This experience has been so awesome ....studying Velázquez in front of one of his most special paintings : “ La Coronación de la Virgen”. During eighteen days I have been looking at this lady directly to her eyes, seeing how elegant her gesture is and the delicate of her face. I have been surrounded of a lot of people all the time listening how they talked between them and in some moments some of them asked me questions about the painting. And it is a funny story that one morning a man made the best question of all: “why your composition is not telling the story of the most important part for the meaning of this painting? Why God and Jesus are not there? Why you are just showing María?” Honestly...in that moment I did not like the question (he smelled to alcohol...) , but after a moment I understood why he asked that to me! I am showing María with no mans above her so she is the main character just telling the story of “who is María “. Looking forward to see what happen with my painting after this. Ca. 1853. Oil on canvas by Isidoro Lozano Queen Usenda, granddaughter of Don Pelayo, played a crucial role during the Reconquest. Isabella II gave her and her mother a place in the Chronological Series as titular or proprietary queens, which they apparently were not, in her efforts to shore up her own legitimacy.
