I'm bored so I'm making my own personal stim toy/tool favorite list. My 5 personal single favorites, then explaining why I like the entire category. My top 5 picks for the ones that work best for me are pictured below:
1st place: fidget cube
2nd place: fidget crawler/articulated slug
3rd place: squishies
4th place: wacky tracks(right spelling?)
5th place: pop-its
Here's why, for the kinds of stimables as a whole:
Fidget cube and relatives (fidget pad, fidget dodecahedron): While the slug has quickly plowed through the list and reached second place in only a week, these fidgets still reign supreme due to a few things. They can be quieter if need be, they more options for different situations, and they're easier to carry around. Much smaller and therefore handier (maybe not in the case of the dodecahedron). The slug is larger and can't be brought into a store as easily as the fidget cube and pad can. I never thought that the fidget cube I got for less than 5 dollars from that one "5 dollar and under stim toys" post in the past would be as good as it's been!
Slug: This thing is just super pleasant on so many levels. A nice weight, moves nicely in my hands with pleasant clacks, and has satisfying colors that I love to move around for a nice visual. It lifted my mood immediately when I got it and it hasnt left my side since. If only I could bring it into grocery stores and such without drawing in attention.
Squishies: Classic. Nice squish, good stress relief, and they come in various sizes and rising speeds for whatever you're in the mood for. Even the super cheap ones can come in handy too, especially if they come with a clip for putting them on your handbag and such. So much variety for a variety of interests!
Wacky Tracks: A nice sound when bent around, and in the case of my favorite one (that came from stimtastic. Thank you again💜) not too loud nor hard to snap. Just a nice little clicker, and while I can't completely explain why its better than others other than those reasons, I just...I dunno. I just really like the yellow and orange one. Really suits my needs!
Pop-its: I understand why they got so popular! The once again varying degrees of poppage, the many shapes and sizes, and the satisfying realization of resurrecting bubble wrap, it all just comes together to make an interesting and addicting item. If you like them and they work well for you and you don't already have a small one for putting on your handbag or whatever for store trips, maybe one may help you if you need to keep your hands busy during said trip? The small ones don't tend to make too much noise compared to the small ones I think. And in larger stores you really can't tell sometimes.
And that's it for my personal top 5! There were runner-ups also, and it was hard to choose at some points I must say. I have many other kinds of tools and all, but these were still very high up there:
Putty (I like the softness of silly putty specifically), puffer critters and the like/things with those stretchy or rubbery frills or whatever you call them, fidget spinners, and boinks. Would also add that I also love pop tubes, splat balls, this one mini slinky, this specific texture that's like rubber and spiky that you can rub, and a ring with beads on it, but there's no more image room.
Anyway that does it for this personal ranking! It was entertaining to make, and honestly if anyone else made posts like this, I'd love to see others' opinions on their top stimables as well! Everyone's opinions are different, what works for one may not work for the other, it was all opinion, yada yada and so on. If you checked this out, hope it was an entertaining post! And I'm sure it was if you enjoy seeing groups of stim stuff together like this as much as I do! Happy stimming, yall! :D 👏🙌
