Prokaryotic cells
Thank you Drabz, Biggie Cheese and Speed over at Discord for helping me out with this comic! I appreciate it a ton! ^o^ (You can meet them in our discord server using the following link: https://discord.gg/aX2QCcS)
Eukaryotic and prokaryotic cells
I wasn't going to pay attention to this ep of Doctor Who because the description said spiders. But then the Doctor was like "it's prokaryotic" and I got super excited because those are my fave kind of organism. But like... I'm still freaked out. Cos they look like spiders.
Do any of you know anything about cells?
I need help with some homework.
prokaryotic cells
unicellular bacteria
no nucleus or membrane-bound organelles!!! - nucleoid region: DNA floating in cytoplasm, no true nucleus or nuclear membrane - cytoplasm: inside portion of the cell - cytosol: fluid within the cell
generally considered first form of life - were most likely anaerobic
cell membrane: regulates transport; selective permeability
cell wall: protective layer external to cell membrane - does not contain phospholipids or transport proteins
ribosomes: protein synthesis location
capsule: outside of cell wall; made of carbohydrate - pathogenic (causes disease)
