#31 - “In awe, the first time you realized it”

It's actually arevelation.

A surprise; and Tonyrealizes it so suddenly, it makes his head spin.

They are in the kitchen,all of them. The whole team is gathered, all in various states ofalertness, but it's Steve who catches his eye.

Steve looks adorablysleep-mussed, his golden hair messy and ruffled. He seems barely ableto keep his eyes open, one hand supporting his head, the otherresting on the table, cereals forgotten.

Tony watches him, takes inthe light flush that lingers on Steve's cheeks. Takes in the relaxedway Steve is sitting here like he belongs in this place.

And he does.

The scene is so domesticthat Tony can't help but think: What about them in a few years?

He finds that he wants tospend his life with Steve, that this isn't just a silly childhoodcrush like it used to be.

It's no longer just aslight infatuation, it's love.

“I love you”, Tonysays in awe. “I love you”, he repeats, loud and clear andSteve turns towards him, his eyes wide and so very blue.

The pink colour that wasonly faintly tinting his pale skin is now a full-blown, dark blushthat goes all the way down to the hem of Steve's shirt.

Tony finds himself smilingas he walks towards his boyfriend, steals a kiss and wanders out ofthe kitchen, humming happily, coffee in hand.
