While this number is unacceptable to begin with, what happened next is even worse. The DNR's board voted 5-2 to slaughter 300 wolves starting November 6— more than 2.3 TIMES the initial recommendation. This despite testimony from experts, the indigenous community, and residents who all pleaded with the appointed officials on the board to make a conservative decision supported by science.
