a picnic out of this world

★ It wasn’t that Olruggio didn’t know how to cook, quite the contrary, he was quite proficient when it came to practicing culinary magic. But in there lay the crux of the matter. These odd kitchen appliances were something he still had to get used to, and without his own magic it seemed so bothersome, so he had resorted to simple dishes.
Like today, he planned to prepare a simple soup, carrying the ingredients he needed for it in a small satchel, including some bread, something that looked similar enough to sword carrots and carapace yam, and cheese. Olruggio snickered to himself on his way back, his stomach grumbling with hunger and anticipation already, looking forward to a meal well earned.
But on his path, he saw someone leisurely sitting on a grass field on top of a sheet, seemingly carelessly and peacefully snacking. Certainly, it would be rude and unwise to disturb someone during their own lunchtime, but the things they were eating looked just too tempting not to check out. Only taking a peek and saying hello wouldn’t hurt anyone, right?
Carefully the witch approached from behind, announcing his presence with a kind greeting, “oi, that looks quite appetizing what ya got there.”
