What if that garbled backwards talking voice that plays when the “Tears of the Kingdom“ words are onscreen is the voice of Fi? Changed from 10,000+ years of aging and the terrible damage on the Master Sword? What if she’s trying to talk but can’t communicate intelligibly?
I get how Sky would hate Wild for breaking the Master Sword like almost every 5 seconds but I think he'd lose his shit once he finds out Wind left Fi down in the bottom of the ocean.
going by the teasers of broken Fi for BotW2, and the magic exhaustion mechanic of the first game. How is Gen going to react to Rune's Fi once Rune gets her from the forest
Gen slams down a jar of sword oil in front of Rune's face. "Good news, you have no idea how to take care of her and I'm going to teach you, so sit down and shut up and I might take pity on you and help you get the rust off."
Prompt: Fi gets scammed. Darman is like "lol" but also kind of sympathetic. Niner tried to prevent it. Atin let it happened because 'the burnt hand teaches best' i.e. Vau logic, lol.
I wrote this on a plane so probably some inaccuracies, it's a little rough, blah blah, that's my disclaimer. 😅 It's not exactly what you described but I kind of like it. Hope you do! And thanks for the suggestion, kept me busy while in the air!!
Poor Fi. And poor Atin.
......
Kal Skirata is the picture of disappointment. With his arms crossed and his heavy boots tapping against the cheap dark tile floor. Niner hates it. Even when the anger isn't directly pointed at him. It makes him feel like a two year old cadet again. Skirata faces Fi with a heavy stare. To his left Darman and Atin stand at attention and Niner forces himself to be perfectly still to his shifting brother's right.
"And you didn't bother to watch your back?" He asks. Fi shakes his head. His shoulders are slumped and eyes fixed on the floor. He looks like a thoroughly beaten akk pup.
"No sir." He says.
"Fi. You're not stupid."
"I know that Sarge."
"What do you have to say?" Kal turns, his gaze now directly on Niner. He's shorter by a whole head but Niner feels immeasurably small next to him.
"Sir, nothing, sir." He says. The Mando raises a brow, obviously disliking the answer.
"Niner, you're supposed to be in charge. That means looking out for your squad and making sure osik like this doesn't happen." He says. Niner forces himself not to flinch at the raised tone. He had been looking out for them. He had warned Fi. Told him to watch his pockets. To make make sure no one was sneaking up behind him.
"Yes sir." He says. Kal sighs and his shoulders slump. Suddenly he looks old. Old and tired. It makes Niner feel worse.
"Go get something to eat. All of you."
A chorus of 'yes sirs' fill the room and Niner herds them towards the stairs. He gives Fi a push, shoving him forward as they follow Darman and Atin down the winding stairs.
"Told you." He hisses. Fi shrugs and Niner knocks his fist into the back of his head. Fi tips his head back, the usual lazy grin absent and a rather sad glint in his eyes.
He hates it when Fi does that.
Fi didn't know. He doesn't have any experience. No knowledge to go off of. He couldn't have known the Twi was out to get a quick credit. All he had wanted was a snack. A few warra nuts to share. It wasn't really fair to expect him to see everything. To know the Twi had an accomplished pickpocketing friend.
He sighs and ruffles his brother's shaggy hair. He'll need a cut soon. They all will. But Kal'buir wants them relaxed. Wants them to not have to worry. Not for now anyway, so he doesn't say anything, just ushers his brothers forward.
Darman stops on the downstairs landing and pats Fi's cheek as he moves past.
"Want some nuts vod?" He asks. Fi grins back.
"What would Etain say if she heard you talking about nuts?" His eyebrows waggle suggestively and Dar's eyes darken.
"Cut it out." Niner snaps. "Go get something to drink." His voice is sharp, the sergeant once again. The two shrug and head to the counter. Niner follows Atin to their table in the back. It's their preferred spot. With a clear line of sight, and easy access to the exits it had quickly been deemed "their's" and Laseema made sure to keep it empty for them.
Atin slides into the booth. He had thus far been apathetic to Fi's plight. Even mumbling something along the lines of "he had it coming" on their way back to Qibbu's. No one paid him any mind of course. Atin had been raised by Vau. And the callous Sergeant valued both pain and fear as necessary to learning.
Kal'buir didn't.
Atin was learning.
"It was just a few credits. Could've been worse." He says quietly. Atin shrugs.
"Sarge should've had him doing extra drills for days." The, Vau would have, goes unsaid.
"That's not how he does things." Niner says. The other man nods, his hands twisting around the egg shaped spice shaker. The smooth glass glints in the light, catching the dim glow of the overhead lights. Across the room, Fi laughs at something Darman says, already forgetting his unfortunate mistake. Dar has his hand around Fi's neck, gently shaking him. It's a soothing gesture. A gentle and affectionate teasing.
"Tell you what," Niner says suddenly. "Why don't you go order us a snack? Laseema always gives you the best stuff anyway." He says. Atin's face reddens but he says nothing as he slides out of the booth. Niner grins and kicks at his leg, shoving him toward the bar where the pretty blue Twi is sliding four cups of juice to Dar's waiting hands. Atin wanders off and Niner sits back to wait.
My muse has been acting strange, send one for you muse to...⅌ - Drop a kitten on my muses lap!
Fi jumped, nearly startling the poor thing into jumping right back off of her. Unfortunately small animals were drawn to the Master Sword’s magic so after a moment of tension for both kitten and Spirit the little thing nuzzled her stomach and started to purr. She didn’t relax at all. “May I ask what... This is for?”
