Alrighty, my chicken nuggets! I’m gonna tell y’all right now that I have NO stance on this, because I’m confused as all shit. So, this is my post to open up some dialogue, and maybe get me some info! I have questions about this Yaoi thing, so buckle the fuckle up.

Yaoi is erotic fiction. It’s never been anything more than that. How is it fetishizing anyone, when fetishizig is supposed to be taking something not sexual? Yaoi has always been sexual.

How the entire hell are you supposed to glean anything about gay relationships from Yaoi?! It’s erotic fantasy. Not only in the fact that all relationship points are specifically written to end up erotic, just like anything else that’s erotic fiction, but also in the fact that a lot of this shit is like actually literally fantasy... As in: “These are not human men. This is a vampire banging a werewolf.” This shit has literally never been realistic nor was it ever meant to be??? I just don’t get how this is supposed to be harming mlm relationships, when these very fucking clearly aren’t real relationships being depicted..

If people actually are trying to get relationship shit out of this, then why don’t we tell them it’s just as inaccurate as porn is, instead of calling everyone and an entire category of erotic art “ugly/nasty/gross/ew/etc?” That just has never seemed productive to me.

Stop using your personal discomfort to dictate what kind of porn people are allowed to watch on the privacy of their bedroom.
