Think I just found a tumblr scam blog pretending to be a staff blog

For a general summary of what this is about, this blog made a singular post and then @‘s users in the comments, claiming that due to reports by other users they’ve been put into “lurker mode” where no one else can see or interact with their posts but them, and that you need to verify your account to remove “lurker mode”

This DEFINITELY looks like a scam imo… especially since I immediately received a like on one of my drawings on my Art blog immediately after being @‘d by this blog, disproving the “lurker mode” thing.

I don’t Trust it, it being on some random account with that as the only post. This happened yesterday too. Is this a scam or an actual thing? I don’t know why it would be an a fail thing, seems majorly fishy. Anyone else been getting this?

Edit: 100% a scam. The link there is fake, they put a tumblr url but linked it as something else and it’s asking for my bank data. This happened yesterday and I blocked the account and reported it yesterday but now it’s happened from a whole other account. I’m pissed. Anyways link takes you to a completely external site, if you get this notification just block and report

What happens if you click the link, btw. Notice how the irl is, to be precise, not fucking tumblr.

These are scam accounts trying to get people to go to a phishing website which will steal your information. Stop and think: did you pay money when you signed up for tumblr? Does the url address say 'tumblr dot com?' Did you try googling if it was a scam? Those are the type of things people tend to not stop and think about. :)”

Anti-scam side of tumblr I need your help. I have no idea wtf is going on with my CashApp

I've never screenrecorded anything, so I hope you can here me, but this has to be a scam, right? It's rapidfire, taking small amounts from me, from businesses I don't recognize and Google Play purchases I didn't authorize. I blocked some of these businesses, but they just came back with a new one. It's stopped a couple times, which is concerning because it only should have stopped once and never happened again.

Just testing cuz @125781284905124 has just tagged me claiming that I've been essentially shadow-banned due to "Suspicious Activity"

The thing is the blog has one post, looks like it's got an AI generated image trying to look official and has atted a lot of people.

I'm well aware that Tumblr actually has an official blog which is not the one that @ me.

So reblog if you can see this.

Update: @third-law-of-thermodynamics has also apparently been tagged by @125781284905124 claiming that they've had restrictions placed on them and they've just liked this post.

So, Third Law can see this post, which means others can see it. And @hairymonkeyhands also reblogged Third Law's post (so did I).

Which means we can see each other's posts.

So, yeah, it's defo not legit then. Report @125781284905124.

EDIT 2: I should also mention that literally a few minutes prior to being tagged by @125781284905124, I had made a post asking if female Gnolls had the same sort of genitals as female Hyenas.

Which is funny considering what this scammer is asking me to do.

EDIT 3: The scammer's blog is gone, either they deleted it or Tumblr banned it.

Anybody else get this weird comment from this multifandom account saying they needed you to DM them cause of something regarding your account and that they got spammed in the chat or something only to get blocked cause you asked if their account was hacked cause it looked suspicious?

Hello, everyone. This isn't my usual post, but I want everyone to know about this scam that I had nearly fallen for. I only know it was a scam because I messaged my friends about it, and @star-critter was able to point out that it was very simular to a scamming situation that he had.

The same friend, Star, has told me that people get their accounts hacked and that same hacker uses that stolen account to scam others. So, the individual that contacted me may not be the true owner of that account.

Just got an exceedingly weird notification from a “notification help” post I was tagged in, saying something about my account being at risk, said something about compensation too. This was immediately followed by a reply to my OC post asking about my account/getting in contact through dm’s

After I blocked that commenter, suddenly the help post got deleted(?) I can’t even access it through my activity board 🤷 I imagine both were scams, but thought I should let people know anyway

If it’s actually a scam, please repost so more people know abt this
