Sneak taster today of my WIP the Longbourn Conundrum: As he rode along the lane, he passed the only cottage that could be found for miles around. Strange there were candles in the house. He had not noticed that anyone lived there. It had always been well tended when Bingley passed it, but it had always seemed to be deserted and rather forlorn. He could not resist coming as close to the fence as he could to see the occupants, and he chuckled when he recognised the occupants. His mind was now at ease about his friend. Fortunately for him, the occupants of the cottage were too deeply engrossed in their occupation to notice him coming close to peek inside. He did not blame them, in fact, the scene of domestic felicity raised a sense of jealousy within Bingley's breast. They were warm and dry while he rode out to request for the apothecary to come and see Jane who had fallen sick. Bingley would do anything for Jane, so he did not mind going to fetch the apothecary. It was the scene of domestication that was presented to him that he envied. If only his life could be so ordered and calm and peaceful. He shook his head. No, with Darcy in the sitting room the scene was not peaceful. Bingley suspected that they did not know what a picture of felicity they were presenting to passersby who might chance to look in the windows. Hope you enjoyed reading this sneak preview.
