Hula-Hoop Portable Protective/Magic Circle Idea!
Now I have not tried this myself (yet) and I have no idea if it would actually work. But, I thought it would be a decent idea to share! Maybe it could help someone or someone could improve it! I would love to hear any and all opinions or ideas! Please let me know what you think of it!
But again, bear in mind, I have no clue if this could actually work. It could be entirely useless for some reason, and I wouldn't have a clue about it. I'm just a newbie witchling with weird ideas, don't take my word as Gospel.
The other night I was think about how sometimes, you want to do a spell or ritual or something involving a protective circle in a place where A) you don't really want evidence of having done something there, or B) you want to use salt, but it kills grass/plants!
What's perfectly round, comes in a fair amount of different sizes(and colors! Color magic?) and is super easy to carry around/very inconspicuous??
Now you probably see how this works as a... circle, but not a magical one, and probably wondering how this could help with the salt thing.
This is where it gets a tad bit crafty.
Most hula hoops are hollow, and some actually are made in a way that one end of the circle is stuck into the opposing hole-like a cork, kind of. Found this out when I was little & my cousins & I thought we'd broke our hula hoop, but no! Just shove it back in snugly, and you're good to go 👍
But! Hula hoops are hollow! So even if it doesn't stick in that way, you could cut one.
Then, you could tape one side closed for the time being so things don't spill out(and I imagine there will be a lot of shaking/stuffing things through the tube), and fill the other end with whatever you need-salt, herbs, if it fits in the hole, go for it. I'd use a funnel to fill it(funnels are a life saver)
When you're done filling it, you could either tape the ends back together, get a pipe fitting from a home repair store & put both ends of the hoop in it. Glue one end into it, so it would be more sturdy but still allow an opening, this could make it refillable to change the salts and herbs out after each use, or you could glue both ends so it wouldn't ever come loose, up to you! Do whatever works best.
This way you could take this circle with you wherever you want, and A) no one would realize what it is B) if you need to end your spell/ritual quickly for some reason or for fear of being caught, you have one less thing to clean up/explain about, C) it could bring extra oomp depending on how you've personalized the hoop.
Also if you were feeling especially crafty you could definitely tie some yarn or ribbon across to make a pentacle within the hoop! Or paint the thing. Glue shinies on it. Tie crystals to it. Glue bones on it. The hoop is your oyster.
Anyway, I hope this does work and helps some people out! Let me know what you think! ✨
