look, we all harp a lot on the implications of CL’s “it’s weakness.” “what is? love?” conversation followed in the same episode by clarke sending bellamy into mount weather by saying, “i was being weak,” but can we talk about bellamy’s side of this?
just that morning, bellamy is gung-ho about going into mount weather and risking his life for his friends, who he cares about just as strongly as clarke does. he’s adamant, even, but all it takes is that one famous line from clarke to get him to stop pursuing it: “i can’t lose you, too.” she’s just lost finn, and this girl he cares so much about is begging him to stay so she won’t have to risk that loss, and so he stops. even with his friends trapped in the mountain, he tables that for clarke.
and then he spends the episode sleeping next to her on the enemy’s side, throwing his body in front her as a shield at a tense negotiation gone wrong, running after her as she throws herself into danger again and again- anything to protect her. it just makes sense.
only at the end of the next day, for her to look him in the eye and tell him to go. “i thought you hated that plan, that i would get myself killed?” “i was being weak. it’s worth the risk.” the heartbreak on his face is so plain in this scene, it kills me. because though we know clarke’s heart is shattered, and she’s furiously trying to protect herself, all bellamy knows is that the girl he loves cares about, his coleader and confidant, has switched gears in an instant, from him being someone she can’t lose to being expendable, just like that.
he got what he wanted, to go in the mountain, to rescue his friends, but certainly not the way he wanted it.
Bellamy chasing after Clarke and Octavia yelling "eyes sharp" while they run ahead anyway.
↳ That's it, that's the show.
Oh boy Stretch Armstrong is real fuckin mad now
Bellamy struggling to get the words “clarke’s dead” out of his mouth as if they burned his soul broke my heart into a million tiny pieces

Work In Progress Wednesday
From a random The 100 fic:
He picked up the strands of hair sticking to the side of her face and gently moved them over one at a time before tucking the group behind her ear. The entire time her eyes never wavered from his. Except for when they darted down to his mouth. He swallowed hard--his heart racing painfully in his chest. He could barely hear his own thoughts which is probably why he didn't get the message that this was a really bad idea.
Sliding a hand down the side of her face, he tilted her head up slightly then leaned forward. His lips brushed hers, and she tasted like sweat and metallic water. Clarke froze at first, but then her mouth softened to his touch. He could barely believe this was finally happening. Every inch of him vibrated.
Then Clarke jerked back. She had a wide-eyed expression that put Bellamy on alert. He could feel her tense against his grip so he slowly let go, making sure she was steady on her feet. She took a step back then two before her fingers slid over her lips. She wasn't looking at him, and his world crashed in around him.
"I can't do this, Bellamy. I can't do this now."
