's art recommendation for my personal writing/architecture inspiration and their work are genuinely wholesome!
blade runner 2049
imo it's slowburn at it's best, the misty-brutalist aesthetic in here were my jammmm
i'm still coping from that shitty netflix version, i feel like denis villeneuve is a better choice to direct because many of his movies showed his ability to create a megalophobic, brutalistic, yet haunting shots like augjhghgds they're so goood!!! ToT)
serial experimental lain
heavy on environment and wires/electrical aesthetic
poolroom
there's no electrical aesthetic but this one nailed the quiet liminal-megalophobic vibe
cytus ii
the story imo isn't as quiet/calm-eerie like electric state but it's a pretty cool look at robots v humans storyline
puella magi madoka magica - madoka magica rebellion
tbh madoka magica surprised me the most to even being able to get into this list, but ngl despite it's story about magical girls the environment is seriously giving me genuine anxiety and yet i love it so much augahsdjashd
blame!
i also kept getting recommended to this manga from pinterest when looking for inspo, never really read it but it looks similar imo
loki (specifically on season 2)
idk what the heck the filmmakers were on but gawd damn they cooked really hard with mixing mid-century modernism and brutalism architecture!! the difference within the electric state is that this one is pretty much takes place within it's interior design
bonus : godzilla king of the monsters
i decided to put this one because imo it is one, if not THE most beautiful depiction of a hopeful kaiju movie!! and the way each kaijus were shown are beautifully terrifying, when their silhouette dance around in the storm that's when it clicked to me, it gave me the vibes in central valley, the coast, and the sea
anyway that's all yayy!! i'm sorry if a few of these weren't exactly as similar to electric state, i'm looking forward to continue reading it tho :D
thanks for reading this far!
