Sfw, Female!Reader, Fantasy Au, random thought that I just wanted out of my head, mind the typos! Dialogue under the cut!
You’re a writer/artist, gaining quick popularity across the kingdom due to the satirical works you put out, particularly the ones where you satirise The King.
Your pieces are doing numbers. Sung in pubs, tacked to every board in town, even shoved into the arms of royal guards who can’t do anything but stand at their post and take it.
And you’re beaming, practically swimming in money and praise. You let a bit of it get to your head, suddenly dismissive of any consequences that come with mocking the royal family. Especially with your foreign pen name, feeling safe signing the end of each work while cozied up in your little house hidden away in the forest… that is until you get a knock on the door and… it’s The Prince.
[Or Shouto, crown prince, can barely hold in his laugh every time his father calls a meeting to discuss the crudely drawn pictures of him being pasted around the city. And god the first time he heard one of your poems? Being read aloud in the formal voice of one of the guards? It wasn’t just Shouto who had to excuse himself from the table, but his mother too, trailing behind him with a soft smile on her face.
He makes sure the guards keep any of the flyers that make their way into the castle, citing it as “evidence,” crucial to the investigations. Really he just takes them to his room, gleefully pinning them up. Even taking comfort in them on particularly cruel training nights.
He’s never been malicious, but when it comes to his father, he can be quite testy. Petulant for good reason. Your drawings of his father, the harsh scribbles accompanied by wretched songs, somehow he feels seen. Like the awful hate in his heart is warm and somewhere appreciated.
Shouto also thinks the way you draw his father as just a massive rectangle with two deeply furrowed brows is really funny.]
“You know…” Shouto speaks, unintentionally solemn. You prepare to be scolded on instinct. “You’ve coloured my hair on the wrong side.”
In his hand he raises the crumpled remains of one of your works. Even with the paper having seen better days, it’s undeniably yours— with it’s infamous juts of ink, harsh lines and messy splashes of colour thrown across the page. In your handwriting, there’s a vulgar poem captioning the drawing. Implying the prince to be a bastard, with a women killing smile and a surprisingly impish attitude.
Your signature printed in bright red ink probably doesn’t help your case either.
“The scar is accurate howe—”
“Give me that.” You snatch the flyer from him, crumpling it into your hand and tightening around it.
Shouto doesn’t protest, seemingly entertained by your sudden shyness. The words of [Pen Name] have been always been so crass, he had never expected you to hold such embarrassment. He doesn’t want you to, but he finds it amusing all the same.
“Look.” You don’t like his smile, it’s too soft, earnest. “If you’re here to execute me just do it!” There’s a wobble in your voice when you speak. Not from genuine fear of death, instead you sound like a sulking child. “I can’t imagine the king would send his son for any other reason..”
“Shouto,” He prompts. “I’d like it if you called me Shouto.” In the blink of an eye, in front of you is another flyer. “See.” He points to the picture of him, his name written in massive letters underneath.
“How many do you have,” You groan, snatching the paper from him again. His little disappointed pout feels like a win, it must have been his last. “Then why are you here?”
Shouto stares as if he doesn’t quite know himself. His eyes glaze over you, your cluttered room and to where you fists have finally softened in their grip. Then, like a spark alights behind his eyes, he smiles, responding with blunt determination.
“To be your friend.”

=====
I was just picking berries and flowers for spells when I stepped onto a string I guess and now I'm holding my dress wrapped about my legs, hanging upside down. The rope was around both ankles and when it all happened, I screamed. Now, the good for nothing prince is watching me, studying me, laughing at me for getting myself stuck. His horse neighs and he tends to it for a second, then turns back to me.
"I- are you alright?" He manages to say, much more calmer. "Bakugou must've set this trap.. reckless barbarian.." He mumbles to himself, watching me struggle.
"C-can you help me down?" I had asked, my face confused, though, I think he liked watching me struggle.
"How clumsy can you be? Are you even a little coordinated, commoner? I should just leave you there and watch you try to get down." His snarky personality starts to show.
"Some stuck up prince you are." I snarl back. I struggled and swung around, until my back hit the tree and I yelped in pain. "Shit." I whispered, rubbing my back with my free hand. I said curses under my breath about this guy being a stupid uptight royal.
He snickered at me before walking forward and grabbing the rope. "Oh? Is this really my lucky day? Are you asking me for help, oh you poor girl in distress?" He said mocking me in a sarcastic tone as he walked over to me and began to untie the rope. I looked at him dumbfounded. Is this guy for real?
"Stuck up prince.." I mumbled, mostly under my breath, but he's so close to me, he could probably hear me.
"Oh what was that? Did I hear you mumble something? Well, you'll have to speak louder than that, girl." He snarled while undoing the rope, still. "It's not every day I get to hear a commoner like you speak so loudly, so I don't want to take it for granted."
The rope breaks free and I move a bit to land upside down on my back. "Ow.." I move some and sit up, rubbing my back and looking at my spilled berries and my basket. I quickly try my best to clean them up before the prince touches them or worse, eats them. Though, when I looked up, his feet were right near my face, in front of my spilled basket.
"Oh? A basket? How adorable. What have you been doing with this basket, girl?" He mocked, bending down to grab a berry before standing back up, observing the berry in his hand. It's a blueberry, but the purpose of this specific blueberry is to squish or eat and you teleport to a well thought out location. "Was this what all this is for? If you wanted food you could've just asked." Luckily, it doesn't have magic inside of it yet.
"It's not to eat, stupid prince." I sneered, snatching the berries away from him, grabbing my basket full of the stuff I spilt, and getting up to dust myself off. I gripped the basket, covering it with the blanket I brought. I looked up at him, he was a full 6 inches taller than me, at least.
"What's it for then?" He stepped forward and when I stepped back, I hit my back against the tree.
"That's none of your business, stupid prince." I mumbled the last bit, though, he chuckled before grabbing my wrist and pulling me back close to him as he leaned in close to my face.
"You know, I don't think I even got your name, girl. What is it?" His face was mere inches from mine and I debated spitting in his face, but that would probably put a hit list on me.
"What's it to you?" I tugged my arm away, trying to get away from him, but he's much stronger than me.
"Just curious." He shrugged. "Besides, if I know your name, I can at least remember who I humiliated today." He said before releasing my arm with a yank and crossing his arms in front of his chest. I immediately put my basket up my arm near my elbow and took my other hand and rubbed my wrist. That really hurt.
I walked around him and mumbled a, "In your dreams, stupid prince" before beginning to walk away. "You're just as shitty as your father." I mumbled.
He smirked, I could hear it. "I think I will keep an eye on you, girl." He's freaking me out so I calmly but quickly walked into the dense forest. As soon as I knew he wasn't following, I ate a berry I had stashed away and teleported. I made it into my family's home, a little tree that inhabited me and my mom. My mom was out tending to her job as a healer witch in the forest colony. I went out and greeted some of my neighbors, letting them know I was back from my outing.
When I went back into my home, I placed my basket on one of the tables, going to my room to change into something cleaner. Instead of a red dress with a black ribbon, I changed into a blue dress, one more navy, with a gold ribbon. It wasn't fancy, just cute enough to fit a witch, like myself. I go back to my basket, beginning to sort through the various berries and flowers and herbs I have picked. I put each in their respective jars, labeling new items, and pouring the special blueberries into a bowl to start the teleportation magic infusion. I'll probably work on that now. I smiled to myself and looked more in the bag for my journal, but my smile fell when I couldn't feel it.
Panic rose and I tried to remember where the journal was or would be. I clapped my hands together when I remembered, it was next to my basket on the ground and that stupid prince probably picked it up. "Shit. I gotta go back and see if he really did pick it up or not. I don't know what to do if he actually picked it up." I whispered to myself, pacing my floor. My mom entered the house, wiping her forehead with a rag and smiling, greeting me and welcoming me back home and when I wasn't responding the way she expected me to, she worriedly looked at me.
"What's wrong, my little witch?" Her voice showed worry, she rubbed my shoulders comfortingly.
"I dropped my journal." I confessed, though, she sharply inhaled.
"Do you know where?"
"I have a rough idea, but I need to go now to retrieve it." I nodded to her and she rummaged around the house immediately, grabbing a little bottle of about 3 teleportation berries, a couple small bottles of healing potions, both with different uses, and my knife, along with a couple bandages and some food.
"Where's your little bag?" She asked, placing each item down on the table, labeling the healing potions so I could tell them apart. I ran to get my satchel from my room and threw it over my shoulder, loading each pocket and compartment with the items my mom helped me gather. "Grab a jacket."
"I shall, mother. Thank you." I smiled, grabbing a small jacket and putting it on me, looking at myself in the mirror. "I'll be back soon hopefully." I left out the door and began my walk. I'm limited to teleportation berries so I'll have to use them sparingly. The walk to the outskirts of the forest is a few hours, but I should be there by night fall. I don't want anyone to see me teleporting.
Just as I expected, the night fell and I was just emerging from the forest, spotting the tree I was caught at, looking around to see if anyone was around. When I confirmed no one was around, even behind me, I walked up to the tree, seeing that there wasn't anything on the ground. The remaining berries that I didn't pick up were smashed and stepped on. There wasn't anything there. No book at all and immediately, my anxiousness raised up 10x more than before. "SHIT!" I whisper-screamed, looking around again, even stepping around the tree to see if it was on the other side. With a sigh, I looked at the entrance of the town. It was not that far of a walk, maybe about... a 30 minute walk? When I looked down the hill, the castle in the center stood high and big. The colors of the town, kind of like the colors of my current dress, blue and gold, littered in flags and hangings.
I'm hating the idea of going into town but the prince could've dropped it if he took it with him... I took a deep breath and grabbed my satchel strap in the front of my body, braving myself to go in. The town was more quiet rather than lively, though I could hear distant music and the sounds of crowds talking. I wonder if people in town really like the prince or is just faking liking him. Pretending, in a way. I walked down the many streets and roads, running into a night market, all lit up and pretty. This was where the music, food, dancing, lights, crowds are. I have never experienced something like this before. The whole street was bustling. Our village would hold little gatherings, tea usually, but dancing and music was reserved for wedding ceremonies. Nothing like this for recreation.
With a deep breath, I decided to join the crowd. People, normal humans, enjoying themselves, talking and eating. Dancing where the music was and sitting around. Couples holding each other and dancing, talking. I approached some of the musicians, sawing a bit to the music, tapping my foot, and moving about, dancing with the others, feeling carefree for once, but also highly distracted. I left the music and walked up to a shop where people were making really good looking, yummy candy apples, feeling a bit sad that I didn't bring any coins with me. For once, I forgot silver. I waved to the people making the apples and they waved back with a smile, continuing their work. I moved on to another place, watching them weave baskets and make purses, so cute. I did a cute little excited stomp and the music changed to something more folk and upbeat. My face lit up and when I turned around on my heel, I watched people dance their heart away. I swayed back and forth to the music, clasping my hands together and intertwining my fingers in front of my chest.
When I turned to get closer to the band, I felt a familiar presence pass behind me and when I looked, there was just more crowd. I tried to shrug it off, when the song ended. Another one started, everyone, including myself, clapped happily. Though, I decided to go back to the little candy apple booth to watch them get made more, watching them stir the caramel and put the sticks in the apples to dip them into caramel.
"Excuse me, miss. I saw you looking at those candy apples just now." A voice behind me startled me, I sharply turned around. A man, the same height as the prince, hooded though, looked down at me. I couldn't really see his face, because the hood was bigger than a normal one. This guy reminds me too much of the prince, trying to just blend in to not cause a scene, but I have to act so the crowds and his people don't bombard him. I'm not completely stupid.
"Y-Yes sir, I was. They're beautifully crafted and made. Such delicate hands." I tried to play it cool to the best of my ability. I felt sweat drip from my face from how nervous I was. Hearing his voice again brought me back to reality as I realized very quickly I was not here to shop, dance, or anything of the sort. I came to look for my journal but judging by him being out here, he probably has it or has it locked away in his big giant castle.
He chuckled and looked down at me. Right then is when I saw him. He was the prince with that half white, half red hair, two different eye colors, a scar on his left eye. "It's not often I see someone as cute as you try to act so modest, as you are right now. How charming." He said in a playful and flirty tone, he made sure to keep his eyes on me for some reason, though he gave me a soft comfortable smile. I didn't like it and my alerts went up.
I clasped my hands behind my back and smiled my best fake smile with my eyes closed to try and sell it. "I appreciate the compliment, I think." My eyes opened and a small smile still sat on my lips.
Like I said here I’m going to start posting the occasional darker content posts so fair warning ahead of time this one will involve somnophilia and non-con
I’ve been thinking about the brothers Grimm telling of sleeping beauty, the one where the prince gave her twin before she ever woke up and it’s given some thoughts about prince Shouto.
Prince Shouto who on one of his many “trips” (read as attempts to run from his father) discovered an old castle in ruins and covered in a thick overgrowth of thorny vines that sparks curiosity.
Prince Shouto who cuts and forces his way into the old place hoping to find whatever valuables were left behind so he could keep on the run with whatever wealth he stumbles upon.
Prince Shouto who can’t believe his eyes when he discovers the perfectly preserved body of a beautiful young princess who had to be his age when she was put to rest.
When he gets closer he can see her chest rising and falling, feel the warmth of her skin when he touches her face. He knows it’s insane, her clothes are dusty and the room around clearly aged decades, maybe centuries, but she’s alive just asleep.
He quickly decides it must’ve been a curse, one he was obviously destined to break. And he soon becomes obsessed.
Convinced that his research on her long gone kingdom entitled him to the remains of it, that reading the old faded ink of what was likely her diaries meant he knew her deeply and personally.
And the dreams he’s been having, the ones where he disrobes her and deflowers her, was obviously the key to waking her.
He shudders at the warmth of her pussy wrapped tightly around his cock, convinced that the sighs and whines he pulls from her sleep stricken body, the first sounds he’s ever heard her make, was evidence that he was right.
He just needs to fuck her until she wakes, but once he’s finished inside her and she still sleeps peacefully he’s perplexed. Maybe he should keep trying, maybe he just, just had to keep fucking her for however long he pleased until it takes?
And of course when he returns one day to a new mother, drowsily looking around confused and dazed, he doesn’t think it all weird for him to take their son and kiss her lips. Paying no mind to her shocked who are you?
“Father of your children and your husband, isn’t that obvious?” The prince replies.
*EDIT*
Forgot to mention that the prince didn’t wake sleeping beauty in this version, one of their twins did when trying to nurse from their sleeping mother and instead sucked the spindle needle out her finger thus removing the curse.
Could you do another scenario of Shoto with his wifey and babies? I love the way you write them, so cute!
Another one with the baby beans. And I added a bit of Prince Shoto for my own personal desires <3
Words: ~5700
A bit angsty, mostly comfort and fluff, mentions of blood and injuries
„Mommy, can I have more apples?”, Yukio asks shyly and holds his empty plate in your direction. You nodded with a gentle smile and prepared him another few slices which the white-haired boy happily accepted. As you hold the other half of the apple in your hand you turn to his twin brother, “You want some too?” But the red-haired boy shook his head, rubbing his stomach and leaning back into his chair, “ ‘M full, mommy.” You laughed at Koichi’s cute gesture and took a bite from the green cheeked apple, ignoring how your husband stared at the cup of tea in his hand.
You tried to hide how much your argument with Shoto the previous night still affected you and focused all your attention on your boys. As much as it hurt you, the last thing you wanted was to give in to one of your husband’s fits, not this time, so instead, you pushed your inner turmoil aside and ate with your family, pretending everything was alright. While Koichi was his usual bubbly self, entertaining his dad with his adventures in the daycare Yukio seemed to be even more silent than usual. He never was energetic like his brother but the way he was even more introverted made you fear he noticed the distant behavior between you and Shoto and was suffering from keeping it to himself. Your heart clenched at his downcast expression half-heartedly chewing on an apple slice.
When dinner was over Shoto had offered to clean the dishes, leaving you to prepare the boys for the night but you weren’t sure if you could keep yourself together any longer with the sad look on your boys face. As much as you wanted to comfort him and tell him everything was going to be fine you couldn’t, not when you weren’t sure how to feel anymore, so you left your husband with the kids and did the clean-up yourself.
The argument had started so simply, while you sat on the bed changing a bandaged injury you got that day Shoto paced nervously around the bedroom until you caught his hand in annoyance. When you asked him what was wrong he had just pulled away from your hold, mumbling something, and dropped down on his side of the bed ignoring your attempts to seek his touch by scooting closer to the edge. The air was cold, he had his moments before but none of them had resulted in him pushing you away. You felt like you were pressuring him, and the way he shut you out made your insides twist. So to give him some room to calm down you got up, taking your blanket with you, but when you pushed the handle he was suddenly sitting up and you stopped dead in your tracks.
The look he was giving you was shocking, with a cold stare fixed on your wrapped arm and shoulder you finally understood what was bothering him. The wound you got that day was a nasty burn made by none other than your husband as you had pushed yourself in his attack range, including the villain that had caught in his hold. It was drastic action and if you had the possibility you would have gone for another option, but in that second you panicked, prioritizing the civilian’s life over your own. At the end of the day the villain was caught, your burn was the only acknowledgeable collateral damage and you returned to the agency filing the reports before you headed home.
Shoto hadn’t spoken a single word since you had thrown yourself into his flames and that evening he seemed to break, vocalizing his dislike of the actions you took and pushing all his built-up frustration on you. To some degree, you understood his behavior, but when he demanded from you to consider a change into a less dangerous proficiency, suggesting that you weren’t fit enough to be a hero anymore you snapped and answered his rude comments with some of your own. A lot of the things you both had said that night were absolutely over the top, the only goal of trying to push your arguments by insulting the other had of course ended in frustration.
Now that you had a quiet moment for yourself while cleaning the dishes you regretted the things you said and how you unleashed your stress on him. It wasn’t fair to insult him for being protective and worried, but the way he had worded his opinion stroked your heart like an arrow. As much as you wanted to fall into his arms again, forgetting the horrible things you both said your pride wasn’t letting you give in first. He was the one underestimating you, so he should be the one to apologize.
But the longer this kept going you felt worse, the most distressing part was playing happy family, not dragging your children into your adult problems, but of course, your smart Yukio had to notice your behavior change. The boy seemed to have a sixth sense when it came to understanding how people were feeling around him, and while most of the time you appreciated how he was able to take care of his more boisterous brother with this ability, you now regretted gulping down your feelings instead of discussing them with your husband. If you and Shoto would be a bit more mature your son would be able to laugh like a child was supposed to.
With a determined snort, you finished the cleaning and hurried down the hallway to give your boys a good-night kiss, apologizing to your white-haired bean for worrying him and settling things with your husband. Or at least that’s what you had planned to do, but when you reached their shared bedroom you stopped, listening to the voices of your family.
Inside Shoto was holding Koichi’s pajama for him, waiting for his small hands to reach into the sleeves so he could pull the fabric over the boys had. When the red-haired wouldn’t follow his father’s commands and instead continued to fool around Shoto played a bit around with him until his son finally was exhausted enough to change into his night clothes. You smirked as you heard the soft giggles and your husband’s playful voice, he always had a soft spot for his children and rather joined them in fooling around than actually scolding them.
Yukio seemed to obediently do as Shoto said judging by the silence and the shuffling of clothes that followed. As your curiosity grew while you listened you peeked through a gap in the doorway, watching how Shoto easily held the twins in his arms and placed them in their respective beds. As he ruffled Koichi’s red strands he leaned closer and planted a soft kiss on the boy’s forehead, making the smaller giggle. “Sleep well, my little Spark.” Shoto grinned as his child turned cherry red and pouted adorably at the use of his nickname, then he walked over to Yukio who was cuddling a plushie of your husband in his hero costume, and tugged the smaller one into his soft blanket.
As he did before, he leaned down and kissed his son’s forehead wishing him sweet dreams, but a tiny hand grabbed his sleeve and prevented him from leaving when he got up. Confused Shoto turned around, “Something wrong, snowflake? Do you need to go to the toilet again?” The boy averted his eyes and pulled tighter on his dad’s sleeve, making him sit down on the edge of the bed. “How can I help you?”, Shoto asked concerned, combing through the boy’s silky white strands.
With a tinge of pink on his chubby cheeks, Yukio turned back to his father and hugged his plushie tighter. “Wanna hear a story”, he murmured but seeing how Shoto’s gaze softened he probably understood him well enough. Your husband seemed to hesitate and his features scrunched, “I ask your mother to tell…” The child jolted up before he could finish and threw himself on Shoto’s lap who blinked at the sudden approach. “No”, your son pleaded and you watched interestedly how your usual more level-headed child seemed to lose his temper, “Daddy tells the story! Please!”
Shoto was obviously surprised by the sudden outburst but another attempt to bring you in was refused as Yukio’s warm grey eyes teared up. Immediately your husband rocked the child in his arms and gave in with a tired sigh. He wasn’t really good with things like this, his imagination was limited while you were able to describe the most wondrous places and creatures. Now that he didn’t have a choice but to concede to his son’s plea he found himself as nervous as the day they were born, unsure how to approach this new mission.
Fortunately, the white-haired boy was helping him out by guiding his father to settle against the headboard, snuggling into his side, and waving his still pouting brother over to join them. Shoto opened his arms and held the twins in his arms as he tried to remember how you would start a story. When nothing came up and he felt grey and turquoise eyes watching him expectantly he sighed and did the only thing that would save him from further embarrassment. “What kind of story would you like to hear?”
The boys looked at each other before Koichi took the initiative, “Fairy tale. Mommy always tells a fairy tale with… hm… fairies! And knights, and princes…” Shoto thinks for a second and then an idea pops up in his mind. “Alright”, he cleared his throat and tried to imagine a scenery that would be benefitting his story, and luckily, the first thing that came to his mind was one of a majestic castle on a hill he had visited with you during your honeymoon in Germany.
“Once upon a time, there lived a lonely prince in a castle in the mountains…” “What did he look like?”, Koichi interrupted with an excited glimmer in his eyes but instead of Shoto Yukio answered by displaying his plushie to them, “like this.” With a smirk, Shoto nodded and continued, taking the doll from his son and moving it playfully around. “While the prince lived in a beautiful castle, surrounded by everything he could wish for he had never felt true happiness. While on the outside his life seemed to perfect, he was actually in great distress.” The twins’ faces dropped empathetically. “But thy?”, Yukio asked and snuggles closer to his dad’s side making the man smile at the sweet gesture.
“Because he was cursed. While his father, the mighty king, was aiming to be the greatest he needed more power to fulfill his desires. And doing so resulted in aiming for a child with magical tendencies, that could keep up with his own fiery magic. So he searched and searched until he found himself a suitable wife and produced heir after heir, until one day, his pleas were answered.”
“A fire king? Sounds like grandpa”, Koichi wondered and you choked down a laugh, imagining Shoto’s reaction to his obvious description while you listened from the hallway. “You think so?”, Shoto played dumb and returned to his story.
“Anyways, the king actually succeeded in his attempt when his third son was born. But in his egoistic happiness, he failed to realize that this child was not only blessed with the desired powers but also with a curse to punish the king for his self-serving desires. And on the night of his fifth birthday, the prince and king discovered the nature of the curse…”
“Father…”, the boy was pleading and reached his trembling hand out for the king. The man was staring back at his golden child with pure shock carved on his face. This was wrong, this, that thing, was not what he was aiming for.
Everything had gone so well until now. The ice magic the prince had inherited from his mother was already powerful, but now, that the magic of his flames was descending onto his son things went terribly wrong. Shoto was screaming in pain as black scales appeared on the left side of his body, covering his soft cheeks and boyish features beneath razor-sharp teeth and claws, suffocating the bright flames in absolute darkness.
“Father, it hurts. It hurts!”, the prince screamed again and hunched over, the claws ripping at his flesh as his hands buried in his white hair and the few remaining strands of his red side. As blood dripped from the child’s skin the king paled, knowing that the monstrosity before him was his creation.
From that day on the cursed prince was kept hidden from the world, so no one would ever know that he abused his title and created a monster, born from his own egoistic desires.
Shoto stopped when a tear ran down Yukio’s cheek and he put the plushie back into his arms, shushing his silent crying by tenderly stroking his hair. “Why is the king so rude to his son? He did nothing wrong”, Koichi scolded the imagination of the king and gained a gentle squeeze from his dad. “I don’t know. Sometimes we can’t understand the reasoning behind people’s actions.” Shoto knew that the small boy wouldn’t understand fully what he meant and hopefully, he never had to make such an experience, at least not as long as he was there to protect his children from any harm. The second you had gifted him his two miracles he had sworn to be the best father, and husband, he could be for his family. Never would he become like his father, keeping his loved ones from fulfilling their dreams.
Speaking of which a thought stroke his mind. “Maybe you should step back from the pro hero career.” Shoto had regretted saying this to you the second the words left his mouth. You instantly had paled and waited for a response, but he had been too shocked to answer you, to explain, that he was only concerned for your wellbeing since you were hurt by his flames, but you had already started to growl, leaving him no room to right his mistake.
The poking of tiny fingers made him look at his twin sons. “What happened to the prince?” With a slight shake of his head, he grounded himself again and continued the story, reminding himself he desperately needed to talk to you when the boys were asleep.
“When the king saw what he had done to his child he snapped and locked the prince in the castle, hiding him from his own family. Only a few servants and the king himself were allowed to interact with him, so the prince grew up in empty hallways filling his heart with loneliness. That was until his personal guard, keeping him from leaving his side of the castle, retired due to his age, and a new one was taking his place…”
The footsteps in front of his doors sounded different. The light tiptoeing and swift movements couldn’t belong to the old knight that was supposed to keep him locked up. Judging by the way the feet danced over the stone ground, only here and there did the shuffling sound of cloths or clinking of armor echo from the walls. And for the first time in forever, the now twenty-year-old prince was curious. As he carefully stepped over to the door, he suddenly caught another noise, a lovely voice humming a gentle tune of a song he never heard. Instantly he was entranced. What kind of person was blessing his ears with their singing?
Shoto tried his best to open the door to his chambers without disturbing the stranger on the other side. What he didn’t expect was his heart thumping wildly in his chest, when he peeked through the gap and found the source of the gentle melody.
Walking up and down the hallway was the most beautiful woman he ever laid eyes on. With hair shimmering in the dim sunlight that filled the hallway and eyes that seemed to see right into his heart made his breath hitch. The woman was dressed in simple garments covered with leather armor and a sword resting on the curve of her hips. She too, seemed to be shocked as she locked eyes with him, a lovely smile forming on her lips.
Suddenly Koichi jumped out of his arm and wobbled to grab his own plushie from his bed, returning to rest at his dad’s side with a victorious grin. “She looks like mommy!”, he exclaimed cheerfully and cuddled the plushie that resembled you in your hero costume. Shoto acknowledged his son’s observation with a soft nod…
Pulling himself back together, Shoto opened the door fully and straightened his posture. “I guess you are my new guard?” Her smile grew even more and a soft touch of pink spread on her cheeks as she kneeled gracefully. “Indeed, your highness. It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He couldn’t help but compare her delicate voice to a fairy, while her dexterous movements indicated that she had to be a skilled fighter.
Shoto waited and observed what she would do next, while the woman seemed to be patiently waiting for his permission to rise again. Despite his status, the other servants had never treated him with so much respect and he could feel the blush creeping on his cheeks as he allowed her to stand up. With equal grace, she returned to her feet and eyed him curiously as she continued her patrol up and down the walkway.
It amazed him how she was able to keep him focused on her with such simple looks and he found himself crossing his arms in defense when she stepped closer to him. “Why are you staring at me like that?” He barked and she stopped in her tracks, blinking at him in confusion. “I don’t understand, your highness? Am I offensive?”
Her question made him shift uncomfortably, actually, he wanted to catch her off guard, but now he was the one stunned by her genuine concern. “Not more than the others. You just seem so… unfazed”, he admitted and watched as she suppressed a chuckle. “Forgive me, but I didn’t expect you to be so”, she tapped her finger on her chin. “Scary?” “…Handsome”, she concluded and he felt his body growing cold, gingers twitching as his expression shifted from embarrassed to annoyed. “Say that again when you see the monster”, he growled and turned back to his chamber. Right before he through his doors shut he heard her call. “I will, my prince.”
“The next weeks the prince avoided his new guard to his best, keeping interactions as short as possible and hiding more often in his chambers. His heart was conflicted, the woman was constantly on his mind as he paced around his room. He wanted to hate her, prevent himself from getting hurt again, but the more he tried to discover things he disliked about her, the more he fell. She was so incredibly kind and forward, despite his cold behavior towards her she never seemed to falter in her approaches. It was like she genuinely cared for him, her questions and answers during their short interactions were thoughtful and slowly but steady the icy walls around his heart started to melt, welcoming the light she brought into the dullness he had suffered in for too long.”
The boys couldn’t possibly know this, but Shoto had secretly told them the story of how he had met you in the U.A. He had never thought about things like relationships or marriage before, but the way you had tenderized him until he fell helplessly in love with you had him change his plans for the future. Never once had he regretted the day he had dropped on his knee, asking you to stand by his side as he wanted to stay be yours. The tears of joy on your face had encouraged his own and when you kissed him, accepting his proposal Shoto had finally found true happiness. The boys yawning in his arms were proof that everything he had gone through was worth the pain if it meant reaching this future again.
Yukio tugged accidentally on his collar as he rested his head on his father’s chest, white hair tickling Shoto’s neck as the other boy nestled in his lap. “Did the prince fall in love with mommy?”, Koichi asked tiredly and rubbed his eyes to stay awake, waiting for the story to go on. Shoto combed gently through his son’s hair, leaning back into the pillow to continue the fairy tale.
“Before he understood what happened the prince had fallen in love with his guard. Her presence was enough to fill his lonely heart with joy and as time went on he forgot the pain he had been put through and set his eyes on the love before him, the person who was so devoted to making him smile.
But hopelessly lost in their little dream they failed to notice the king’s eyes on them. The other servants had continuously reported to him, warning him about the forming bond between the prince and his guard, igniting a fear he thought to have forgotten long ago. Afraid that the guard might try to free the prince, in his rage, he commanded his knights to execute the prince’s guard, keeping his mistake secret and teaching his son a lesson.”
Shoto stood beside his beloved, watching the town beneath the castle coming to life, people walking, laughing, and doing whatever they desired. He couldn’t remember when was the last time he felt content with just observing them from afar. Usually, he would be envious, desperately trying to flee and experience this life for himself, but right now it was enough to have his Y/N with him. Maybe, someday she could walk these streets with him, show him the things he had missed out and share as he started traveling the world outside his golden cage.
He sighed pleasantly as he felt her chin leaning on his shoulder, warm breath fanning over his cheek as she kissed her way up to his mouth. “Someday I will take you there”, she answered his thoughts and a happy satisfied smile tugged at his lips. She had filled his empty heart with your gifts that he greedily sealed the distance between their lips. No matter how often they shared a kiss, he could never get enough. The way she poured her whole heart into everything she did, always making sure she didn’t accidentally leave him behind, assured him that her promises would indeed come true.
Lost in each other they noticed too late the heavy footsteps, not till the door was forcefully pushed open and several knights filled Shoto’s chamber, ripping his Y/N away from him. “How dare you?!”, he barked and tried to reach for her as she struggled against their hold, but it was no use. As his beloved was dragged away, calling his name in desperation he felt his body turning colder and colder, frost spreading from his right and freezing the knights next to him. Shoto pushed through them, his ice trapping everyone who came close to hold him back, but when he felt the heat suddenly melting his icy attacks he knew he was too late.
At the end of the hallway was the king himself, fire dangerously blazing on his shoulders and arms as his beloved was pushed to her knees in front of his father, his toxic stare filling her eyes with fear.
“No! Don’t take her away from me!”, Shoto pleaded and cried but the king wouldn’t listen. The temperature rose higher and higher as he ordered his knights to bring her with them, keeping Shoto from reaching his guard. Fat tears rolled down his cheeks, as he saw her smile from far away, reassuring him that everything would be fine, before he was locked in chambers, not knowing if he would ever see her again.
“That’s not fair!”, Koichi complained and climbed up Shoto’s chest. “They did nothing wrong. Why would he punish her?!” The boy was more than upset with how the tables had turned in the fairy tale, his own little flames flickering in his head. Shoto was a bit shocked to see him so emotionally invested that Koichi accidentally activated his quirk. Fortunately, both of his sons had inherited either his fire or his ice so it was easy for him to deal with the small outburst. With gentle pats on the red-haired head, he extinguished the flickering flames as a precaution he checked if Yukio had started to freeze things, and lucky him despite feeling a little cold nothing was too far off the norm.
Glad that their little story time wouldn’t end in Koichi burning the house down he settled back into the pillow, pulling the smaller one down with him. Yukio seemed to have fallen asleep, but then Shoto checked he immediately opened his eyes, asking him wordlessly to tell the rest of the story.
“You are right, it is not fair. Shall we see how the story ends?” One tired and another energetic nod encouraged him further.
“When the king had taken his beloved guard, the prince couldn’t calm his racing heart. Anxiously pacing around his room he stopped when he noticed the turmoil down in the city. Afraid of what he might spot he tiptoed over to his window, the sight below nearly stopping his heart from beating.”
The knights dragged Y/N into the middle of the marketplace. Citizens were watching with mixed expressions as the crying woman was harshly pushed down and two of the armored man grabbed her arms to keep her beaten form from toppling over. Whispers echoed in the crowd, asking what the woman had done to deserve such a treatment, but when the king himself stepped into their middle, every last sound was hushed. The heat that traveled along with him was pushing the bystanders aside as he approached Y/N who swallowed her fear and tried straightening her back to seem more confident.
“You can’t lock him away forever. He deserves to be free!”, the woman screamed and earned herself a kick in the gut from one of the knights. She felt blood in her mouth and snarkily spit it in front of the king’s feet, making the crowd gasp in shock. “You are not decide his fate”, his deep voice growled, but she kept her ground, not willing to give in to his threat.
“Neither are you.”
The flames soared higher, melting the ground beneath the king’s feet as he stomped in her direction. His wrath was burning air in her lungs as she awaited his flames to devour her. Y/N turned her eyes up and watched the blue sky, remembering her prince one last time. His smile was worth all of this, she reassured herself and right, when the was nearly unbearable she felt something unexpected on her nose.
Irritated by the chilly sensation she saw the remnants of a beautiful single snowflake melt on the tip of her nose. A parting gift from Shoto? She asked herself but when another snowflake and another one landed on her skin she opened her eyes to see that the raging flames had been stopped from reaching her by a great icy wall.
As she tried to decipher what was going on the flames ignited again, melting the crystal-like ice into burning hot steam. “What the hell?!”, the king cursed and she watched his mighty figure approach from the steam, fearing that this was indeed her end.
His flames shone bright enough to be visible through the thick curtain of clouds and she gasped when a fiery ray speeded in her direction. Right before the burning blaze could touch Y/N another blast of fire block its path, shielding her with a much gentler temperature. The burning still hurt on her exposed skin, but the damage wasn’t by far not as much as the king’s flames would have caused.
When the flames withdrew from her field of view she had another urge to cry, even though her tears had long been evaporated. “Your highness…”, sounded her trembling voice as the creature half man, half monstrosity turned around to face her.
Koichi cheered at the new plot twist, “The prince is a hero!” The red-haired bean blinked happily at his father and shook his brother’s shoulders, who snuggled deeper into Shoto’s embrace. “The prince is like daddy”, Yukio agreed and pulled his plushie closer, just like Koichi was playing around with his. “See mommy?”, he spoke to the doll version of you, “Daddy always comes to rescue you. Just trust in him!”
In the hallway you blushed on your spot, hiding your sniffling behind your hand. Koichi was speaking out loud, what neither you nor Shoto had admitted, but always knew. You trusted your husband, with all your heart, that was the reason you had so willingly dragged the villains into his flames, confident that Shoto knew when to stop. And he had stopped, of course, he did.
As you heard him gasp in the bedroom you figured he now understood that too. But maybe, the next time, you should be more considerate of his point of view. The fear of losing control of his flames would probably never vanish completely and if that was the reason he had snapped at you… Well, your husband probably deserved an apology.
The smile on your face made you realize that no matter the argument you had, you would always be willing to forgive him. Fuck your pride if it meant having his embrace back, Shoto was more important than a stupid little fight.
You were trembling in anticipation of making up with him, but right now you patiently waited as he finished the bedtime story.
Her shocked gasp made the prince turn instantly away from her, afraid of her eyes filled with fear as all the others had been before. Shoto knew what was coming next. Everyone reacted the same when they saw the hideous creature his curse made of him, but despite this fear, he had decided to use flames to rescue her. He was okay if she pushed him away, as long as she was alive Shoto could accept spending his life alone again.
“Your highness…”, she whispered again and Shoto felt his body shaking. The pain would go away, he was sure. At least she was…
Gentle hands cupped both of his cheeks and he found himself staring into the beautiful orbs of his beloved guard, forcing him to face her genuine feelings as her gaze shifted over the scales and the teeth, the dark color devouring the light into a black abyss. But as time passed, she didn’t turn away. Why wouldn’t she turn away?
“Forgive me, for exposing this disgusting side to you”, he murmured and tried to turn away but Y/N wouldn’t let him. Against all odds, her eyes softened even more and the gentle touch of her fingers sent pleasant shivers down his spine. “My prince, my handsome, lovely, prince. Please, never hide from me. This”, her warm hand traced his scaled cheek and jaw and settled back into its place, rubbing tender on his burning skin, “This is not disgusting at all, no to me. Never.”
He stiffened when she placed a longing kiss on his black scaled cheek, freeing him from his doubts as she looked at him with nothing but love.
Shoto was overwhelmed by her gesture and now he was sure. He would never let her go again. He would protect her because she filled his empty heart with joy.
And when he heard his father raging again, he didn’t think twice, pulling his beloved into his arms and taking them both far away from the king, the castle. Somewhere where they could start a new life, together.
“Years later a rumor was spreading through the land, telling the story of a broken soul, half man, half monster, and his wife living happily ever after with two children of their own. Far away, where no one, not even the king himself was able to take their happiness ever again.”
When no response came Shoto looked down to see his boys sound asleep in his arms. After relishing in the feeling for another minute he carefully freed himself from their grasp, nestling them comfortably on Yukio’s bed and kissing their foreheads. When he opened the door a tired grey eye blinked open. “Daddy?” Shoto stopped and waited for his son to speak. “Mommy loves you. ‘M sure she’s not angry at you”, he mumbled and drifted back to sleep, missing the thankful look on his father’s eyes.
Silently Shoto closed the door behind him, eager to find you and apologize for his rude behavior the other day when he found you sitting against the wall next to the door. All of his hesitations vanished as you extended your hand, pulling him down to settle next to you.
“You should tell the bedtime stories more often. You are really good”, you praised him and rested your head on his shoulder, feeling his warmth embracing your body. Without him, you never seemed to find inner peace and so you were more than willing to cherish the feeling of his touch when his fingertips brushed over your cheeks. “You listened?” You nodded and a soft hum escaped your throat as he pulled you further into his embrace.
Even if it weren’t even 24 hours, you felt like you hadn’t had a chance to be like this for an eternity. Shoto was your home, nothing was making you feel more comfortable or safe than his presence. “I’m sorry” – “I’m sorry”, you both spoke up at the same time and after a short glance choked down your laughter to not wake your sleeping children. The way his body shook from his chuckling sent soft vibrations through your body and you snuggled closer to his side, planting a multitude of kisses on his face and neck. “Then let’s accept that we both didn’t mean what we said. I hate arguing with you”, you admitted and placed another kiss on the corner of his mouth, drawing a tender smile from him.
“You are right. I prefer making you smile rather than cry.” Shoto guided your hands to his lips and his warm breath on your skin made your insides tingle with excitement.
