Corporate Mormonism knows how important two-deep leadership. It's implemented all over the church. It's used in primary, scouting, and when counting tithing money. In none of these cases does someone have to ask for protection to be provided. It's provided by default.

Recent changes to policy allow Mormon kids to ASK for a second leader to be in the room during an interview. They shouldn't have to ask.

All hail Nelson and the other men of God in charge of the church, even the LORD’S church! Bow your heads and say yes! No evil-speaking of the LORD’S anointed! Pray, pay, and obey and definitely don’t ask questions or point out what we could improve. We don’t make apologies and we WILL excommunicate you.

I’m too angry to be coherent, so here’s a little witticism about how I feel about this whole Sam-Young-pointed-out-Mormons-ask-children-sexually-explicit-questions-so-we’re-going-to-excommunicate-him thing:  

Mormonism, where criticizing the practice of asking children sexually explicit questions will get you excommunicated.

Let's be honest, any criticism you don't keep locked deep, deep inside you will get you kicked out.

Sam Young and ProtectLDSChildren

Brief video overview of the Protect LDS Children movement and Sam Young's drive to make substantive change to LDS Church policy.

Sam Young is on hunger strike just outside of temple square as part of the #HungerStrikeAndSpotlight campaign. The Spotlight part of the campaign involves Sam sending an invitation to an apostle each night of the campaign to come and have a temple side chat about the abuse that people have received as a result of bad church policy surrounding worthiness interviews. So far, no apostle has come to talk to Sam or to the abuse survivors who would like to talk to the apostles about the policies. Sam will end his hunger strike on one of three conditions: 1. Substantive change to church policy (i.e. the church specifically states in policy that bishops cannot ask sexually explicit questions) 2.Ten sitting Bishops announce public support 3. His wife tells him to stop I think the hunger strike is extreme because sadly, I think it's more likely that he will starve than that the Mormon church leadership will allow good policy suggestions to come from "the outside"... Good luck, Sam. I hope your wife tells you to stop soon. If the leaders won't change in the face of the pain of thousands of children and adults, why would they change because of your hunger pains?

Parents should be concerned about the interviews. This interaction between a father asking about the policies of Mormonism and the missionaries who don’t have good answers for him is disturbing. The main question he is concerned about is whether or not there is a background check done on bishops. There is not. Also, since when was menstruating the same thing as masturbating?? Oh, Mormonism...

It was a good march. The two themes were 1) No one on one interviews, 2) No sexually explicit questions ever.

The church's recent policy changes did nothing to end bishops asking youth sexually explicit questions. That needs to stop.
