Day I - ‘We were betrayed’, the thought ran through her mind as the darkly armoured monsters ransacked her home, destroying everything. Katheryne could only pray the Duchess had escaped as her bodyguard clutched her closer. His breath was ragged, and he was barely standing from unseen wounds, but Keith seemed determined not to leave her behind. Soon. As soon as there was an opening, they would make a break for it. They would escape, the Sovereign Princess and her Guard, if it was the last thing they did.
I have been reading far too much fanfiction.

On a mission given to them by the Sky God Shiro, Princess Katie "Pidge" Holt and her best friend Hunk sneak into the lair of the monster Sekinetsu to help the demigod Lance retrieve his magic bow.
“Listen,” Lance scoffed. “For a thousand years, I've only been thinking about keeping this face pretty, getting my bow, and being awesome again. And it's not getting screwed up by a pair of mortals who have no business inside of a monster cave except…” Lance paused as he saw a shimmering shell. “Except maybe as bait.”
Pidge narrowed her eyes at the demigod. “What are you thinking?”
Day VIII - “Pidge was unsure if it was tolerance or social niceties that prevented her from leaving this small group. While Hunk had proven himself to be a wonderful addition - with his knowledge of herbs and spices and phenomenal skill with his hands - she was still unsure what to think of Lance.
There. Was. No. END. to this braggart and his gift of speech.
He’d broken into yet another embellished tale of his skill with bow and arrow and blade he’d used to single-handedly rescue a merchant’s carriage from a group of bandits.
“They stood not half a chance! What, with my unparalleled swordsmanship!” Lance had cried with no small amount of confidence.
Pidge raised a brow. She had witnessed Sir Shirogane and Keith in battle; and had personally observed, and participated in, the latter’s brutal training regimen. She sincerely doubted Lance’s skill was matched to either.
Day XI - “Get a move on, soldiers! First to lay eyes on that horse has the honor of killing its rider!” A Galra soldier shouted from outside.
At first, Pidge hadn’t paid mind the the squadron that had taken up residence behind the quaint little tavern she frequented. That was, until she noticed it was made up solely of Galra.
The one whom had shouted sat proudly atop his steed, crimson armour aflame in the morning sun. One arm more heavily armoured than the other. It wasn’t hard to guess his Identity, Pidge had seen him before.
He’d led the attack on her home, after all.
If Sendak was showing himself again, bellowing to heavens of a horse, of all things, Pidge saw it worth looking into.
