I have heard conflicting things about Pr*defall, some saying it’s just a yearly threat that edgy homophobes on 4chan pull to trick us into hiding, and some saying that they’ve already received hate or that the edgy homophobes in 4chan are going more serious this year. I’m going to be taking some precautions in case the latter is correct, but I won’t be hiding my pride, in case the former is correct.

Hi! Here what I’ve heard about it:

A group on 4chan plans to, depending on the source, infiltrate us, harass us, trigger us, out us, and/or much worse.

Pridefall apparently happened last year. Since then, the group disbanded, and only a handful of members remain.

Said members have admitted that scaring us was the biggest part of their plan.

I understand how dreadful this event feel. I do suggest anyone who needs it to:

disable anons and submissions;

privatize all accounts;

delete all personal information;

avoid the LGBT tag as well as any similar tag until you hear it’s safe;

call a friend, call a hotline, rant, vent,... Play your favorite game, listen to your favorite playlist, watch your favorite series,... Anything to take a breather, even just for a second;

As a precaution and to reassure every one of you, no ask will be directly published until we’re sure you’re 100% safe.

You don’t have to fight them directly. Some blogs have already promised to keep being active throughout June. We will remain active. That’s enough to tell them they haven’t won.

I will search the LGBT, LGBT+ and mogai tag until I’m sure it’s safe for everyone. I will inform you of anyone wishing harm to our community. If you can, report and block them. If you can’t, you can block them without seeing their account (settings → click your main → blocked tumblrs → click the pen → write down url).

If you need to vent: here’s my main @jayofsunight. I won’t publish anything. If you need to let the pressure out, I’m here.

What’s the deal with you hiatus?

I’m kind of a coward, and I don’t want to be around for pridefall. I just don’t want to see any hate on a month where we’re supposed to be celebrating love, the one month a year where we can celebrate all together. Hopefully, I’ll be working on something throughout June, though, so be prepared for that when I come back.

On the topic of Pridefall:

I have heard of the intense threats, and I have equally heard the amount of posts debunking the whole ordeal. Regardless of whether it's fake or not it should be known that 2020 has been a crazy year. Staying safe regardless of whatever is going on is important to all of us.

I don't think any of the big threats are going to take place, but, harassment is still very likely to insue. I know that I won't be able to handle any harrasment well and so as such I will be staying private for atleast the first week of pride, just to see were we're at. Test the waters. If nothing too big happens from there I'll come out of my shell just fine, even better maybe. Might actually participate in pride openly this year.

It is just an undeniable fact for me that if the threats DO take action (which we can't know for sure) that it'll have long lasting affects on me. I'll be better safe than sorry, even if I do turn out to look like a fool if nothing happens.

For the people who are absolutely not scared at all by this, or know for a fact that they'll be safe even if it takes place, I DO encourage you guys be prideful for the rest of us who feel it is in best interest to be cautious. It is just as important that people show bigots that they have no power over us as it is for vulnerable people to make themselves safe in case anything DOES happen. I encourage you all greatly to be strong.

I don't know why I'm posting about this, I just think that it's a little bit upsetting that people are blaming those who are nervous and taking precautions just because it's been threatened before. The stakes are a little different now. The gap between real life and online life has been closing greatly, and that gap has closed even more with the current quarentine. Don't be angry at minors and other scared people for recognizing that the things threatened could affect them and are thus taking minor precautions. Because we don't actually know what could happen. People who habe never experienced this before (like me) don't know what could happen.

If it bothers you, fill their space in the role of pride and scream even louder for them. Don't belittle them they're scared and just want to be safe.

That's just my thoughts, I guess. I'm going to cut this dumb rant short and just shut up now.

Hey everyone. So if you haven't heard of pridefall I encourage you to search the tags for it (if you are very sensitive, tw). In prep for this, the last day of May I'm going to remove my sexuality, pronouns, and gender from my bio. Also, I will be closing my asks, messages, etc just to be cautious. Please be safe during this weird time. If you end up being targeted by these disgusting people, feel free to @ me if you feel like you need to talk.
