On Saturday I fished the air ambulance match on the River Stour again, a superbly organised match and I’ve had a really enjoyable day catching roach, perch, gudgeon, rudd, bleak and dace on maggots, casters and pinkies over Bait-Tech Peo Nat Extra and Dark. When the scales got to the chap on my left, a certain Des Shipp and Gappy Parr were leading the section with 5lb 12oz, my neighbour had the same weight and then I weighed……5lb 12oz so there was a four way tie for the section! It was the Pete Lonton memorial pairs match at Dillington and the Isle on Sunday. I caught some nice perch and roach on maggots over Bait-Tech Pro Nat Fine Lake Dark for 5lb 9oz but that was only third in my section on the pond. My partner struggled and we finished nowhere. Two matches to catch up on, Saturday I fished the air ambulance match on the River Stour. A superbly organised match, I caught quite well for the first two hours to weigh 4lb 13oz which won the section and £50. Sunday it was Bobs memorial match at Dillington, it’s rod only and I had an enjoyable match on the waggler catching 82 fish (roach, perch and rudd) for 6lb 3oz and another section win. The anglers raised a brilliant £90 for Dementia UK. Steve Bishop won with an excellent 12lb 12oz. We were back at Dillington for round 6 of the Enterprise Angling sponsored Summer League on Sunday. I had a decent start catching a nice skimmer plus roach, perch, an eel and two little carp! but then it lashed down and was a struggle for most. I weighed 5lb 11oz to win the section. My second match of the long weekend was at Dillington. We had a great turnout although conditions were far from ideal. I drew a nice peg and started well but it just faded after two and a half hours. I ended up with 84 roach and perch for 5lb 8oz and nowhere. With the River Isle in the fields flooded, we had a match at Dillington on Sunday.
