time for lorestuff !! ft . the kids at the peak of their skills

in this iteration , the hamato clan start training at ten years old .

on their tenth birthday , a child will be given their first training weapon , as well as a locked box containing the weapon they will use when they have mastered their discipline . for now , they are taught to take great care of the box , and their adult keeps the key until they are ready for it

once they have completed their training and opened the box , they are also awarded a title , which represents the aspect in their training which stood out most . this title is mostly ceremonial , but over the years , many ninjas’ real names have been forgotten , and only their ceremonial titles remain

when these four get their titles , they will be called Leonarda the Lightfoot , Raphael the Ruthless , Donatello the Disciplined , and Michelangelo the Mystic

i’m answering this here bc i forgot to make asks an option on the sideblog ;;-;; sorry bout that anon . the askbox is open now tho

yes she is , but mostly bc she’s the oldest , so she has the most experience

she’s also a great planner , tho she does take tips from her siblings ofc . she’s got the most knowledge on technique , but don has a mind that works fast under pressure , raph is a great out of the box thinker , and mikey ofc has his mystic powers , which in this work a bit like jedi with the force , in that he has a sort of in the moment precognition , but only for very immediate events

overall , leona’s best leadership quality is that she’s a very fair thinker , and tries her best to make everyone’s voiced heard while also taking into account the best course of action

but she is still a kid , and is still very eager to please , so she does tend to lean on splinter as a bit of a crutch when making big decisions . which is fine at first , but can get to be a problem the longer it goes on …

pt 2 but this one is mostly splinter’s backstory

i totally haven’t been procrastinating this nonono

so last time we left off with splinter slowly learning that a lot of new york is actually smaller than you initially think . not physically , but like . when you find your community and you know the area it starts to feel that way

and since splinter’s been taking a lot of the same jobs , he’s started encountering a lot of the same people . namely , he’s been working a lot with the rabbit yōkai , Usagi Yojimbo

the first time they both worked the same job , splinter thought of usagi as stuck up , because he’s just a very quiet guy . and usagi thought of splinter as cocky and full of himself , because he is

just to annoy him , because he knows it hurts his ego , usagi refuses to call him splinter , instead calling him yoshi . and splinter , trying to get back at him , calls him usa . issue is , usagi isn’t annoyed by the nickname at all , and low key thinks it’s funny

but anyway , they eventually get pretty good at working together , and they’re both generally less annoyed by the other’s presence

splinter ends up growing pretty fond of usa calling him yoshi , but ofc he would never tell him that . but he is the only person that he doesn’t correct

now , the thing about yōkai is that a lot of them don’t want a human in the hidden city , which is understandable . but splinter is . annoyingly curious . even with usagi saying it isn’t a good idea , he still ends up sneaking in . splinter offers for usagi to come with him , but he just looks at him like “ why the hell would i associate w you while you’re sneaking into places you aren’t wanted “ so he ends up going in alone

after a while he gets pretty good at disguising himself or otherwise remaining unseen , and he’s gotten a decent handle on the hidden city . him being a pretty egotistical guy and also not having gotten caught yet , he’s also damn confident when it comes to interacting with the city’s residents even tho he knows he’s not supposed to be there . a few times he even goes into stadiums to watch yōkai fight

so at this point whenever he’s not working he’s hanging out in the hidden city — pretty much just partying in a place where nobody knows him and nobody gets to know him . he also explores a lot of abandoned buildings

gonna have to make a part three holy mccow i didn’t think this would get so long lol
