✨List of soulmate concepts✨

As there are many, many, many different approaches to the “soulmate au”s, I decided to make list with all of the concepts I’ve stumbled upon. Please feel free to request any of them, or add on to them if you know of a concept that isn’t covered here or thought of a new one.

You will find them below the cut:

1) Soulmate’s curse: You are cursed. The only person this curse has no effect on is your soulmate.

2) Superpower: You have a superpower. Yours and you soulmate’s cancel each other out.

3) Glowing heart: When you get close to your soulmate for the first time, your hearts glow.

4) Shared skin: 

4.1] When one soulmate gets ink on their skin, it appears on the other’s skin too.

4.2] When your soulmate gets injured, the injury appears on your skin as well (no pain included)

5) shared senses:

5.1] When your soulmate gets hurt, you can feel the pain as well

5.2] Your soulmate feels every touch you receive

5.3] You can taste whatever your soulmate eats

5.4] Every time you close your eyes you see whatever you soulmate does

6) Empathy: You can feel your soulmate’s strong emotions

7) Telepathy:

7.1] You can communicate to your soulmate via telepathy

7.2] You can hear the music your soulmate listens to

7.3] You can hear every time your soulmate laughs, screams (no words) or cries

7.4] You hear every time someone screams or yells at your soulmate

8) Mute: You are mute until you meet your soulmate

9) Hidden words: Only your soulmate can hear your words (other noises not included)

10) True love:

10.1] You can hear every lie your soulmate tells echo inside your head, including lies of omission

10.2] Whenever your soulmate lies, you are the only one to hear the truth

10.3] Only people who have meet their soulmate can lie

10.4] Only people who have meet their soulmate can tell the truth

10.5] Only people who haven’t meet their soulmate can tell lies

11) Soul’s stone: You have a gem stone that will glow when it’s close to your soulmate

12) Soul’s tree: Your relationship with your soulmate is represented by a tree somewhere on earth. The location is tattooed on your wrist, and you can see it every time you close your eyes

13) Strings attached: A string tied to your finger connect you with your soulmate

14) Location: You always know where your soulmate is at any given time

15) Hints on the skin:

15.1] The first words your soulmate says to you are written on your skin

15.2] A timer on your skin counts down to the next meeting with your soulmate

15.3] Your soulmate’s name is written on your skin

15.4] You have a mark showing where your soulmate will first touch you

15.5] Wherever your soulmate touches you, a flower-tattoo appears for 24 hours

15.6] The distance between you and your soulmate is written on your skin

15.7| Every year on your birthday another hint appears on your skin

16) Birthday:

16.1] You can sent one letter to your soulmate every year on your birthday

16.2] You get one present from your soulmate to every birthday

16.3] Your soulmate can hear every word you say on your birthday

17) Decisions: You get to decide something. Fate will make sure it comes the way you decided.

17.1] You get to decide parameters based on which your soulmate gets chosen

17.2] You can make decisions for your soulmate

17.3] You get to decide how long it will be until you meet your soulmate again

17.4] You can deny or allow relationships your soulmate wants to begin

18) Soulmate’s Song: You and your soulmate share a song only you know the lyrics to. When you loose them, you forget the lyrics and get a mourning song instead

19) Colors:

19.1] Your eyes change color depending on your soulmate’s mood. Which color represents which mood varies

19.2] Your eyes match the color of your soulmate’s hair

19.3] You can’t see colors until you meet your soulmate

19.4] You only see one color representative of your soulmate whenever you aren’t together

19.5] You and your soulmate only see the same color

19.6] You see your soulmate’s moods and feelings as colors. The meaning of the colors vary

19.7] A colorful light trail only you can see leads you to your soulmate

20) Shared dreams:

20.1] You dream of your soulmate every night. The more you know about them, the more vivid the dreams.

20.2] You and your soulmate share a lucid dream whenever you sleep at the same time

21) Soulmate’s magic: The magic you wield has the color of your soulmate’s soul. When your soulmate dies or you don’t have a soulmate you can’t use magic either

22) Sparks: Every time you and your soulmate touch literal sparks fly

23) Light of my life: To you your soulmate glows in a soft hue

24) Future:

24.1] When you look into your soulmate’s eyes you can see a quick summary of your shared future

24.2] You can see how and when your soulmate will die

24.3] You can see every danger just before it befalls your soulmate and can call out to them (even telepathically)

25) Warmth: The closer you are to your soulmate, the warmer you feel

26) Ghosts:

26.1] When you soulmate passes away, you can see their ghost

26.2] One of you is invisible, untouchable and unhearable until you meet you soulmate. Which one is the “ghost” changes with the beginning of every new year.

27) Body swap: At a random time, you will swap bodies with your soulmate. The only way to swap back is meeting them.

28) Forgotten:

28.1] No one can remember you when they aren’t interacting with or seeing you, until you meet your soulmate

28.2] At one point in life, after meeting your soulmate, everyone will forget you. Only your soulmate will remember you.

29) Memories: When you touch your soulmate you can share memories. When your soulmate dies, you loose all memories you made together but get to keep the memories you soulmate gave you.

30) Animal: You can shape shift into your soulmate’s favorite animal. When your soulmate dies, you are stuck in whatever form you have at the moment.

31) Soul’s world: You and your soulmate have a world you can shape and shift however you want. You can visit it at any time, but only you and your soulmate can enter.

32) Time:

32.1] Time stops for you and your soulmate at one point. The only way to escape that one moment you are trapped in is finding them.

32.2] You stop aging at a certain age. Only when you meet your soulmate will you continue to age again.

33) Smell: Your soulmate smells intoxicating to you, like a mixture of all of your favorite things. (Careful, some people may get addicted to this smell ;D )

Extra: 34) Different marks: Your soulmate and you don’t necessarily have the same soulmark. It can be any of the ones above, making the hints harder to follow

After an eternity, me and @ketlingr finally found the time for another round of our little prompt game! And well, since @ketlingr suggested using a song as inspiration this time, I immediately thought of Fading by William Bolton (which is 100% @hello-shellhead‘s fault by the way) and now here we are. 

It was surprisingly hard to write and didn’t turn out the way I wanted it to but it is what it is I guess. Which Tony working through the events of CW. More or less.

“felt so good when i closed that door”--Fading by William Bolton

Eventually, inevitably, the former Avengers are reunited.

“Tony.”

Tony would be lying if he said he hadn’t thought about it. This. Every time he had reread Steve’s letter. Every time he had woken up at night, sweaty and shaking, throat hoarse from screaming. Every time the oh so innocent looking phone had rung.

Every time he hadn’t answered it.

There had been hatred in the beginning. And rage. A lot of angry words he had screamed at the walls. More drinks than Tony cared to remember. Countless glasses smashed. Because the hurt was too much to be kept inside, needed to be spread. Needed to hurt someone, something else.

Eventually the fury had faded. Tony had tried to hold on to it, tried to keep the hot flames alive in his heart, because as destructive as the fire was, anything was better than the cold. But anger required energy. And energy was hard enough to come by as it was, these days.

It didn’t dissipate exactly. Because Tony--a better man, maybe, could have let it go, but Tony was never going to be that man. He couldn’t.

He just--focused on other things. Less hurtful, less tiring, more important things. Preparing Earth for a threat it wasn’t willing to acknowledge, for example.

The time and distance--helped. For the most part.

Sometimes a stray thought or a throw-away comment would bring Steve to Tony’s mind again. Made him recall the last time they didn’t talk--because they had never, in all their years of working together, found a way to truly talk with each other--the last fight where everything had gone wrong--

Except that wasn’t quite true, was it? Things had been wrong long before they ever entered that abandoned bunker. Long before the Accords had ever become a reality. 

Sometimes Tony still thinks about seeing Steve again. About bashing his skull in with his own fucking shield. About throwing insults and unwelcome truths until he’s hurting just as much. Like maybe it will soothe the burn of Tony’s own wounds. 

(It won’t. He knows that.)

Sometimes Tony thinks about shaking Steve’s hand. About hugging him. About walking side by side.

(Those times he hates the most.)

Of all the things that happened in those messed-up days--Rhodey’s fall, Spiderman’s quip, his mother’s last moments alive--it’s Steve’s face that really stands out.

His expression when he looked at Tony.

‘He’s my friend.’

Tony rubs at the phantom ache in his chest. As though he can erase it, if only he puts enough pressure on. But. Unlike the rage, the bitter taste of betrayal, of dashed dreams and disappointed expectations, never faded.

It’s not as all-consuming anymore, but it’s still there, lingering in the back of his mind. Present.

Tony thinks less and less often about it. But.

It doesn’t fade.

“Tony,” Steve says. Hesitation, discomfort, wariness, hope flashing across his face in dizzying succession.

And Tony. Tony remembers drunk evenings and tears he couldn’t bring himself to cry. Remembers jokes and claps on the shoulder, and hits that hurt even when they missed their intended target.

Tony has lost a lot of himself in the past year. For Steve. Because of Steve. For reasons utterly unrelated to Steve. But he hasn’t forgotten how good they were together. He hasn’t forgotten how easily they fell apart. And letting go of the pain, the bitterness, the ugly spite--Tony has never been that good a man.

“Captain Rogers.”

No fury. No accusation. No insults. No welcome.

No inflection at all.

(Some things fade. Some things remain.)

For those of you who don’t know the song, give it a shot! It’s really good and reminds me very much of Tony post CW. Despite it being the prompt though this ficlet is only vaguely inspired by it, I’m afraid.

Prompt: Stranger

Sam was stuck in a place that seemed to be perfect, it was a huge house, his room was the master with a huge attached bathroom. There were plenty books to read, and enough space outside to run as much as he wanted. What was strange, and the one thing that didn't make it perfect, was the fact that this house was particularly strange.  The house was that was huge to Sam, was actually a tiny house inside a much, much larger one. Occasionally a huge stranger would come in smile, snark, and offer him candy. He wouldn't say why he brought him here, or where Dean was, just got a sad look on his face and said it was the only way to stop a fight between his two brothers. Sam hasn't given up looking for a way back to Dean, but this stranger didn't seem so bad.

Prompt: Necklace Prompter: @actualgiantsamwinchester

Dean had a bracelet that Sam had given him one Christmas when they were both teens. He loved the bracelet and almost never took it off, it was a cocoa colored leather Dean and Sam’s names were both imprinted on it with weaved black leather holding it together. Sam was cursed one day, shrunk so small he could barely keep track of the little guy. Dean was researching a cure and letting Sam climb up and down his arm when he tripped and got caught in the weaving. Well there was an idea, Dean left Sam on the table with his phone and left for a few hours, he came back and hung around his neck was a new necklace, metal chains mixed with black leather, and hooked to it was a tiny glass casing with a screw off bottom. So whenever Dean needed both his hands, or Sam was being ballsy and trying to do things himself, into the necklace he would go, and Dean would hold it in his palm, or fiddle with it content in knowing Sammy was safe and on his person, and Sam didn’t have to feel left out anymore.
