She-Ra Movie: Visual Concepts
Also from my old art, I can rescue Zed, yes, the one who is the son of Horde Prime in the original series of '85.
This is how Horde Prime was referred to in the 1984 She-Ra series bible.
He was first mentioned on-screen in “The Peril of Whispering Woods”, when elf boy Prince Zed calls him his father, and Hordak “uncle”.
This script was approved September 14, 1984 but was continually revised until February 27, 1985.
Horde Prime’s first appearance was apparently “The Eldritch Mist”, as that script (by Robert Lamb) was approved November 9, 1984, with final revision March 8, 1985.
His appearance as a demonic cloud of gas and giant robot hand were designed by character designer Dale Hendrickson.
Confusingly, “Horde Prime Takes a Holiday” is listed as an earlier episode by various official sources like DVDs and He-Man and She-Ra a Complete Guide to the Classic Animated Adventures (approved March 7, 1985, final script revision May 2, 1985, credited as Story by J. Michael Straczynski and Teleplay by Bob Forward). Apparently the teleplay described him returning from holiday with “a dark tan, Bermuda shorts and Hawaiian shirt”, making it less likely that the character designer was called to first draw Horde Prime for this script!
I feel like Mattel should create a new MotU character that's the child/heir of King Hiss.
Think about it.
He-Man has a son
Skeletor has a son
Hordak has a nephew
Hiss should have a son, or a daughter, or a niece, or a nephew, or a clone, or some kind of next gen relation and/or heir.
And I have a couple of ideas for some existing characters that Mattel could take and expand into a child or heir for King Hiss.
Trap Jaw II, who has a prosthetic jaw, but otherwise looks like a Snakeman could be rewritten into King Hiss' offspring. He so underdeveloped, we know nothing about it but his name.
Or, Mattel could also use the Snakeman archer, Quick Flick. Another character that exists and is canon, but we know nothing about them except for their name.
Zed
son of Horde Prime / Anri
he is v sweet
Prince Zed, son of Queen Zaliah and one of Emperor Horde Prime's Favoured Children Name: Prince Zed of Z'arcia Age: Twenties Notes: Capable of using light magic to heal, create ropes, and to make sparks, by rubbing hands together (ungloved). Can read a person's mind-memories by doing a handshake and looking into their eyes. It's intimate and only rarely done. Personality: Polite | Assertive | Gentle Likes: Playing his therviolin and singing. Learning others' cultures respectfully. Fruit based desserts. Dislikes: People wielding magic carelessly. Being embarrassed. Story: Brother to sister Violence in my spop fanfic Survive Another Day and a main character. Info on the therviolin is in Chapter 12. Think of it as a combo of the violin and the theremin, only there's magic
This has almost certainly been discussed before, but in 80s She-Ra Horde Prime actually had a son, Prince Zed.
Zed only appears once, in “The Peril of Whispering Woods.” I’d heard about him before but only recently watched the actual episode. He winds up sympathizing with the Rebellion, and at the end he promises to end Prime’s tyranny when he comes to power.
Then we never see or hear from him ever again.
……
.…look, not that the 2018 version isn’t, but 80s Prime was ruthless, y’all. 😱
