Gosh just talk about your ship without mentioning the other ones damn, is it that hard???
First of all, the movie happens in 2 weeks, not one month. And when has jinu gaslighted and manipulated her??? I think I missed it. And the Saja Boys never made anything to ruin Huntrix's public image. They were actually giving a shoutout to Huntrix in their video. They were building a positive image of themselves to compete with them, but they never made them look bad. HE ACTUALLY WANTED TO HELP HER, DID WE MISS THE PART GWI-MA TORTURES HIS MIND AND ALMOST BURNS HIM ALIVE ENVELOPING JINU IN HIS FLAMES??? Gwi-ma puts Jinu in the hopeless place he was again, that's why he thinks for a moment of all demons should feel guilty, including themselves.
He betrayed her and she still wanted to save him and he didn't sacrifice to excuse his previous actions, he owned up, he apologized for all of it and was burnt alive by the evil being who abused him for 400 years to save her to prove he meant it.
And yes, they were both using each other at the start but they fell in love on the way. So what? I'm convinced some of y'all have never touched a half decent enemies to lovers in your lives.
Ship whatever you want. Just don't keep hating on the canon ship of the movie who's helped the movie get a greenlight to be made in the first place and the whole cast and crew loves it. It's okay to criticize and give valid criticism and have discussions and debates about it. It's okay to not like some ships. But don't disrespect any ship like that. Polytrix is not real. You invented it. How can you say they are more healthy? Canonically the girls see each other as friends and found family. Sure their friendship is very healthy even with its ups and downs. But that's all it is in the movie, friendship. They never implied otherwise. It's fine to ship them but don't bash on the actual canon pair of the movie, is simple as that. I myself I like many ships from the movie, like Jinu and Abby for example, but I'm not gonna mischaracterize Rumi just to make Jinabby look better.
I really hate when people mischaracterize morally-grey characters. No, Jinu isn't perfect. Yes, Jinu made mistakes. And yes, he truly loves Rumi.
I stand by the idea of him truly loving Rumi, and the only reason why he changed his mind and hurt her was because of Gwi-Ma. You don't end 400 years of manipulation that easily. But guess what? Even if he wasn't being manipulated, he is able to make mistakes. He is able to decide to support Gwi-Ma and then realize how wrong he was and apologize to Rumi.
And no, dying for her isn't enough. And isn't what he deserved because he needed to make amends and earn his redemption living.
Anti Rujinu/Jinu people: Jinu is a bad person
Me: Yeah, no shit, the whole story actively portrays Jinu as a villain and doesn’t shy away from reminding the audience he was in the wrong for abandoning his family, for siding with Gwi-Ma, for not trying to fight the voices, for betraying and hurting Rumi . His actions are never excused or portrayed as 50/50.
He gets called out by Rumi, by Gwi-Ma, by HIMSELF ffs for being a bad person.
That’s why the Rujinu pairing is an actual “enemies to (almost) lovers” pairing.
Just to made it clear, I mentioned the shippers because most of the Jinu hate comes from them. Not all of them, but a good part of them. I myself I am a multishipper, I learned to like many ships from the movie over time, but the only canon one is Rujinu and I met cool shippers from all other ships and toxic ones too from all other ships. So I hate the toxic shippers. I don't hate the ship or the cool shippers.
And yes, Celine is better than Jinu in terms of morals. Never said otherwise. I'm not denying Jinu's many wrongs. But we cannot affirm Jinu did or never did a selfless act before based on Gwi-ma's word alone. His mistakes and flaws are not all he is. On the present or on the past. Same with Celine. He did many wrong things but Rumi still forgave him for "exposing, betraying and humiliating" (because of Gwi-ma's torture btw) and still wanted to save him. She tried to kill him too. Again, enemies to lovers. She showed him hope, that he could be more than that. And that's why he CHOSE to step in front of Gwi-ma, to save her. Because he regretted it all. And he showed it. I do hope he comes back so we can see more of his redemption tho
Edit: Also I wasn't going to delete the other posts at first, but changed my mind, as op said they didn't want reblogs, but I was just expressing what I think so I will still let my answers here to whoever wants to see and agree or disagree, without showing the other person's username
In my opinion, people tend to like Jinu more because we have more about his feelings. The shame, the guilt, the self-hatred. And we relate to those emotions. We understand his actions and where they came from, whether we agree with them or not. Now, with Celine, a lot is unclear. Don't get me wrong, many things were left to be expanded, and I hope we get more from Celine, and she eventually apologizes to Rumi. Because even if Jinu is worse, he apologized and got himself killed. And it was so impactful. We don't see Celine after, so we don't know if she regrets anything. I think she does, which is cool, but it would also be cool to see more villains like her, I like the abuela Alma/Ming Lee/etc trope but we have been seeing it a lot nowadays. Let's vary a little. That being said, whatever path they go with the character of Celine will probably be interesting, and I can't wait to see it.
Also, we don't see Jinu and the Saja Boys killing anyone. Just other demons. The Saja Boys only opened the way for that to happen. Which is still wrong, I'm not saying it isn't, but we see Jinu at the scene when Derpy gives him looking regretful that Gwi-ma is receiving souls. He knows what he's doing it's wrong, but he thinks it's the only way. And he just doesn't know how to stop it. When Rumi gives him a solution to stop it, he agrees. He just doesn't do it because of Gwi-ma.
Sorry for the rant probably no one will read, just wanted to say that my point is: it's okay to express your opinions, and be respectful to characters you don't like and the people who like them. And it's okay to like both Jinu and Celine, dislike Jinu and like Celine, dislike Celine and like Jinu or even dislike both lmao
